Let's see if we can have a civil discussion about this upcoming video game. I'm excited for Bloodborne, and I also enjoyed Dark Souls 2. How about you?

>>11476 >But i'm comparing it to halfchan /v/, where you can't even discuss this game AT ALL, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Not true actually. I've seen much, much better discussion on 4chan/v/ of Bloodborne than 8chan/v/, when a serious, non-baiting thread has been made about the game. I'm talking about post-release, too. 8chan/v/ is another story and it's not going to change any time soon.
Also the BB general on 4chan/vg/ has really taken off. This game is here to stay.

>>11351 I was bored last night so I jumped into a random stream because I like laughing at bad players. I picked the one with the most views on Twtich, some guy called "Destiny."
He was fighting Vicar Amelia with the Hunter's Axe… with one-handed R1 attacks only, so he could gingerly tap her and then run away. I told him to try two-handed charge R2'ing, but he didn't read any of my messages for around 4 failed attempts. On the last attempt, he gets cornered and dies and says "That's bullshit, jumps give me invulnerability frames." I offhandedly said, "jumps don't give invuln frames." Then he says, "Wait, has this guy been saying shit?" And reads all of my lines.
Upon reading "jumps don't have invuln frames," he instantly flies off the handle and calls me a fucking retard. I realize he's talking about quickstepping and just leave the stream. Was pretty funny. Guess he'll never learn how to stagger bosses.

>>11614 I don't diss anyone who beat the boss differently, but the guy actually kept going on with shit like, "How did you even play this game without knowing there were invuln frames? Did you just cheese all the bosses with molotovs?" (the very idea of that, lol). He even went on a spiel about how he was playing the game the "real way," the irony being that he has a weapon that he can use to stagger the boss he's fighting any time he wants. I personally used threaded cane. Of course you can dodge Amelia's attacks if you recognize the attack patterns (you need to when you don't have a weapon that can just stagger the boss), but the guy clearly had no idea what he was doing and I was just trying to help.

Does it ever rain in Bloodborne? Would be a perfect game for rain, especially since everything always looks so wet and it's based on London.

Been trying to beat the Blood Starved Beast for some time now. I've fortified my Kirkhammer +3, am level 28, and have an str stat of 18. I've wasted all my Blood-flasks (the ones that are throwable), my antidotes, and fire paper. I'm not going to grind for echoes because that's fucking garbage and the normal pistol can't parry this guy. I'm at a loss here. Despite hitting him with heavy attacks and light attacks, the hammer seems to do NO damage and he moves to far after attacker to hit him consistently. inb4 ring the bell I wouldn't pay money for my internet.
Anonymous 04/07/15 (Tue) 00:34:32 cc50a3 No. 11718
>>11717 It should be fairly easy for you to get him down to half health. After that the attack where he goes fucking crazy and just flails in front of him actually has extremely shit tracking, so dodge to the side and hit him in the back a few times. Also there's really no shame in going on a run in Central Yarnham or two for blood vials, I do it all the time. If you have the Hunter's Axe, it staggers him with a charged R2. I have no idea how useful the Kirkhammer is because I didn't go strength.

>>11536 I'm obviously talking about the trophies that you get for getting chalices that are only dropped by bosses (with a 100% drop rate).
Example: the trophies Amygdala and Chalice of Ailing Loran are both received for beating Amygdala. It's just weird that you get two trophies for the same event. Not a big deal at all, but an odd design choice. I wonder why.
Check for yourself:
http://psnprofiles.com/trophies/3431-Bloodborne?order=rarity&lang=en-us#content Sort by rarity, they even have the same number of people who have unlocked them. Same goes for Chalice of Isz.
Just made me wonder if there was something I'm overlooking.

>>11721 You can actually get 16 vials or more if you kill them, then go up through the dark townhouse (killing any townsfolk on the way because they're likely to drop), then kill the two wolf beasts on the Great Bridge and the other ogre up there. The wolf beasts are likely to drop 3 each. You can even then go downstairs, go past the area with the caged dogs and kill the big mutated townsfolk in the warehouse and the area overlooking the canal, they usually drop 2 each as well.

