Star Wars Video Game Threads

What Star Wars games do you like? What kind of Star wars games would you want to see? (Both gameplay and plotwise)

2a4a79 No.2023

What I like most about star wars video games is the variety.

I truly would love to see a detective style game about the Jedi seeking to uncover the Sith plot to destroy the Republic, or a spy game spying on CIS.

Lego Star Wars

More good AI team games.

2d8f7f No.2027

I really would like to see another RPG like KotOR. Naturally not by Bioware, of course. Too bad EA has exclusive rights to all Star Wars games now. So we won't get a good game for years.

SWTOR has storylines which are pretty close to your description. Not really worth the 100 hour MMO grind but you can watch the highlights on YT.

Battlefront 2. I'd like to see a proper sequel to it, but EA has their hands on Battlefront 3 so all hope is lost.

eef664 No.2044

I just want more Star Wars games centered around the empire, like an imperial commandos game.
We'll never get it though, because fucking disney and fucking EA.

2e501a No.2047

I want a Star Wars game centering on bounty hunters. Who the hell doesn't want to explore space with their little spacecraft, doing jobs and quests here and there?

c5edd0 No.2048

That episode one eco sim where you can build an environment on Naboo's moon was pretty fun.

2a4a79 No.2075

>>2047

Bounty Hunter for PS2/Xbox was actually pretty damn good, although it doesn't completely fill your wishes.

We can dream.

>>2038

I mean… it will be okay, it just won't be a proper sequel. It will be battlefield 3/4 with Star Wars, which is not a bad idea… It's just not deserving of the title Battlefront.

917417 No.2082

KOTOR is pretty good, KOTOR2 RCM is always fun to replay through.

I'd want to see games based on the books after episode 6, clone wars has been done to death, but the chances of that now are long dead.

eef664 No.2085

>>2082
You can mod the existing games. I know there's a Yuuzhan Vong Battlefront 2 mod out there, and '
there's a thrawn mod out there for Empire at War. If you're console only, you're bang out of luck, I'm afraid.

bd1fe5 No.2116

I think having the Star Wars franchise being bought by Disney could increase the quality of the new Star Wars games coming out.

Before the sale, the quality of the Star Wars games IMO were pretty low.

Which is a shame considering how high the quality was in the 90s, before Jorge turned his dark attentions to LucasArts.

11ade9 No.2131

Im no huge fan of Star Wars and haven't played every game in the franchise but these are my favorites :
1. Battlefront 2
It was hours and hours of fun, good times. I was particularly fond of the space assaults. You could engage in dogfights with ships, defend your carrier or breach the enemy's and sabotage it. Neat maps and fun mechanics, AI was a bit wonky at times though. I played split screen on the PS2 with my niece. It was actually her game.

2. The Battle of Naboo, for the N64.
That game was a blast. Didnt play any game that was mechanically similar to it prior to The Battle of Naboo so flying around like that really blew my mind.

3. Lego Star Wars, also the for the PS2.
I like puzzles and co-op. So does my niece.
Great game, very charming.

4. Some super-old pod-racing arcade machine that I have a hard time finding for some reason. The controls were super uncomfortable both physically and digitally.
Hella-fun tho, but I don't remember much.

A game I would like to see is something with well-polished aerospace based combat, player-controlled ship/s with moderate tactical elements where you strategically allocate units/relay orders. Both Rebels and Siths as playable factions, and scalable combat meaning you must engage in battle as everything between massive cruisers, drop ships, one-man fighters, to drones. Emphasis on multiplayer but without major common/gimmicky RPG elements, singleplayer campaign battles without relation to the lore. Famous assaults or battles that's in the movies could be DLC, example Hoth.

If I'm shitposting I apologize.

Battlefront 2 is da best.

Not with all the lore rape. I'm a hardass when it comes to the lore. I hated TFU because it shat on the lore, even though it was a fun game. I hate TOR for what it retroactively did to the KOToRs just as I hate the prequels for ruining parts of the OT. These days I have no hopes or expectations towards Star Wars. It now belongs to kids and their fucking cartoons. I'm only a little bitter about it.

this. I always wanted a comfy Bounty Hunter game. Cruisin' around space, trackan outlaws, fightan with jetpacks, nets, darts, rockets and all that cool shit, cashing in bounties and spending it all on Twilek dancers. Living the dream. Is there any game like this, even not neccessarily connected to SW?

There's a group that plays JK3 with JK2 maps about once a week. Run by a guy from halfchan but he also posts on 8chan.

I followed this game way back when it first was announced. Having played KOTOR and KOTOR2, I remember having ideas for my own KOTORMMO and I was extremely excited to see that one of my favorite games was coming to reality.

I even remember signing up for their little fansite way before launch, and trying to get beta access early, getting the newsletter, watching the little holovids.

