I visited the black desert fansite recently and it seems that the outrage over the lack of difficulty and abundance of soloable content caused them to rethink the design for the western release.

But I think Black Desert's gonna flop anyway.

The Secret World if you're into survival horror thing.
Granted, the oh-so-original classless system is just another take on classic Ultima/SWG style building, combat is meh and PvP is total crap but it is the closest you can get to Silent Hill Online. With some Resident Evil and Alone in the Dark sprinkled over it for effect.

Other Funcom MMOs are also nice, Conan if you're into PvP and Anarchy if you're into sci-fi but this is Funcom we're talking about, they WILL screw things up every two patches only to redo them in next five patches.

Fuck MMOs, give Phantasy Star Online 2 a try.

People who participated in the second alpha will have their characters back, levels and all. Most likely they will have zero items and their skills will be reset. Mabinogi has a cool combat system among other things. I really like the blocking and countering system

I personally play Aion on and off, it's not too bad and pretty populated. There's a 'fast-track' server and also the standard server whereby the fast-track has people from all the available servers playing on it, so you'll always find a group and see other people playing all the time.

I see guilds recruiting pretty often too. It is a WoW-clone, and also Korean, but the leveling is fast as fuck now compared to when you had to pay monthly. Grinding the two gathering classes is still slow and boring, though.

Beware of your account name and shit too, my main account (from when I used to pay a subscription) was hacked by some Chinese fucker then gave the details to a Japanese fucker, then I got permabanned, losing my character I spent years building.

The music, btw, is absolutely phenomenal and the graphics are pretty nice too from a MMO made in like 2008 or whenever it came out.

swtor has nice storylines, pay 5$ to upgrade from f2p (ultra-pleb tier) to preffered status which makes it playable.

firefall is worth playing untill you realise there's nothing to do except to level more classes, but doing it just once for the storyline is nice. it's completely free.

Is RIFT really that bad? I've been wanting to get into it since I found out it went free to play and found out that there was like… a bard subclass or something like that because, let's face it, we need more bards in games that aren't joke characters. Can someone give me the good, bad and ugly of the game in its current state?

But that's precisely what I'm looking for. Something based on the tab targeting thing that I can just relax and play. I love slow, comfy games and it's part of why I enjoyed WoW (seriously, I'd get lost in Elwynn and Darkshire just looking at trees).

That's why I put in under opinion things. Some people like action combat over tab target and some people (Read: Casuals) don't like the trinity and prefer that their character can be all three. The games pretty comfy and I didn't quit over any gameplay or management reason. I quit since there was absolutely no OCE players so whenever open world events were happening it felt like a single player RPG.
