Okay, so I didn't technically purchase it, but still, what are some good overhaul mods to make me feel less shitty about downloading this?

Specifically

>Are there any that fix it's failed abortion of a combat system? Mods that give the battle the "crunch" factor that Rome I and Medieval II had?

>Are there any that restore classic campaign mechanics similar to Rome I and Medieval II?

I really do want to enjoy it's purty graphics and cool looking ships, but the battle mechanics are soulless and the campaign play is fubar

Just play Attila instead, its everything Rome II should have been.

I can't go back to playing other TWs now since Rome II did so many little things right and yet so many big things wrong.

Properly being able to flexibly move and arrange hotkeyed groups is fucking gold. You don't get that in any other TW game and it's aggravating as fuck.

Even though the units have no feeling of momentum, cavalry is useless, the campaign map is farmville-tier casual?

>the units have no feeling of momentum, cavalry is useless
That's because it still uses the engine designed for Empire and Napoleon with ranged combat. It's all dependent on animations, so it feels sluggish and there's a lot of niggery going on.

But goddammit I've realized that being able to flexibly rearrange unit formations without having to break their groups and remake them every time is such a goddamned useful thing that I don't have the heart to even play FotS.

Napoopan is weird. It's definitely the best ranged TW before FotS came out, and it improves over Empire drastically in everything from UI to bugfixes to game mechanics to little tweaks. It's a solid game.

But the thing is that it doesn't have the same scope as Empire and it's very limited in the campaign map. Even on Very Hard it's laughably easy and quite rapidly possible to get to the snowball point as any faction. In Empire or FotS this wasn't such a big problem (even though it's also easy to snowball in those games, or any TW game really) since by the time you got to that point there were one or two other major factions that at least made the end-game interesting.

It's a very polarizing game, and if you have FotS I'd suggest just playing that. If you have Empire you can also get Darthmod for it that basically improves it in all the ways Napoopan did, except it keeps the grand scope. Sadly Darthmod for Empire that was the last Darthmod that was worth a damn.

Thanks anon, just one more question, if I have FotS is it not worth to get Empire and Darthmod too?

It's your choice. Empire+Darthmod is about the same quality as Napoopan vanilla, they just differ in scope. Otherwise I enjoy the shit out of FotS because it molds all of the gameplay elements of the TW series into a very enjoyable package that's easily the best TW since Medieval II.

Europa Barbarorum II seems pretty good

Divide and Conquer is a sub mod for Third Age that breathes some fresh life into it
