Has it occured to anyone else that they could be seen as representing different minority / social problem groups?

Freddy represents blacks. Big, brown and hairy, he fulfills the role of the "big dumb Negro", also he wears a top hat, which today is heavily associated with early 20th century black entertainers, though whites wore it as well, it was even more common with blacks to make them look "civilized and acceptable", and that's what many might know it as today. And of course the hat itself is literally black.

Chica represents Latin Americans, with their high birth rate and loud public behaviour - Chica has the loudest and most irritating scream of the four. They're also successful in cooking, and Chica is supposedly the cook of the crew, and of course Chica is not just a Spanish name, but could allude to Chicanos, a heavily despised and feared criminal network.

Bonnie represents gays, with his androgynous name, feminine behaviour and postures. Both rabbits, the color purple and bow ties have been associated with gay males in various cultural tropes.

Foxy is more difficult to pinpoint, but presumably he represents organized crime, or maybe criminals overall, being obviously prone to violent and unpredictable behaviour. Or could he perhaps represent the developer's fear of software piracy? His speed could reflect how pirates may release and spread material before it's available to buy….

What do you think about this theory and how does this affect your interpretation of the rest of the game?

>Chica is not just a Spanish name, but could allude to Chicanos,
Wrong on both. It's not a name but the female form of "chico" (boy).

> His speed could reflect …
That's an afterthought. Bonnie was originally the one that would sprint to the office (see the original trailer)

Why some people had to overanalize everything and see sociopolitical implications on even the most simple stuff?

It's a fucking minigame!
