And Chobits was infuriating.

You really believe the only class below otaku -- those who create material for otaku -- would understand anything adult?
No.434086

Agreed.
At the very least Tomoyo better force Sakura to wear some very revealing and/or embarrassing outfits and get them all on film.

Didn't Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles ruin Sakura enough? Can we at least have Shaoran admitting he wanted to be dicked by Yukito/Yue?

Naw, bro. It needs Mirror and Toya to hook up.

It says it's probably a short series type thing so it's not all bad. Don't know what they possibly could do so it might be a nice surprise.

It is going to end up being Sailor Moon Crystal all over again.
But we can still dream that little dream of a Sakura Nanoha crossover.

That wasn't what really infuriated me. For me it was Chii's monumental retardation.
How can anyone take a romance seriously where the love interest's mental capacity is at the level of an infant's?
No.435960
On the one hand, it's more Sakura, GOAT mahou shoujo.
On the other, I have little hope after the disaster that was Crystal. Although that was an anime and not the same company. But the feeling of despair remains.

Will Daala give us BD rips that aren't Coalgirls size? It's the reason I've been avoiding the series.
Also, since its Clamp, is X good? The manga is on Madokami and theres also the 2001 TV series. I remember my mother being into it.

I just started reading that. Can't say much other than I like the art so far. I'm mainly picking it up to watch the movie since it looks so good. https://sakuga.yshi.org/data/47d98cd933056767c50f33325751df20.mp4
A friend told me something about reading Tokyo Babylon first. I honestly don't know if X is stand alone or not. I do know that it seems to be on infinite hiatus.
No.436008
>>436003
I think it was put on indefinate hiatus because publishers considered it too violent for shoujo. The movie is good in terms of animation (by industry legend Rintaro) but highly compresses the story. The TV series was also directed by a famous animu director, Yoshiki Kawajiri. The movie's theme song, the seven minute long X Japan balad "Forever Love" was the campain song of the real life Koizumi from Legend of Koizumi.
Also Tokyo Babylon is it's own continuity. I might wait until someone scans or rips a digital version of the Dark Horse release since Tokyopop a shit.
No.436011
>>436008
I always found Rintaro to be hit or miss. For example, I really like Galaxy Express 999, but found Genma Taisen to be rather dull except for the Kanada dragon.
>TV series
>Kawajiri
Picked the fuck up. Thanks for the heads up. I might buy the dark horse one since I like reading manga a lot more on paper.
No.436015
>>436011
I haven't seen it but I hear Genma Taisen's weaknesses are from the story. It's actually based a manga drawn (but not written) by Shotaro Ishinomori. I heard they made an early 2000's adaption of it that reaked of early digital laziness. I happen to love his adaption of Metropolis.
The music from the TV series is pretty good too, although it looks like most of it has been taken off Youtube. The ending theme is sung by a man, if you can believe it. I wanted to try making new 10 bit rips of it (the R2's are out there) but I can't get the raw R1 DVDs to get subs and the dub.
No.436023
>>436015
It was story that brought it down for sure. The direction was pretty good, and it has one of the coolest scenes that I've ever seen in an anime. His Metropolis grew on me over time. I had seen the silent film first and wasn't sure what to make of it, but I like it a lot now. Good luck on those rips.

Holy shit man, I haven't heard that song in over a decade. I remember I used to watch that movie all the time when it aired late at night on tv. I was probably the only one of my family/friends who liked the ending song.
I don't remember shit about it now but that it was sad as hell. Thanks for reminding me of it. I will go download it.
No.436027
>>436023
His Metropolis is technically based on Osamu Tezuka's second manga, but takes from Fritz Lang as well (Tezuka never saw the movie when he made his manga, just the poster.) Rintaro had worked with Tezuka during his lifetime, but Tezuka would never let him adapt Metropolis because he was ashamed of it. (Tezuka being ashamed of his work was a common thing. To this day there are chapters of Astro Boy and Black Jack that have never been published ever again. Extremely rare limited ediitons of the first three volumes of Black Jack by Vertical translated some of these chapters.) Rintaro met Katsuhiro Otomo on a TV talkshow and they talked about what Tezuka story they would want to adapt. Rintaro is quoted as having literally waited for Tezuka to die before making the movie.

If you're on ADC there is a special remuxed R2 DVD by Kentai of Kentaiblog, back when he was a bootlegger. However, it's quite old. It's sparse on special features but you can watch Clamp paint the poster.

That's their fucking excuse now? CLAMP's biggest problem is they couldn't finish shit, dropping series right in mid-arc.
-RG Veda
-X (And no, the TV series isn't even close to the manga either)
-Angelic Layer
It's frustrating.
At least they managed to give MKR & CCS proper endings, but only because they were cribbing off their TV series' respective endings. Tokyo Babylon's ending directly ties into the X movie, so it wasn't exactly a ending so much as a sidequel.
