Oh well. I only figured this out yesterday and i had booze leftover from yesterday. If i take it I doubt I will go out and actually buy booze, so that may be effective.

Isn't naltrexone to stop using opiates though? I didn't know it worked for alcohol addiction too.

Taper down with the booze either way, don't go cold turkey or you're going to fuck your shit up.

Alcohol causes the brain to release endogenous opioids (endorphins and so forth) that bind to the mu-opioid receptor, and leads to the euphoric and addictive effects of alcohol. Naltrexone blocks this too, so if you take it before drinking you basically feel the physical effects of being drunk but don't feel euphoric or high the way you normally would.

And yeah, rehab was shit and a waste of money. I've been drinking about 2-3x a week the past 4 weeks and haven't touched any other drugs in over a month, and this came about without rehab this time around.

I thought alcohol only acted on the dopamine receptors and on GABA subtypes.

Maybe that's why it was used as an anaesthetic a long while ago.
