i just frustrated how Haku is an underdeveloped character, his supposed charisma is not apparent or convincing to the viewer unlike Hakuoru which was very apparent. he was capable, driven, intelligent and had a calm and collected demeanor that both intimidated and inspired people.
haku's carefree and lazy attitude is a clever reversal of the character traits but he lacks a certain something that makes him interesting, i am hoping it will be revealed more as the show goes on what makes him special but i think im just expecting too much.
the plot doesn't seem to have a clear focus other than SoL shit that's tired and gay, and the girls are mostly uninspired and boring.
we'll see how the mystery of the fake mask turns out.
mostly the new series is missing the drama and seriousness that juxtaposed the comedy and lightheartedness that made the original show good. the strong sense of progression and unraveling of mysteries. hopefully this is just a problem of pacing and not the creators being lazy and uninspired.

The plot was introduced just as suddenly as the first series did it, but this one wasn't foreshadowed in the slightest (unless it was in the VN), and has no gamechanging explanations.
