What the fuck is going on in this show?
Why do they make a big deal out of the mecha cops being reckless when they spend the whole episode waiting for authorization and playing by the book? They deliberately avoided collateral damage. Why is the ugly bitch even there? Why does she randomly bark engrish despite being Japanese? Why is she underaged when she looks like the oldest slut there?

This ain't Evangelion. What law enforcement would use such unreliable equipment. They barely won and they needed that girls help to hide their identity.
They should have gone with a more overt approach to the recklessness and kept it simple. Not this breaking the law but staying within it type of approach they went with that kind of made this main girls job kind-of pointless and left her as straight man to the more interesting characters.
This one feels like the generic mecha anime.
No.402962
I generally try to watch at least one CGI mecha anime a season, but goddamn if this one doesn't seem like it'll be a trial.
I was faintly reminded of Planetes with the new girl arriving to an established and failing bureau of quirky characters. Then Tiger and Bunny, with the two male MC running around in their suits. I'll be happy if this show reaches at least 1/10th of the greatness of those two shows, but I highly doubt it.

I had absolutely no idea what was going on in this shit. It felt like each of the characters was just an amalgamation of traits with no attention paid to whether or not the traits made any sense together. The new girl is apparently some underage hacker westaboo sent to fix up an elite experimental team who seem to be doing their job perfectly well and she has no clue how to do any of what they're doing? The established team members are all super casual and easy-going but simultaneously hyper competent and professional? You know, if episode 2 had been episode 1 I'd have had a much better first impression of the show. It addressed all the issues I had with the first episode and did a way better job of establishing Unit 8 as dysfunctional outcasts who cause tons of collateral damage and need someone to set them straight. Now the only complaint I still have is that I think the Logos shit with turtleneck man and pink hair loli is going to pan out to be retarded.
No.405969
I don't think Unit 8 is a loose canon. Episode one showed that they honestly went through all the checks and balances that were designed to minimize collateral damage. The fact that they weren't faked out by the escape tricks even showed that their competence did prevent some undue action. The complaints about them being out of control just seem to be politically-motivated critique with the benefit of hindsight.

This episode was actually amazing. The show is complete garbage when they focus on doing legitimate policework, but it was great this episode since the "policework" was doing silly shit like holding an autotuned robot idol concert. Everything came together and it was all fantastic. I hope main girl gets famous for her live and they all tease her about it forever.
The karaoke party scene was also great. If they focused on silly shit that leads to effective policework with tons of collateral damage, and scenes like the karaoke where everyone blows off steam and chats, this show could be amazing.
Hopefully, Mythos and his band of faggots force more crazy encounters while keeping their pimpness strong. They could save the show single-handedly by doing that.
Why is Mythos such a pimp, actually? Does he just have a bunch of young girls waiting on him hand and feet? Is he rich? I thought they were all cyborgs or something at first, but they seem to be real.

The episode was boring shit though. The two main cops are boring as HELL. Even their contrasting attitudes add no flavor to the dynamic. Other shows have done this vastly better, and the actual policework is completely whatever.
I'm starting to think that the show doesn't work without the girl being on the frontlines with them. She might be the missing link that gives those two faggots something compelling to watch. She's wasted on just sitting in HQ and trying to no-fun everyone.

Thank you Dog, for moving the plot along, even if only slightly.
Was anyone at all surprised that the schoolboy faggot was part of LOGOS? I've suspected it for the last 4 episodes or so. It was pretty obvious when they kept giving the school gang scenes, despite having absolutely no relevance to the story whatsoever.
With only three episodes left, I can't see how they'll tie in all the various plot points and unexplained bullshit, such as the quicksand area, LOGOS motives, government corruption, etc etc. Especially if they keep up the current pace of revelation of information.
Maybe it'll all come together if we get a Evangelion-style final 2 episodes. Or hell, maybe they really are aiming for a second season?
No.434227
>>434051
Yeah I had the class president made from the word go, he seemed way too friendly with the boss' sister and always seemed to take every opportunity to bring up Unit 8 and their activities when he spoke with her.
I think they might be able to wrap up the plot line, though it may not be wholly satisfying. The quicksand district seems just like an interesting piece of world building and I guess it helps add a sense of futurism, since beyond the Willwears and computer tech the world seems a lot more contemporary than you'd think for 20 years in the future. A little exposition would suffice since I don't think whatever happened in the flooded district is related to the overall plot.
As for government corruption, that's a given in a show about the police and since there's a supposed build up to an election over the series it's a given that the Governor was going to be connected to LOGOS. I think the the episode with the opposition candidate's aide and this episode did a good job of establishing the corruption angle so it just needs resolving. As for LOGOS, there's no indication of what Steve Jobs and his loli are doing so they're going to be hard pressed to make the wait worth it.
