How do you guys feel about these kinds of announcements?

I would like to see all three games come out but there was never a single release date for either of them. There is also the fact that KH3 had a trailer and its most likely dead in the water because EA and Disney have a videogame deal and most likely aren't letting Square into the pie either.

I'm still skeptical about these two even coming out at all and it just being a stunt for playstation to win E3 this year.

And there is no way in hell sony promoted shenmue 3 kickstarter out of the goodness (lol) in their hearts. There are probably thousands of people at Sony who love shenmue who would have promoted that for free years ago, but it being promoted on E3 stage is suspicous.

>Shenmue III

It's just been funded so they made the smart decision (saves money, doesn't it? - I have odd respect for tricks like that). There's no fully working DC emulators and there's no port, I couldn't see funding it entirely themselves would pay off.

>Last Guardian

I laughed when they said it was on the PS4. I don't want to play it though. It's gotten to that point where I just don't care anymore.

>FFVII Remake

Zero interest in playing it but the trailer did give me a twinge of excitement. So good job to whoever made the trailer.

>Hitman

No gameplay.

>KH3 had a trailer

I must have missed that but Squeenix has their own show and KH is pretty big so it's not like it'll go unnoticed.

>I'm still skeptical about these two even coming out at all and it just being a stunt for playstation to win E3 this year.

Shenmue 3 and Last Guardian? It would be pretty funny if Last Guardian got delayed again.

I was never a big fan of Final Fantasy. I tried playing the first FF games recently and I felt like I had played them before. Later FF games have always left a bad taste, mainly because of the protagonist and antagonist designs (I'm still trying to think of worse overall design than any character that's classified as bishounen). However, that World of Final Fantasy looks like fun on the go. Horizon looked cool, kind of like an entry-level Monster Hunter. Hitman was worrying (no gameplay, the blunder that was the last Hitman game). Never played the earlier Shenmune games, and I never really cared for The Last Guardian when it was shown in '07 and I still don't now even though it's been EIGHT YEARS.

All of these strong announcements trying to appeal to a "classic" audience, the newblood audience, and then people like us seems like a reaction to Sony's monetary losses over the last year or so.

These are the kinds of announcements that give me hope for the industry again, and make me think the industry might finally be getting back on track.

Gaming fucking died for me and many other people last gen. A huge part of this is because games that carried the torch of the strongest titles of the previous gen became vaporware, and all we were left with was "cinematic experiences" and gray and brown shooters. The Last Guardian, FF Versus XIII, FFVII Remake, Shenmue III; these are all games that SHOULD have come out last gen. But gaming went offtrack.

The fact that they appear to be actually coming to fruition now, the fact that PlayStation is outselling the Xbox again, and other factors make gaming now feel a lot like gaming 10 years ago, when companies were giving their all and each new E3 gave people something to be legitimately excited about. It was odd that Sony ran a kickstarter ad as part of their show, but you can't announce fucking FFVII and Shenmue III back to back and NOT win E3. This conference is historic.

>FFVII remake

Wow, so they're finally doing it. I have to echo the sentiment that it's kinda exciting, but no guarantee it'd be something I'd want to play. Then again, considering what this implies and what we got recently in terms of FF, it could actually be pretty good:

>faithful remake with the same camera angles and level design, only now adjustable

>traditional turn-based combat with righteous battle music returns to final fantasy

>remixes/remastering of uematsu's original score

>additional game content and revised or retranslated story

>voices, hopefully with the option to turn off or the chance they'll be decent enough to listen through

If this turns out to be another FFXII or XIII, then I won't be as interested, but no doubt it'll sell like hotcakes. Either way, though, I think I'm tired of being cynical all the time and would rather look forward to something, for a change. Hopefully it'll be worth the weight.

Also

>music from Advent Children

Eh. Might be all right. As long as Cloud is as big a dick as I remember him.

Yeah, what this anon said. I want to go back to that era of gaming when there wasn't so much to bitch about.

50ccf4 No.17715

Way, way, WAY too early for all of them. Especially since FF VII and Shenmue 3 are late 2017 games. TLG they should have announced when they locked the date at Playstation Experience (Also holy shit it looks real bad).

Felt like they needed something to keep them in the headlines and distract owners from the fact the 2015 line up is awful and 2016 isn't looking too hot either.

