It's that time again. Share what you have been reading and if you like/liked it.
Subete ni Iya girl: It is kinda sweet. MC gets fascinated by a strange girl with an arrow trough her head. They become friends and the series follows standard SoL stuff. It is kind of obvious that the two main characters will end up together, and the series is seriously starting to feel padded after a while.
Jin: I really like this series. A surgeon from 2000 is sent back to the year 1862. He uses his medical knowledge to cure various diseases and preform surgery. It is interesting to see how he gets around limitations and preform operations.
Kurokami: I can't say I particularly liked what I've read of this series. MC forms a pact with a supernatural girl and gets thrown into a world of supernatural shenanigans. The main reason I started reading this was because I wanted to read a manga involving a "battle couple". A couple that loves each other and to fight, and that fights side by side when things get messy. Kurokami is not like that.

Punpun really is an amazing story. I was just thinking about it, and even without the gimmick it would still be an excellent story. The visuals and the way it is written conveys feelings and thoughts much more than if it was written normally.
The pinnacle of the manga, for me, is from chapter 99 to 140. I was seriously in tears at the end of chapter 140, once it all really hits you.

I didn't really like Shuumatsu no Tenki. I'm all for scumbag characters but he didn't have a trait that made me care what happened to him. Seemed like standard fair stuff. The reveal of the purpose of the power was lame in my opinion. You could definetly tell it was ending soon since they skipped several days to end the series. I thought the ending ended okay for what it was. Could have been worse but I expected better.
Dragon's Dogma- Progress is the blandest manga I've read in a while. Imagine a manga trying to be an epic fantasy but interject speak that only makes sense in game logic and you get this. I know what pawns are from the game but they couldn't even make me feel any emotion in a characters death. It was just there and accomplished nothing on the journey.
I'm enjoying Sousei no Onmyouji and finally caught up with it. I still don't think it's better than his previous work Bimbougami ga!
I'm regretting reading Toriko. I thought it was promising but its been getting progressively worse. This second half has just been a drag. It over-explains its "food" logic of the world to the point of absurdity. The concept of death becomes meaningless. This seems like it's ending soon since they rushed getting the rest of Acacia's full course. It'll end one of my obligation reads so I won't have to read it ever again. The guy should move the seinen genre because it would fill his new to torture his characters without having to retcon death at every moment.

Holy shit, Dragon's Dogma has a manga? I'm happy that it sounds bad.
Jesus, Re:Monster is really Gary Stu trash. At the same time, it's like reading Aiki, in that I'm just waiting to see how he's going to annihilate the next enemy, since he has every power ever.
Also been binge reading Sangokushi since a week before it finished. Why does everyone worth anything die like a bitch? Let's home Jiang Lei can actually compare to Kongming.
Ayeshah's Secret is a sleeper hit in my list right now. Chinese, so left to right, but other than that, the art is amazing. Latest, second volume made me realize how fucking cheap the backgrounds are though. Goddamn, don't look too close. But still a great read.
Also Helck. Fucking Helck man. There's no one I wouldn't recommend it to. I mentioned Gary Stu earlier, and it's basically that again, but at least this is a comedy, and he's not ENTIRELY the main focus. EVERYONE READ IT.
Nana to Kaoru is also a pretty good love story. MC loves his childhood friend who's also his neighbor bullshit, but he's got an S&M fetish. He ends up convincing her to share the fetish. It's fucking interesting, and the last few chapters made it a 10/10, despite the weird ass premise.
Other amazing things include Dorohedoro, Keijo!!!!!!, Hinomaru Zumou, and Oshikiri Rensuke's Hi Score Girl and that other manga he drew. Found out about him because a friend who's big into FGC was showing me a game, and said one of the top players is a mangaka. Pretty cool.
Shitty stuff: Ruler of the Land, Zettai Karen Children, and Denpa Kyoushi. I don't understand how they're enjoyable. At least Zettai took a while to get bad. But Ruler of the Land is just outright boring with unsufferable characters, and Denpa Kyoushi probably deserves another try, but meh.