I remember the day, the day I lost all hope in SWTOR….

It came from a video. A monstrous video that had developers talking about MMO game design. Finally! They would surely talk about how video games needed to take lessons from their forbears, and most importantly for SWTOR, learn from the fiasco that was Star Wars: Galaxies, post NGE. They would surely learn from a massive game based on the same franchise, that made the mistake of copying WoW right? Right? How wrong my little naive mind was….

The video had Ray Miysuzaki or what-the-fuck-ever talking. Either him or another demon started talking about "pillars of MMO design". They said that there were "three pillars of MMO design" and that they would innovate, they would create a fourth. Their fourth, their fourth pillar from the depths of hell, was story.

How the fuck can you design an MMO around story? Are you going to write 10+ years of dialogue? That would take 12 years to make. What a stupid fucking design decision. Base an MMO, the one genre where players can most organically create their own stories and adventures, and focus on your shitty developer one? Go kill 10 womp rats? Fuck you Bioware developers, fuck you.

After that head shaking stupidity, I slowly lost interest in the thing that I had dreamed about for years. I ended up never even playing the damn game. It copied WoW, went from subscription to F2P, and in the process, chipped off a piece of my soul.

Why?

195dee No.3914

I'd love to see a HD remake of star wars ep 1 racer along with online multiplayer and lots'o modding.

I'm not so bothered they scrapped 1313 now. The premise and scenario being interesting, however I had a grave feeling it was going to be QTE: the game based on other big titles.

I'd like to see a return to more fighter-based combat games such as x-wing and tie fighter, and I think the market is really missing a new mmo because ToR is shit. A star wars MMO should play more like galaxies crossed with EVE. It would be beautiful.

68f4d5 No.3933

>>3902
It should've died when it did. Now it's on F2P life support and training a new generation of kids to like this kind of shit.
>>3914
I was never bothered by 1313 getting cancelled. It looked like a shit copy of Uncharted. The main character's gun was hitscan, which was very telling. We're all better off that it never came to be. SW are dead. There's no point in expecting something good to come out

daa166 No.3953

My best hope lies in an X-Wing themed user campaign, made for an as yet nonexistent yet highly moddable space dogfighting game.

I'm so sorry anon. When the CG trailers of the game looked more interesting than the game itself I already had low hopes. But I know what being burned by hype feels like, and in that, I sympathize.

467d2e No.4957

I would love to see a modern space fighter sim along the lines of X-Wing/Tie Fighter/X-Wing vs Tie Fighter.

A Rebel Alliance campaign (W-Wing, A-Wing, Y-Wing and B-Wing) and Empire campaign (Tie Fighter, Tie Bomber, Tie Interceptor and Tri-Fighter) so you get to use everything and experience both sides of each battle (Death Star battles as Empire would be rad).

I doubt we'll ever see anything like it though.

I still haven't found racing games that give you the experience of going fast as well as Episode 1 Racer or F-Zero X did. Even F-Zero GX felt slow compared to those games.

>>2131
>Battle for Naboo
The thing that people don't remember about that game is that it fucking destroyed every contemporary flight sim that wasn't FS2000 in quality, texturing, render distance, etc. And it was on the N64 to boot.

Factor 5 died a slow and needless death, but they did fucking insane wizardry with everything they touched.

990e8a No.10336

I've always been a fan of Battlefront and the various space fighter games.

Although I really wished there were more Star Wars RTS games.

ccc798 No.11455

I tired to run and play the fixed mod for TSL KOTOR, but another one of my mods, a molotov cocktail mod, fucking ruined the experience, not to mention an early light saber mod ruined it too.

So I think I would have to reinstall it, and a shitload of mods and honestly. Don't fucking feel like it

>It will be battlefield 3/4 with Star Wars

Battlefront was already Battlefield with a Star Wars skin and third person. How is it a bad idea to give a Battlefield inspired game to the makers of Battlefield?

I mean, other than that Battlefield has been shit for years. Back in the day I always hoped Dice would make Battlefront cause it made perfect sense, but now I'm meh about it.

But back to the point. Battlefront is just Star Wars Battlefield. It fascinates me that people actually think otherwise. It's more arcadey than Battlefield I suppose, which is what I always liked about it, but yeah it's still Battlefield. I guess Dice will end up making it more realistic to some extent, and I want to see the battles in the Frostbyte engine, but I still play Battlefront 2 so if the new one is shit it's no skin off my bones.

ccc798 No.13936

KOTOR III or failing that, I wish my current digital copy of KOTOR II wasn't irreparably broken by some mods that fucked with others mods.

>How is it a bad idea to give a Battlefield inspired game to the makers of Battlefield?
It might have been a good idea, when DICE was still alive. Unfortunately, DICE and Battlefield have been fucking dead for years now.