93de65 No.17734

I spoke too soon looks like KH3 is still in production. I thought Disney would force star wars marketing in but I guess I was wrong

(for once)bravo square

>>17715

The thing about the last guardian for me is that there was nothing shown besides pushing a fan. What is the story? How big is the game? Where would it fit in the ICO universe is what peaks my interest. Those games were a sum of its parts and they have the style and sound but with everything else unknown its gonna be bland.

I'm also going to give the Nier announcement to them as well. It was announced by Squeenix but it (so far) appears to be a PS4 exclusive.

Really they just won with Shenmue. Nobody else had a big announcement on that level. Though I'm not liking the idea of launching kickstarters at an E3 stage.

>>17711

>>faithful remake with the same camera angles and level design, only now adjustable

>“We’ve announced an HD port version on the PlayStation 4, and then we have the remake coming to PS4,” Nomura said. “You’ll have this extremely, very, very pretty FFVII existing on the same plane. We feel that if that happens, it’s like, why have the same exact game?"

https://archive.is/tgTTJ

Would be nice if they got the same VAs from Crisis Core, Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus. I think they've given the same characters to the same actors every time.

>>17734

I'm guessing they just went "we need to show some fucking gameplay". Throw in a short area that shows off the fact the griffon will catch you and is afraid of those television dishes and you need to get rid of them. Gives them the basic idea that's it's Yorda but bigger and slightly more useful beyond standing on switches.

The story is just 'escape' but usually there's only one or two story points in TI games, so anything more would probably end up counting as spoilers.

>I thought Disney would force star wars marketing in but I guess I was wrong

I figured they'd go for Frozen instead of Tangled.

I feel the same way about Last Guardian, I just don't care anymore, same for KH3

FF7 and Shenmue I just never cared for in the first place

Hitman I am being cautiously optimistic since a while back they said they would go back to a Blood Money style game

The "live world" bullshit seems very gimmicky to me, but that's because I'm a pessimistic shit who really only wants a great big fuck-off Blood Money expansion pack.

Do wish they would re-title the sodding thing, though. Sick to death of publishers re-appropriating original names.

>inb4 the original had a subtitle

>inb4 the 2015 rev would be Hitman 6

Absolutely Disgusting doesn't count and you know it

Yeah I didnt like the the Open world thing either, just doesnt seem to fit Hitman that well.

>I just don't care anymore, same for KH3

Because they kept doing non-number sequels? I like to pretend the series ended with the first one (CoM gets leeway for having decent gameplay but the story starts going South then - not that the first one was high literature).

Last Guardian is basically Ico but Yorda is a griffon and the enemies will (I'm guessing) be different. I like Ico but it's not worth the wait. At best it'll be solid but Team Ico has never lived up to the praise they get.

I still don't understand how anybody uses them as a 'games are art' argument. One is a monster hunter and one is an escort mission. They're decent, nice atmosphere and all that but they're not special.

>>17832

Is it seriously just Hitman? I hate that shit.

dc89b7 No.17844

>>17840

>Because they kept doing non-number sequels?

Pretty much, I only played 1, 2, and CoM on the GBA, after that it just got silly and I stopped caring, not to mention it took them this long to actual make a 3.

354fed No.17851

>>17844

>not to mention it took them this long to actual make a 3.

I forgot that KH2 came out a decade ago. In that time there's been four remakes and four spin-offs (I think the only one that was post-KH2 was the 3DS one). They're really pushing for how long people give a shit about waiting for a story to continue.

Apparently it's going to finish off the Xehanort saga (easier to pretend he doesn't exist at all really).

dc89b7 No.17860

>>17851

Honestly I don't think I'll be playing KH3 until I find it used for under $20

5a6986 No.17872

>win

>E3

first, there was no winner, everyone was shit this year

second, you can't win a conference in any sense you fucking mongoloid, I hate seeing this shit

I know I'm pretty late, but here's my opinions

>FF7 HD will come out because Squeenix will do anything to milk the cash cow

>The Last Guardian will probably see the light of day, but what they showed was basically a cutscene, and it didn't seem very perilous with how long the trico was hanging on the edge, so no hype

>I missed the shenmue 3 announcment, but I have no interest in the series anyway.
