I think the people who are too obsessed with something as ethereal as "chan culture" are killing the place with their endless meta talk and inability to accept that the internet will never ever be the way it was in the past.

if there were a set of ideal bare minimum rules to be a decent poster, it would have to be

1. don't use smileys on imageboards
2. don't respond to intentionally dumb comments
3. don't bump poppycockty threads
4. don't post about yourself unless it's relevant.

A vast majority of people who think of themselves as oldgents can't do any of these. seniority hardly matters these days.

Feels like they grow fewer and fewer by the day. Also, all this "triggered" and "trigger warning: spoilers" crap is starting to get on my nerves. It's like no one can take criticism anymore or see TV spoilers or whatever mundane thing without getting PTSD anymore.

So after this board being advertised everywhere, all the time, forever, I've finally come to visit, and I must say, I'm a little underwhelmed. I figured that with this level of persistent, omnipresent "casual" advertisement it wouldn't be just an offbrand /meta/ whose claim to fame is being around "since the beginning".

Yet I go here an immediately it's exactly that, one of the first threads is a cancerous Wizardchanner with the ever-present non-rare-Pepe-posting and using the pure /soc/ cringe term "normies" for that /leftypol/ vibe when patrician terms such as "normalgent" and "NORP" already exist and carry the same message, minus the victim-complex whinging "normie"-posters have associated themselves with.

Current /r9k/ (here or 4chan) would reach DEFCON 1 from all the "normie" posts, but it's actual fucking content. If someone tried to post Lee Won, Zoe, Chuck E. Cheese, or any stories loved by old /r9k/ today, they'd be drowned out by whining (">going to college/having a job/talking to girls" -> "Fuck off normie/I want normalgents to leave"), poppycockposting, and Pepe images before they could even get past the second post. When all remotely "normal" users are driven away, you lose the ability to hold a conversation because you're left with people who don't do anything and have nothing to talk about besides how much they hate everything.
