HIS IS FUCKING TRUE, personal anecdote incoming. We had one of these guys at my highscool. He was a somewhat autistic only child of an elderly lawyer and his trophy mailorder Chinese wife, the kind of kid who was never socialized properly at home and who, upon attempted integration into a teenage peer group, failed miserably, repeatedly. Every year his reputation as being the "weird kid" got worse and worse despite his seemingly having the best intentions, he was just so awkward and unable to "pass" in a normal conversation without reverting to cartoonish phrasing/intonation.
For the first few years (I went to the same school with him from 7th-12th grade) he was somewhat of a sympathetic figure to the crowd, despite his helicopter parents ruining the teaching experience for any teacher who dared to give him fair grades for his assignments. His father would phone administrators and complain if his son got anything less than A's and would debate the reasoning for his grades with the teachers specifically, this happened a bunch of times over the years and he eventually acquired a reputation for it.
