Here in the state of Georgia if you get straight convicted for less than 1 oz. (28g), it's up to a year in jail, up to $1000 fine and in addition to that, they can suspend your license for up to 3 years. Second time is a felony, so you go to prison, you can't vote and you have every single right taken away.
Although with my case in Atlanta, they didn't prosecute me and they only made me do 80 hours of community service at a homeless shelter. They also made me take two drug tests for $30 each, which I'm pretty sure I failed both of them. You can fail the first one and they make you take a second one. I'm pretty sure I failed the second one too, but I got the prosecutor's office to sweep it under the rug because the city REALLY didn't feel like prosecuting a marijuana offender like me. There are too many real criminals in Atlanta that they have to deal with. In other words, I never stopped smoking after I got arrested.
