Here is a puzzle with the reward of becoming a board volunteer.

Tiny Chis Campbell fitted very good conduits. Using U bolts, copper tech and many other wares to get the job done. Not only did he make the job much more simple and faster, he put a huge smile on his boss' face at how much he can get a job done fast. Who is Tiny Chris Campbell?

Welcome anons

The board culture is the same as /b/ pretty much. No cancer. Make this your home and treat it well. We don't want a purge so soon into it's creation (too much hassle). I will be accepting board banners from the users by just posting them in this thread. We will also hold monthly competitions on the board motto in which the winner chooses the sentence. Enjoy.

This is something I find fascinating. Something about the existence of unusually large creatures in unusual places is really interesting to me, especially considering that our ancestors lived among and killed these creatures, sometimes even to extinction. Feel free to lurk and even contribute; I hope someone finds this as cool as I do.

Put simply, there were fairly large and unusual animals that lived all over the world not too long ago. These animals were generally larger than the ones alive today, and they coincided with the existence of humans, even making it into myths and stories of Aboriginals, Maori, and other folk cultures around the world.

Probably the most famous species of Pleistocene megafauna is the wooly mammoth, which is now extinct.

Here's Megatherium, a gigantic ground sloth the size of a modern elephant. It lived in South America around 10,000 years ago. It's thought that humans hunted it to extinction (that's right, your ancestors ate so much giant sloth that they ceased to exist). It was one of the largest mammals in existence at the time, the only two larger creatures being the mammoth and Paraceratherium, the largest terrestrial mammal ever to have existed.

Gigantic wombat named Diprotodon lived in Australia. This one actually wasn't killed off by humans, although it's thought that early aboriginals encountered it.

Let's ruin OP's thread!!!!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Largest_prehistoric_animals

But, seriously, these fucks scare the shit out of me. Look into the link and post if you find something fun.

My favorite of these is Leviathan melvillei. Pic related. But how did they take a photo if it is ancient? You know what this whale eats? Other fucking wales, motherfucker!

Length - 15m (50 feet)

Skull length - 3m (10 feet)

Length of a tooth - 36 cm (14 inches)

Weight - 50 tons (about 13 monster trucks)

Found when - 2008 AD (After The Birth of Jesus Christ)

Found where - Near Peru (Whatnow?)

Funny thing - they had already found teeth in the past. Imagine finding a tooth of that size and then trying to recreate a beast after that.

Now there was the Megalodon shark that lived at the exact fucking time and place. It was just as long as this whale, meaning that they have met.

So Leviathan is slowly (because of robust shape) swimming, looking for other whales to bite. Then a Megalodon spots it. So while the whale has the bigger brain and much bigger teeth, Megalodon is faster and usually goes for the fins (How do scientists know the exact tactics, I don't know). So Megaladon is fast, trying to run around poor Bigwhale, biting him all the time and going at it's fins. And the fucker is fast compared to the whale. The problem is, Megaladon is not used to whales this size and has no idea how to approach it. But all it takes to make one fucking mistake and once it gets in the jaws of Leviathan, it doesn't get bit. It gets completely crashed, no matter which part. The teeth are much bigger and jaws wider, so it doesn't bite, it crushes.

Holy fuck would I like to see that..

This stuff is cool. It's nice to see that someone cares about all the neat creatures that existed after the dinosaurs but before modern times

Here's a classic one that we killed off by accident. The Dodo. These flightless, ground-nesting birds were once bountiful on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. Larger than turkeys, dodos weighed about 23 kg (about 50 pounds) and had blue-gray plumage and a large head. With no natural predators, the birds were unfazed by the Portuguese sailors that discovered them around 1507. These and subsequent sailors quickly decimated the dodo population as an easy source of fresh meat for their voyages. The later introduction of monkeys, pigs, and rats to the island proved catastrophic to the languishing birds as the mammals feasted on their vulnerable eggs. The last dodo was killed in 1681. Sadly, very few scientific descriptions or museum specimens exist.

Let's make some OC anons. We've got nothing much more to do on this board but to solve puzzles and I know not everyone is interested in that so let's make some OC. Does not matter if it comes out shitty just try it out. The worst that can happen is that you lost a few minutes of your life and no one saves your OC.

Here are some things to help out:

Free image editor: http://www.gimp.org/

Free sound/music editor: http://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/

Free Video Editor: Windows movie maker who really gives a shit.

Corruption: See corruption thread

Text/Storys/Copypasta: Just save it in notepad or something.

Other?: I don't fucking know

I know all of you have had something in your mind that you have said to yourself, "That would be pretty funny" or "I'll just make it at some point"

Well now is that point Just Do IT! Just fucking take the time and try to contribute something! Just do it!

Hey /1123/, what books and authors appeal to your tastes? I am stumped on the next book I am going to read and popular review sites are authored by faggots. Care to post a few recommendations?

I personally like Haruki Murakami's "Kafkha on the Shore" since it's outlandish story appeals to me and I have read "Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafón since it's characters are really well fleshed out. Post your favorites here.

I have read "Shadow over Innsmouth" by H.P Lovecraft and liked it although the writing style can be a bit erratic but you are able to follow it without too much difficulty. I found the descriptive language very well done though.

File: 1435354453185.jpg (23.54 KB, 252x393, 84:131, Turnerdiariescover.jpg)

Any of Nietzsche's writings, and Edgar Allen Poe's Short Story's are always great reads for me. The next book on my list is Darwin's "The Origin Of Species".

One book that I would like to own a physical copy of is The Turner Diaries, but that seems impossible to do without ending up on some watch list.

 No.299

>>297

I always disliked Nietzsche. Not because he is bad, but because he is absolutely irrelevant now. The fight about God's ideals and all is done. The fight is over. While it might be a good literature per se, it is a bloody boring "Guys, we need to create fire" now. I just seem bored and those ideas are not revolutionary anymore. Again - not a bad writer, but pretty sure not relevant anymore. Poe is golden though

Now I recently turned to classics and read Jekil and Hyde. That was bloody awesome, completely different than any adaptation I've seen. Even if you know the basics of it (as everyone sure does), it still has some things that are only in the book. As well as some ideas, to which you can disagree or agree (and that is the best.)

After that I started pretty happy to read Frankenstain… Holy shit is that a piece of a fucking shit bloody fucking drivel. Only in about half the story fucking starts. The same Alp mountains are described 10 fucking times and all the dialogues are bloody fucking same.

> And Susie was a calm lady, sophisticated one: "Oh my dear, my beloved brother, oh how I graved and pained to miss you oh for so many days and so many nights"

> While Jeberqueck was well read in Arabic literature and always used tales of the East in his speech: "Oh, my dear, my beloved one, thou did not have to grave and pain when missing me, oh not these many days and many nights were I ever hurt."

Seriously, fuck that. No one of them had any personality, no one. Including ESPECIALLY the monster himself. 2/fuck, throw that shit out.

I recently read a book called The Prague Cemetery

This book is basically /pol/ and/or a parody of /pol/; the second chapter, in particular, goes on an on about why every race in inferior to each other. there's a line where the main character narrator says "I only became French because I couldn't stand being Italian!"

Great book, highly recommend.
