What do you think about this anime?

Episode pacing is very weird with the OP halfway through the episode and packing in all the eyecatches, outre, and Omake in the second half.

The story is pretty good for what it is. Neighbor designs are terrible, and the action is subpar.

It's a 5/10 anime that doesn't try to be anything more than that, and in doing so manages to become an example of how mediocrity can be enjoyable if the people executing it actually make an attempt.

I want to touch the ugly lolicannon inappropriately

From what I read from the manga I don't really like it.

I'll just tally of some of the reasons:

>Clearly aimed at young teenagers.

>Government is BAAAAD!

>All the troops are young, no good explanation is given for this like "they die if we don't start young" is given.

>Everyone has the same expression all the time, every time.

>Everyone has noodle bodies.

>The pacing is all over the place.

>All the characters seem to have some variant of social retardation. Possibly due to lack of expression.

>Has some interesting concepts, which they fall on their faces when explaining because of poor pacing.

Altogether it feels stale and unremarkable. It's aimed at children though so it's not like I was expecting much.

Gantz will continue to be the "X-COM" manga.

Really great series, definitely one of the best shounen these days. Anime is really faithful but it's Toei, so pretty much unwatchable. Manga is slow at the beginning but speeds up after a bit, especially the invasion arc is great.

Ashihara is absolutely based with his character sheets and comments, he straight up tells you what's on his mind and what he actually thinks about the characters.

>>430586

Literally all of this is bullshit, that's some shit tier baiting.

Not all of it. World Trigger is aimed at I would say 9-12 year old boys.

 No.434229

>>434225

It is shounen but that claim is still pretty bullshit.

It clearly has a softer edge then most shounen. The entire trion body thing just reinforces that. It is like a proxy battle series. It takes away the danger from the character the audience is supposed to self insert as so that they can enjoy the visceral thrill of the battle without being bothered by the consequences. I haven't read the manga, but that is my entire impression from the anime. Mikumo is supposed to be the viewer stand in. The quiet intelligent Japanese boy that is picked on because the bullies don't know the truth of what he really is. Eventually his secret gets revealed and he fully enters into the world he was meant for where he is underpowered. Then he uses his intellect and work ethic to overcome his flaws and become central to the story, except when he gets 360 noscoped through a wall and dies like a bitch. Kuga is there for the edgy proto-chuuni that want to be dark and mysterious and overpowered with a flawed and tragic past. Chika is there for 31 year old unemployed Australian wizards who live in their mother's basement and argue about world trigger with the only other person on 8chan that seems to be aware of the series.

It is a show for an audience that is not quite at that point where they want to think about how mature and adult they are by insisting everything be as dark and edgy as possible.

Stopped reading there, you're just shitposting.

You really aren't helping your argument that this isn't meant for little kids.

>Episode pacing is very weird with the OP halfway through the episode

Seriously, is there any other anime that does this? I've never seen it before.

It isn't even always half way, sometimes it's 2/3rds or so through the episode before it plays.

 No.435946

The anime could be good if they stop shitting all over the main character. The entire cast BUT the main character is great and improves. But the main character continues to be fucking shitty and either lucks out or is carried by everyone else.

Its infuriating that he is just shitty skill wise and does nothing of note.

 No.435975

Back when the manga was just starting to get into swing, on chapter 25ish or something, I gave it a go. It was completely painfully mediocre, tending toward bad.

I dropped it about chapter 15 or something. Just couldn't handle it anymore.

Has it picked up in any fashion? Would you say it's worth another attempt?

 No.435995

The anime suffers from the same pacing problems as most Toei WSJ adaptations, but there's something about the manga that I like.

It's a bit formulaic, but the setting isn't nearly as moralistic as >>430586 implied. Some of the characters that are presented as "bad" early on are later shown to be fairly sympathetic and just have a different perspective than the main characters, especially the adults in Border.

Also I like tactician-type protagonists, and Mikumo is growing into that role nicely.

>No jin in their team

Disappointed. Why is he even so prominent in the opening when he barely plays a role anymore?

 No.440757

>>440753

The team is going to end up being two neighbors and lolicanon.

 No.440760

Yeah it wasn't hard to figure out who he meant, but I would have preferred jin.

He is going to sit in a control room telling people what to do and getting all angsty when ever anyone reminds him he is useless. Then once his team(not him) saves the day he will get too full of himself and everyone will congratulate him for his "tactical genius" that amounted to "Chika shoot stuff," "Kuga bail everyone else out."

Douchebag is a liar and faggot. We knew this right from the beginning when he took credit for the kill at the school until they were able to prove he didn't do it. Then he "did the honorable thing" and admitted he didn't kill it and had instead been lying about it openly and to everyone's face for a while.

The press conference just pissed me the fuck off. I know Jin and the rest were thinking ahead about how to use this faggot, but he is so lacking in selfawareness that he makes his grand statement without realizing the truth.

Chika is ugly/cute. The gap moe drives me crazy. Like I know even in 2d land she is not pretty, but her personality is so sweet and gentle that it offsets her homeliness and makes her charming.

I want to stick it in her pooper.

I tried to like it, I really did

I watched until about 1/2 way throo the the mechanic outsider and his vampire waifu come to visit arc

There's a lot of problems but I dropped it a while ago so I don't remember all of them

>characters don't feel like real characters ie - make desisions that don't make sense

>main character helping literally everyone

>younger, sniper girl is crazy strong and not allowed to really fight

>neighbor designs a shit

>i remember the outside government giving them tons of shit for basically fighting a war to stop the planet from being enslaved

>art was ok i guess

>i remember the pacing being weird

>Mikumo's whole shtick was he was supposed to be really smart but his planning and decision making ranged from retarded to sub par

>the opening not being at the beginning

I liked the trigger system, it was a cool concept

the different dimensions crossing over wasn't bad either

probably forgetting some stuff, feel free to remind me

i have a huge tolerance for shit

 No.441408

The fugitive arc was anime only and it was shit. They are back to the regularly scheduled story and it is getting pretty good, because the nerd realized he is useless and keeps causing his team to fail. One of the S rankers told him he should take responsibility and implied he needs to kill himself. Mikumo is on suicide watch.

As for Chika not being allowed to fight, basically she is a once in a century massive power source and is target #1 for any neighbor that wanders by. She doesn't fight because she gets shit scared and can't pull the trigger.

 No.441465

>>440753

He is prominent. He's the one manipulating all the events to happen. None of the pieces wouldn't fall into place if he didn't have his side effect and do a lot of background work.

 No.441567

All I have to say is fuck tournament arcs. And this one has three of them. The filler arc was alright but a bit bland.

 No.441600

Dropped the manga recently, it got bad fast.

Author is trying to do too much shit instead of just focusing on the protags and it just ends up being convoluted and confusing.
