One of my favorite kind of games. Really dead, because you can't proprely enjoy these games with a cool port on PC or consoles.

Let's talk about Tetris, (the japanese versus based games on arcade and PC) Puyo Puyo, Magical Drop, Panel de Pon, etc.

Tetris the Grandmaster 3 runs on Windows though, and it's objectively the BEST version of tetris

These are some of my favorite games of all time. I haven't tried Magical Drop though. Tetris, Puyo, and Panel de Pon are my favorites.

I've only been able to play a Tetris cabinet once. I think it was one of these. I was really disappointed that it wasn't endless style, but instead moved you to a new level every few line clears, each time adding garbage to the bottom of the screen. It was a neat experience, but I was kinda glad to get back to TGM.

Why is it the best version, anon?

I'm not him, but if you're into Tetris and you haven't played TGM, then you need to get on that shit right now. It has a great aesthetic, lets you play without SRS's lock delay bullshit, and has a ranking system that no one sane will ever try to beat. I can't find a source for how many people have actually reached the Grand Master rank, but I assure you it's a very small number.

If you want to get into the details (differences between rotation systems, how to qualify for each rank) then you can read here: http://tetris.wikia.com/wiki/Tetris_The_Grand_Master_3_Terror-Instinct

And here's a video of a guy actually getting GM (it's not representative of an average playthrough so I didn't embed it): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_b6H8dHHm0

Not even for 3DS? I'd be fine if it were Japan only even

I never got into Tetris beyond farting around with it on the brickboy, but this sounds pretty intense. Thanks for the write-up, anon.
