Welcome to /1cc/! All conversations pertaining to arcade hardware and arcade games allowed. Games that aren't specifically coin-ops but have arcade gameplay are allowed too.

Does NOT work, even if it does launch there are no controls hooked up. Maybe somebody might have fun trying to get this to run, but more likely not….:^)

Enjoy!

Been trying to play CD games on Ootake (A TurbGrafx/PC Engine emulator). I want to play that Castlevania game but I can't get it to open. I have the BIOS that are necessary. What exactly do I need to do?

Make sure to read this:

The game by default supports keyboard and joysticks apart from the JAMMA board, I just enabled it (sounds easy eh).

The keys are a bit weird, since they change in every screen, but basically they are (in my keyboard, it can differ):
- In menu
-- space bar -> Select
-- left and right arrows -> move around
-- F1 A -> 1 (change car, more cars)
-- B -> 2 (car color)
-- E -> 3 (neon color)
-- End -> skip upgrade

- In game
-- space bar -> back to attract mode
-- A -> Gas
-- S Z -> Brake
-- N -> Nitrous
-- Numpad 4 -> Left
-- Numpad 6 -> Right
-- W -> Wheelie
-- F1 F2 F3 -> Change camera

- Anywhere
-- F11 -> Crash
-- Esc -> Camera menu
-- V -> Show build version
-- O P -> Volume -/+
-- Alt+F4 -> Quit

The rest of keys (operator menu, etc) are unknown for me, you can try and tell us your results.

Useful Switches:
-res1 160x120 -res3 320x240
-res5 512x384 -res6 640x480
-res8 800x600 -res10 1024x768
-res12 1280x1024 -res16 1600x1200
-joy to use a joystick/wheel
-fsaa2 -fsaa4 -fsaa8
-nocountdown -noracers -notraffic -nomusic
-parts -pimp

Make sure to use D3DWindower if you want to run this game in a window

Go into the bs09/cfg folder inside the game files and make a new text file called "autoexec.cfg", in it insert the following text:

bs_nocard_weaponslot 8
bind KP_END "changelevel cd_map_001"
bind KP_DOWNARROW "changelevel cd_map_002"
bind KP_PGDN "changelevel cd_map_003
bind KP_INS "changelevel bs_map_p001"
bind KP_5 "disconnect"
bind KP_HOME "bs_card_show"
bind KP_PGUP "thirdperson"
bind KP_UPARROW "firstperson"

This will unlock the following:

>1) All classes have all 8 weapons unlocked by default

>2) Able to use a simulation of the card reader by hitting numpad 7 when asked to insert the card, not very functional at the moment but you can make a new card with it and go through the motions

>3) Able to switch between any one of the three available maps by hitting number pad 1, 2 or 3 when a match loads. It'll carry over the same conditions of the last match you launched, so if you're playing a team battle it will remain a team battle, a single battle will remain a single battle. Do not use when launching practice mode (Although you can load the practice stage by hitting numpad 0 if you get stuck, or just quit the match)

>4) Ability to quit the match at any time by hitting numpad 5

>5) Switch between third person and first person by hitting numpad 8 / 9

Have fun!

 No.14

I use it, and I'm really happy with the performance and the amount of people on it. It is kind of a pain to find ROMs though, since it uses an old FBA build and all the roms I can find are for MAME. I do have a fun time playing JoJo's Bizarre Adventure though.

Everything past 2005 is 5GB+, for example Paradeiso Perdidas and Battle Gear.

Battle Gear 4 doesnt even look that good, why is it 5GB? Is it cause modern arcade games arent compressed at all for the sake of speed?

Actually it's because hard drives are cheap, You can stuff in all the data you want as well as the changing times. Just look at how big PC games are these days compared to back then, it applies to arcade games too.

Arcade games traditionally tend to be smaller because the games of back then used to use surface mounted ROMs which were prohibitively expensive and offered small amounts of space but had the benefit of instantaneous loading and top notch reliability which is desirable in an arcade environment. Now that they're based on PCs with standard hard drives they have the benefit of being able to stuff it with as much data as they want, at the cost of slower loading speeds and higher failure rates.

>>95

>Battle Gear 4 doesnt even look that good, why is it 5GB? Is it cause modern arcade games arent compressed at all for the sake of speed?

If I had to hazard a guess I'd say uncompressed audio is the culprit as it usually is.

Look on ebay, tons of machines and cabs are sold on there. Be wary of it's condition though since you'll have to be doing a LOT of maintenance to keep them running. Arcade boards are very DIY and you'll need to know a lot of basic shit about wiring.

PLEASE

FUCK

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm trying to listen to the game, moron. Arcades are always too noisy as a consequence rather than it being a strength. Arcades are strong because of their unique inputs and communities

It needs more multiplayer games, less kids, less noise and more weird stuff with odd inputs like IIDX & boinga boinga or whatever that butt game is

I'd go all the time for fighters which are just as popular as ever, just isn't any near me. Lot of people who are still stuck on controllers might be cool with spending a few bucks on a machine rather than buy a controller for a hundred before they even know if it's worth it.