I've picked up the Beserk manga after quite enjoying the anime. I really like it, but I can't understand the purpose of the Black Swordsman arc. It:
-Kills the surprise of Griffith's betrayal
-Esablishes magic in the universe before the plot necessitated it. It would have been cool to experience the shock of Nosferatu Zodd with Guts.
-Builds unrealist expectations if your a reader, because there's going to be a (literal) 1,000 page intermission before the demon killing starts back up.
-Introduces Guts as an unlikable cunt before we have any reason to give him the time of day
Please help me understand Miura's thought process; I doubt he was just being retarded.
No.443320
>>443319
I think it was supposed to be some kind of preview to then nips how Berserk is going to be like. Golden Age arc is just a relatively small part of Berserk compared to demon killing, so it wouldn't make sense for him to start it from there. You would get butthurt people saying "But it was medieval, not demon shit!" at the end, but with this Miura got an audience, told Guts' story and then continued with demon killing.

Again I think it's probably to attract the audience. The first thing I thought after that scene was "Fuck this is interesting, who is this guy and what's the deal with the brand? I'll keep reading.", and I really appreciated Guts after reading through Golden Age.
I know what you mean by revealing shit, but the manga wouldn't take off otherwise. Miura is one sneaky bastard and I like it.
Oda did something similar. The two one-shots of One Piece show Luffy's grandfather giving him the hat, but when One Piece finally came out it was Shanks who gave him the hat. He used the grandfather in the 2 one-shots as a decoy, so the third time the readers would see it they would get surprised and say "This is better!" because it was another pirate instead of his grandfather, and Oda would amplify the effect it had on the readers.

I've started looking at the new releases by chapter to find things that actually update regularly and I've found a few gems I haven't seen on /a/.
>Sengokou Youkou
2 demon siblings are trying to stop evil/save the world are joined by a cowardly swordsman. A mostly battle manga with some comedy and great character designs. The scope is pretty large and there are several big timeskips, but it all works. Easily the best of the 4.
>Gosu
Kid is raised in a cave by the deposed Supreme Overlord. He is taught the strongest martial arts in the world to defeat the 4 warriors that betrayed his master. When his master dies he sets out to get revenge, only to find that all of the warriors have long since died. He starts to work at a roadside inn as a dumpling delivery boy. Full color, and some beautiful scenes. Despite being a comedy it can get dark.
>Socks Goblin
A really cute fantasy manhwa about a girl that moves to a big city to work at a bank. Full color like Gosu but with a really adorable style.
>Kanojo wa Rokurokubi

Tick off green boxes for romance and slice of life, tick of red boxes for action, doujinshi, hentai, horror, yaoi and shounen. Sort results by rating and enjoy the abundance of choice. If too much for you, exclude some more genres.
Seriously now, try ReLIFE for example, even if it's low on actual romance. Or Miman Renai if some age gap drama won't scare you away. I also second Horimiya. It's difficult to give specific recommendations when it's not known what you have read already and what not yet.

I realized that I've misjudged this series. It's not a fantasy adventure about a reincarnated dude surviving in a new world like I thought. It's a self masturbatory wish fulfillment fic. The MC isn't just compitent, he's an infallible handsome OP gary Stu who can do no wrong and never faces any sort of trauma or challenge.
It's not horrible, it's just really boring. It's like the MC went from being super under powered to super OP in one book. Less, really. He's not faced a problem yet that he cannot easily solve.
It was interesting to read when he was a goblin, and still interesting when he was a hobgoblin, but past that it's pretty boring.
I'm not completely against having a cast of OP characters. I love Overlord for example. This just simply isn't written as well and doesn't have the charm. It reads like a freeform RP character journal.
I'll give it to the end of Vol 2 and then decide if I want to keep reading.

There are a few at the moment which are slightly similar to it, Re:Monster does turn into a harem though. It gets pretty strung out till it becomes a bit uninteresting.
Others that are similar in concept to it however include;
Tales of Demon Gods
Gunota ga Mahou Sekai ni Tensei Shitara
Both include resurrection in an almost video game world, with a harem, with a competent main character.

If you've read the first 5 chapters, then you've basically read the entirety of the manga released so far. This is not an exaggeration.
The plot goes nowhere. The setting is paperthin and explained in the first 2 chapters. The constant sea-battles are dogshit. The dialogue is hehman.
As I read more and more of it, I gradually began to realize that the mangaka had only a basic concept of cute shipgirls in mind when they started, and nothing else. 70 chapters later, they still have nothing else.

It felt like they were trying to pull the ole bait and switch by reversing the roles of the two by the end, but either the author didn't have the skill necessary to do it satisfactorily, or the rushed axed ending fucked it all up.
