I could never gitgud at the multiplayer scene of most RTS games mostly because muh clicks per minute are too low. I do love playing the campaigns for RTS games though, and in that respect my favorites I've played are Warcraft III, AoE, and Starcraft.

I love city builders but they get repetitive and tedious I love base building RTS but instead of building I have to spend all my time cranking out everything as fast as possible I love more tactical RTS like CoH/MoW but everything happens too fast for me to give precise orders and set everything up the way I want. I love Doorkickers because of the level of control you get over your units. TBS/TBT is awesome but it isn't quite the same. I want a beautiful RTS like AoE2 with detailed and customizable base building mechanics with less pressure to tech rush and roll up shitloads of army units, and an arena RTS with micromanageable combat like MoW and formations, varied and interesting terrain, with pause. That's my RTS pie in the sky dream. For now I'll keep swapping back and forth between SC2, AoE2, Banished, Anno, etc., and wishing there was a game that incorporated aspects of all of them. Also Grey Goo was pretty good/promising before it immediately died.

Men of War, Aurora, Hearts of Iron I like games that are actually difficult.

>>7265 >I love base building RTS but instead of building I have to spend all my time cranking out everything as fast as possible I remember playing AoE2 with my friends a few months ago. We spent a solid month's worth of nights just playing and having good times. Then one of them figured out how to use proper build orders and we had to step our game up, and conversations shifted to build orders and meta tactics, but it was still fun.
Then that same friend who first stepped it up a notch figured out how to maximize his APM and used the Scout/ranged/Treb tactics to ignore most gold requirements past the Feudal age and just cover us in 150 scouts. After it became apparent that the only way to beat him was to either go full tryhard or just gangpile him 3 on 1 before Castle Age, we stopped playing AoE2.
Then we switched to AoM and we've been having shenanigans ever since.

>>14040 I'll be honest, SCFA's spoiled me for other RTS, not being able to zoom out all the way is fucking shit, and after the joy of radar/sonar it's really fucking annoying to have fog of war just totally block out everything.

>>7299 >protip: games that depend on clicks per minute are not RTS's Yes they are. In fact, that's the inevitable consequence of =real time= strategy. If you want a game where you can take your time and think, you better play turn based instead. In RTS, time is of the essence and if the match is even you =must= use your time and resources efficiently to win. It is inherent in the mechanics, at least in base building RTS'. If you aren't dependent on clicks per minute you have poor opponents or aren't even trying to win.
I agree that games that require clicks per minute are shite, but your statement is incorrect.

I was recently playing a game called "Warzone 2100", it's pretty neat you could customize your own units. and it's also free
