Dearest /8lounge/,
I shall be indulging in lack of sleep this evening.
How does one go about pulling of this miraculous feat of staying up
>>>/late/?
No.2212
I've learned to do it. Over the course of university, I started staying up later and later. I currently go to sleep at about 6am.

I think the last time I was on a "normal" sleep schedule was back in middle school. I'm almost never awake for less than 24 hours at a time anymore.

Ignore how tired you feel. Play a game. Listen to some music. Browse the internet lazily. I find that reading much makes me feel sleepy early in the night, maybe avoid that?
For me I get to about 2 AM and then don't feel sleepy anymore. I get this insane energy rush too.
Your energy levels will probably be pretty high for a while and then crash later in the day if you pull an all nighter.
If you go to bed at 1am~ or so it will affect your ability to concentrated rather adversely, or at least that is my experience.
The night is my favourite time, but it made me a daytime zombie. You should try not to wreck your body clock.
I find that the sun helps fix your body clock quite substantially.
Good luck! Also, does black tea have caffeine in it? If it does it might be able to help you.
Oh yeah. Sitting in complete darkness will make you sleepy for sure. Have lighting, dim is fine.
Again, good luck!

I sleep twice a day, from 1 am to 5 am at night, and 2pm to 5pm in the evening which gets me a good 7 hours of sleep. I work from home so this works out quite well.

General tips:
-Keep your surroundings well lit. This will stave off the "night=sleep" reflex that your body has.
-Find something to snack on. Something you like that can be consumed every 10 minutes or so throughout the night in small amounts. A few chips, a spoonful of yogurt, a dozen M&Ms, something like that. Go for strong flavors and extreme temperatures.
-Be rested. Going all day, staying up all night, and going all day again is taxing. If you can slip a 2-3 hour nap into the day before you pull an all-nighter, you'll be in a much better position.
-Find something to do. Vidya, web browsing, cooking, cleaning, Netflix binging, whatever. As long as you find it to be adequately diverting, you might not even notice that you've wiled away the night.
-Get up and move. Even if you greatly enjoy what you're doing, repetition will put you to sleep. A few seconds of light exercise every 30 minutes or so will shake up the rhythm and keep you alert.
If you are awake because you need to do something dull, then take breaks every hour to do something else. Even if you are under time constraints. Nothing is worse than fucking up a report because you got sleepy and forgot where the decimal point goes.
THINGS TO AVOID:
-Sex/Masturbation. Unless you can go all night and just put it away without finishing, the post-orgasmic crash will get you.
-Stuffing your face. Being full triggers sleepy reactions, so avoid consuming large amounts of food.
-Soft, soothing music. Any music that you would describe as "relaxing" will push you towards sleep.
I'm not an expert, by any means; this is all anecdotal. I stay up for 48-72 hour stretches on a fairly regular basis, and these things work for me.
