What are some good rpgs with good buff/debuff classes? They always seem to be pretty much useless, especially debuff characters, with regular battles being too short for them to matter and bosses being immune.

Maybe not what you're after but buffing/debuffing and status are usually necessary in SMT

The thing about buff classes is that they're reliant on good teammates, which needs either good AI or human squads. Can't think of any good ones outside of MMO's for this reason.

Etrian Odyssey series tends to have useful support/buff/debuff classes. Putting an entire encounter to sleep at once or sealing a dangerous enemy's moneymaker skill is wonderful.