When I replay a Souls game I can drastically shift things up. Fast or slow? Heavy armour or light armour? Heavy weapon, light weapon or 2 handed? Incorporate range weapons into my build? Incorporate one or multiple or many schools of magic into my build? Poison/elemental build? Primary magic build? The list goes on. I've almost finished playthrough one of this game and all I can think is: If I replay this, I'm going to play it exactly the same. Except levelling skill instead of strength. Is there any versatility in this game?
Anonymous 04/07/15 (Tue) 00:54:05 cc50a3 No. 11728
>>11726 Well, I mean… the weapons are all completely different. There isn't any shield or "heavy armor" option in this game because, frankly, it made all the previous games way too easy.
Having said that, if you go Arcane there are indeed spells (in the form of usable items that consume QS bullets). You can also go Bloodtinge; there are legitimate builds that focus on ranged damage. The game is based around what weapon(s) you want to use, not what numbers you want to raise.

>>11728 >Well, I mean… the weapons are all completely different. There isn't any shield or "heavy armor" option in this game because, frankly, it made all the previous games way too easy. Right, but I can currently equip almost every given weapon in the game with my current build (and I'm still under level 100).
Secondly, just because the weapons have different animations doesn't mean the playstyle is at all different. The game forces you to play fast. I'm still just going to be rolling a shitload and spamming R1. When I mix up my stats and gear in a Souls game the way I approach enemies changes dramatically.
>You can also go Bloodtinge; there are legitimate builds that focus on ranged damage.Care to link to one? From what I could whip up with some basic math, guns did not seem to deal any significant output at any point. Sounded more tedious than fun.
>Having said that, if you go Arcane there are indeed spells (in the form of usable items that consume QS bullets)Right, forgot about those. That gives me some hope for a second playthrough.

>>11739 I wouldn't trust random builds if I were you, but the shotgun-style weapons deal damage per pellet, so it's possible that one of them could be good for a bloodtinge build. However, the most apparent gun to use is Evelyn, the long-barrelled pistol. It has very good bloodtinge scaling (B unupgraded). I've also heard the cannon is very effective, although it doesn't scale very much. That one requires 30 strength to wield, so careful with that. Also be sure to use bone marrow ash.

>>11603 I don't see the aliens as being forced into the story.
It's cosmic horror and aliens are generally outside of our understanding.
I'm also leaning more towards the dream and nightmare are pocket dimensions belief. I remember reading that "victims" of ufo abductions describing it as a dream. The old ones could just be some higher entities that fuck around on Earth for reasons. Didn't they destroy a desert city in the past too?
The aliens are shapeshifters/illusionist from what I've seen too. Losefka appears as a human from the lamp side of her door and as an alien from the back entrance. She still appears as a human if you don't kill the alien and talk to her from the lamp entrance. The messenger spell states that it's nothing more than an illusion too.

>>11799 If des did come before then Boletaria could be what happens when the old ones are allowed to manifest into our reality. They separated Boletaria from the rest of the world in a dense fog too. It could have been the merger between two worlds.
Didn't the demons in that game require the king's invitation before they started consuming every soul? They were shape shifters as well.

Okay let’s try to break down the builds Seems the more viable builds are STR, SKL, BLD and ARC. BLD can be combined with STR and SKL for different builds for example: BLD + SKL focuses on trick gun weapons like Reiterpallach and the Rifle Spear, on the other hand a BLD + STR can focus on heavy weapons such as the Cannon. ARC is a hard build to justify because of the high consumption makes it complicated in PVE, but ARC in my opinion is viable as a PVP build. Players take a lot of damage for magic and you have skills like Messenger’s Gift as trap spells, also if you use equip the rune that recovers QS with V. ATK the build becomes far more possible. Other combination seem can occur and you also have VIT and END as variables with the inclusion of weapon based build (for example Ludwig’s Blade and Chikage have multiple stat buffs). Finally there are certain build which are unlikely such as a Range and a Tank. The tank can be debatable because of the existence of the Lead Elixir + a Heavy weapon like the Wheel; of course it would make the game a lot less playable because of it. Range is nigh impossible, the best distance weapons are the Repeating Gun and Evelyn which don’t have any range, also mostly used for chip damage. I hope somebody finds this useful. By the way I admit that there are less options.

God damnit the NPC enemy at the Grand Cathedral on Eileen's Story is fucking horrible. Takes about 50-100 damage from faster weapons at +6, probably has around 2k health, gun is 2-hit kill to nearly 1 hit kill depending on range, sword is 2-3 hit kill, heals himself once, dodges and gunparries like a motherfucker. Ragequit twice already, but not gonna stop trying. By far the most punishing NPC fight in any Souls game I've seen so far. You can wait that motherfucker out by just dodging well and letting his weapon drain his own health on 2hand mode to last 50% (after selfheal), but after that it seems like he stops using it on that mode. Can't hit him twice in a row safely lest you get gun parried. Hell, once he shot me dead after I landed a single hit before I could even dodge afterwards. Fuck that guy.
