>>5111Not at all. Edgy is simply party aesthetic (red, black, white palette, spiky hair, that shit) combined with certain personality traits (brooding, angry, swears a lot). Now, if a character ONLY has edge going for them, they will inherently be a shitty character. But edge doesn't have to be bad, it can even be good, so long as there is something else to them.
Take Ragna for instance. When he starts out, he's an angry, impulsive, foul-mouthed, serial killing asswipe with a tragic backstory out for revenge. Incredibly cliche. But as the story goes on, you see he's not a bad person. When the world isn't trying to screw him over, he's a kind if a bit gruff guy who likes cooking and cute, fuzzy animals. On top of that, as the story goes on, he develops into a far more mature, wise person. I'd go as far as to say the contrast between this part of his character and the whole "edgy" thing actually serves to make him a lot better.
>>5113Ragna and a few other characters are good. Can't defend it's writing as a whole, though.
