The title says it all. Welcome to the online lounge, The "8" Lounge.

GENERAL F.A.Q.

>What is The "8" Lounge?

The "8" Lounge is a board meant for Mr(s). Anonymous members (that's you) to browse and post refined, original, and/or interesting content on. Feel at home while you discuss topics relevant to you: topics from /pol/, /sci/, /mu/, /ck/, /art/, /g/, /fringe/, and yes, even /b/ are welcome.

>Are there board rules?

The global rule exists, but aside from that, members will unlikely face bans. Often, at worst, your thread will be deleted if something is shown to be in poor taste*. You won't be banned for bad-mouthing the mods or board owner, but this doesn't mean it's a thing well-looked upon.

If you act courteously towards others, they will do the same to you.

>*What quantifies as poor taste?

Let's start with what doesn't:
-hate speech
-raids
-topic discussions (i.e. music, traditional games, role-playing, comfy threads, art appreciation, advice threads, food threads, scientific discussions, philosophical discussions, politics, discussions about the board owner / moderators).

Here's what's dubious:
-Tumblr-tier posts (i.e. qt trap genitalia threads).
-4chan /b/-tier posts (i.e. general genetalia threads, posts of nonsensical jibberish, gore threads).
-Reddit-tier posts (i.e. black cuck threads, m00t appreciation threads).

Dubious threads might be deleted, but you are unlikely to receive a ban for creating them.

If you're unsure whether your post quantifies as improper content for this board, please make use of the following checklist:
>>I am posting content that will not benefit others. (_)
>>I cannot explain to myself why the content I am about to post is important. (_)
>>I realize I am about to post a thread of poor quality but just don't care. (_)

If you found yourself checking off any of these statements, you should reconsider posting.

>Posts that will get you banned.

-Child pornography (i.e. images of children where the child is exposed or engaged in a sexual act - not necessarily just pictures of young girls or boys).
-Being a generally unpleasant person (We keep track of poster I.D.s; if you continually make useless posts on this board, post dubious or illegal content, or otherwise act like a mumpsimus, you'll likely get the boot).

If you would like to appeal a ban, you can contact me via email. I will always have my email in the email field of my posts, so by right-clicking my name and selecting "open in new tab", you'll be able to immediately find it.

The "8" Lounge is committed to being a cozy browsing board that takes the best of other popular boards and generates new content.

Kick back, relax, and enjoy the experience.

And a warm welcome to any new-comers.

 No.122

I don't quite get it, is this a random-themed board for serious discussion?

 No.124

>>122
Relatively serious discussions. It was created to provide a comfy lounge-like board for a variety of posters and people who are sick and tired of unsavouryposts.

 No.125

So are namegents basically welcome here?

 No.126

>>125
It would probably be hypocritical of me to say they weren't. Generally, people who use names or tripcodes in threads help to keep spam to a minimum, since people can publicly see their posts, holding them as a result to some level of accountability.

So the short answer is yes, namegents are definitely welcome.

 No.155

Man I really don't want this board to die. It's kinda nice. Board owner, you should go spy on other boards and see how they became popular

 No.157

>>155
Nah, it won't die. It just opened yesterday.

Boards usually start off slow and pick up an audience as they go along. Just keep creating posts and promote the lounge on other boards.

I know a few boards used requests for moderators to build up an audience. It got Mr(s). Anons browsing because everyone wanted mod positions.

 No.167

>>155
>>157
Indeed, gents. We've been open for about half a month, but I only started making this board presentable yesterday. Before that, The "8" Lounge had no rhyme nor rhythm - and certainly no purpose.

Soon, I hope to see it become a hub for sharing interesting internet content! (It would be great if you helped spread the word too).

 No.201

I thought the background of this board was beige, and that is simply because I am using a filter that blocks blue light during the night time as to not throw off my circadian rhythm. I highly advise checking out the filter, it will improve your sleeping habits: https://justgetflux.com/

but even more so than that, I recommend that after checking out the color of the board with the filter applied, the owner ought to change the theme of the board to the color scheme of the blue filtered board.

