WELCOME TO SOLAR QUEST!

Overview: It's Monopoly in space, and you get to shoot at each other.

I'll be posting the rule book for your viewing pleasure, so take a look. I'll be modifying the board as we go to help keep track of who is in what spot, who owns what, and where fuel stations are.

If you want to play, You can choose between Red, Yellow, White, Black, and Gray for your ship (I have already taken Blue). One color per person. Use a tripcode so we know who is who.

TAKING YOUR TURN

Each turn has 3 steps.

Step 1: Decide if you are going to shoot at players in range or purchase anything before you move

Step 2: Post a roll of 2d6 for your move

Step 2a: If your first roll post resulted in doubles, post again with a 1d36 roll to determine which Red Shift option to follow

Step 3: After you have moved or followed the Red Shift instructions, determine if you wish to shoot anyone in range or buy anything. Keep in mind that you cannot shoot if you have already purchased fuel that turn

If you decide to shoot at someone on your turn, roll enough d6's to cover your shooting in the post that details your action, and take the pairs as they appear.

For example, if you want to shoot 3 times, roll 6d6. if your results are: 1, 3, 3, 3, 6, 4 = 22, then your shot pairs are [1, 3] [3, 3] and [6, 4], so you hit once, and your target owes you $600 from the double 3's.

To keep track of who has what, Post your final money total, owned property list, and fuel level in the last post of your turn.

Every time you leave a planet or moon, you use fuel equal to the distance you traveled. If you leave earth and travel 8 spaces, you use 8 units of fuel.

You cannot land on the black spaces, as they are the gravity well of the nearby planet. It represents you not building up enough speed to achieve escape velocity. If you roll and would land on a black dot, you recount and stay in the system instead. For example, if you are on Oberon and roll a 6, you can't land o that black dot and continue around until you land on Titania instead.

You don't use fuel when you leave from a satellite (Space Dock, Research lab, or Federation station) or from a blue dot, which is a free floating space.

You have a maximum of 25 units of fuel.

I land on the Federation Station, so I collect $450, bringing my total up to $2445. I'll buy 4 fuel stations for $2000 and end my turn.

It's important to remember that fuel stations can be traded back for cash at any time, but can only be bought at Federation stations, so it's to your advantage to buy as many as you can whenever you have the chance.

Another note: When you shoot at someone, you're shooting at the space, not the player. If, in this situation, Yellow were to shoot and hit, he would hit both Blue and White, since they're on the same space.

I'm not necessarily recommending you do that, but I forgot to mention it earlier, since it's not in the printing of the rules that I have.

You can't shoot more times than your fuel allows, so you only get one shot. Luckily, it doesn't cost fuel to move from a free floating space, so you just use 12 units for the shot and roll to move.

Although, had you gotten double 6's, you would have killed us both and won the game in the first round

No worries. One of the advantages to playing on an imageboard is how flexible we can be in our schedule. Kind of like Chess by Mail, but with more memes.

Also, I was thinking of your suggestion to wrap up quick. What if we treat Jupiter's orbit as the whole board, and just stay around it to reduce our chances of spreading out? If we roll a Red Shift that takes us anywhere but Jupiter or the spaces between Earth and Jupiter, we just go to Earth, collect $1000 for landing on Earth, and proceed back into Jupiter so we can continue shooting. A kind of "Small Space" rules variant.
