We also didn't receive any government or emergency requests for user information. If we had received any such requests, we would have seeked to inform users about it and reviewed the claim carefully. 8chan has actively worked to make privacy a right of imageboard users. Unlike other anonymous imageboards on the web, 8chan has taken steps to allow users using the Tor browser to post. 8chan is also the only imageboard of its scale that has a clearly outlined privacy policy, which anyone can read at https://8ch.net/privacy.pdf. We announce changes to the privacy policy two weeks before putting them into effect.

8chan received many DMCA requests during the period between October 23 2013 to March 17 2015. Some of them are outlined on https://8ch.net/dmca, but many are lost. Starting February 23, 2015, 8chan formalized its DMCA handling and began posting all DMCA notices to that board with the action taken. All DMCAs approved were for copyrighted pornographic content that is sold, except one from HBO. Most notably, 8chan rejected DMCAs from Ben Garrison and Julien Blanc during the period.

8chan received one takedown from the German government "Jugendshutz" for the entire board /hebe/. This request was not carried out because specific content was not requested and 8chan is not German and has no ties to Germany, so is not bound by German law.

8chan received one takedown request from the NCMEC branch of the US government over an image posted on the board "/asdw/". After an administrator looked at the board it was determined that the entire board was for the express purpose of distributing child pornography which is against the 8chan Global Rules, so the board was deleted.
