Another thing I forgot to add in the OP: how to you compare his reign to Yamauchi's? Obviously very different eras and different challenges, but… yeah: /bestv/'s thoughts on that one?

Iwata's reign was financially pretty damn solid for the company. Under his leadership, they sought and found themselves a bigger market; but always kept that "gameplay is most important" mindset. That, and whoring out all their old franchises.
So to go with someone who is entirely profits-driven, maybe to keep up with the "media center always online" malarkey of the competition, would not only not make sense, it would also be a dramatic change in their own internal narrative.
Don't see it happening.