 No.226

>>201
I downloaded and tried the filter out, Mr(s). Anon. It's interesting but I personally like the colour scheme as it is now. If a number of people suggest a different colour for the board, I think it should be fairly straightforward changing it.

 No.260

>>226
Are my eyes playing a trick on me? The board is beige and I am not using a device that has the filter installed, infact the filter would not be active during this time of day anyways. Was the board always actually beige? Could it be that it appeared blue to me due to the absence of the red filter when I turned off the filter?

 No.263

I tested this out. On some browsers the color scheme is beige while on other browsers it is blue. With the filter applied it is always beige.

I play in a hard rock/metal band. I was wondering if posting our music here would be bordering on bad taste and douchegentlemanry - on one hand, more exposure would absolutely be of benefit to myself and my bandmates. On the other hand, posting our music here instead of sticking to public media like Facebook, Twitter, and Reverbnation might be more ideal.

What do you think?

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem with their options menu but I am and since I actually copied this bit of CSS to use on my board so I took the liberty of fixing it if you are interested.

.options_tab input[type="button"]{
top:42px;
width:calc(10% - 4px)!important;
left:20px!important;
}

I'm not good with CSS which is why I copied some of yours in the first place but from what I can figure it was two things. The Width was originally set to 100% making it so the button was as wide as the box and then it misplaced itself at the top and the position:absolute which was also causing it to appear over the other buttons. But like I said I dunno much about this since I never used it before and I'm basically teaching myself by reading other board's CSS and incorporating it into my own.

 No.2597

>>2546
Strange, I'd never noticed that before. I also learned to work with CSS by studying pre-made stylesheets. I'll see if adding this code helps fix anything.

 No.2609

>>2597
From what little I understand, the specific snippet of code is for all the similar non-icon buttons inside the options menu. This is a new problem since I wasn't having it a while ago. I figure when Hotwheels disabled some tags last week he must have accidentally fucked with something. But it's not a hard problem to fix really. Just decrease the size of the button so it isn't pushed off and removing the absolute puts it back into it's place next to the customized formatting boxes.

Sup /8lounge/, >>>/svidya/ here. We're looking to create a board ring, the kind were we share traffic by cross-linking each other so that we may all benefit. Rising tides, make all boats float.

We're a splinter from /v/ that has grown sick and tired of the decreasing quality of moderation, discussion, and the rising tide of newfags/poppycockposters that mods refuse to do anything about.

If you are the board owner, we'd love to hear back from you. If you aren't, feel free to give us feedback.

Still looks like this to me.
From the looks of it you put it in your CSS twice instead of replacing the original bit I took out.

This might sound a little daunting but in order to fix this problem you're going to have to actually dig through the giant wall of CSS and find the .options_tab input[type="button"]{} and modify the code within it. The only think I changes about it is the "
width:calc(10% - 4px)!important;" So you can just delete that small bit and replace it with this. After that you need to delete the bit that says "position:absolute;" to get it to stop overlapping the top.

Though thinking about it and toying with it since then I'd just set it to 20% so it would look like "width:calc(20%)!important;" instead.

My screen is 900P so a lot of fixed poppycock is weird with me.

For what it's worth, I'm not planning on submitting a resume to the NSA any time soon. I don't keep a watch over any users's posting histories - though with the moderator controls, that feature is embedded no matter what. I usually just clean poppycockposts up by deleting them as opposed to banning their posters or taunting them (I know there was a problem with this on /pol/ with one of their moderators). You have my word that I won't do anything ridiculous like that.
Call me gullible, but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and believe in the inherent good of human nature.

Everyone has their cringier days. You should also be able to delete posts of yours that you don't like, but in the case where the board tells you that you have the wrong password or there's an error, you can always request that I delete them for you. I also try to fix up any mistakes or typos I come across if posters want them fixed.

If it does you might could fix this by just changing the "sh it"word filter to "shi ty" and then making a new one for poppycock under it. So when it checks them it will check it for "shi ty" first.
