The bd came out recently and are already available with english subs. How are you guys not talking about it?

I think it was a fantastic movie, the story flows really well and the visuals are simply amazing. I understand some autists can get mad about they not realizing the 3 years gap difference, anyone would have realized checking a fucking calendar but I think that's the least of its problem considering how good everything else is.

Somehow I fucked up the title, kill me

>Kimi no na wan

Same movie but everyone is replaced with dogs.

Not everyone, only one side of the body switching. The other is still human.

I watched this on a plane across the Atlantic about a month ago and really enjoyed it.

I got too drunk to remember how it ended though. Thanks for reminding me OP!

It was boring. I only cried for the entire second half of it.

I loved this movie. I drove almost 2 hours to watch a subbed version in theaters when it aired here in the states a few months ago.

Also want to add that I had to hold back from crying like a little bitch.

It was really good, just not 100 gorillion dollars good.

And I have already watched a not so terrible web rip without watermarks 3 months ago, and I don't feel like re-watching it.

File: b035c5e07b82cd6⋯.jpg (108.94 KB, 720x960, 3:4, he screams but she cannot ….jpg)

I enjoyed it well enough, stellar art/animation quality and the story/characters were very nice.

No idea why some people got so emotional over it though. Saw a subbed screening of it at an indie theater and some lady in the seats ahead of me was practically sobbing by the end.

>Why no one is talking about it?!?!

Because when it first came out we already discussed it.

Thanks for the heads up that the bluray is out. I have been waiting for it. I saw it originally at the theatre when it came out and loved it. Have to give it a rewatch to decide if it's Shinkai's best movie or not, but I think it might be.

And a happy ending for once. Makoto doesn't usually do happy endings.

I missed Tenmon and his piano works, his tunes tend to be very memorable while this guy from Radwimps is quite forgettable. I tried remembering any of the songs and the only ones where he was singing, none of the music used in the background.

Saw this with a friend at the theater not too long ago. Visuals were very nice, and the story was good enough to keep me interested. Some of the scenes at the beginning were a bit odd to watch in a theater with other people. Thank God there were only about 10 other people in there.

Almost ruined by the 'we fucking forget everything' ending but it its still good.

Odd question but I'm inclined to say yes. Mitsuha along with Taki wake up crying sometimes, realising they forgot something important. They'd be in their early 20s and probably wouldn't be interested in anyone else while that red cord tugs at their heart trying to make them remember.

I think so. They both were obviously pretty bothered by the something missing in their lives and I think it would have basically kept them from having any series romantic relationships because it would probably feel wrong. This wasn't the person they were looking for.

>some lady in the seats ahead of me was practically sobbing by the end.

That's just something women do, pay no attention.

I really enjoyed this movie as well and I can't say anything negative about it.

It is okay, sake can taste different depending on how it is prepared

I thought it was good. It had a sweet taste, it didn't taste like a chemical fire like most spirits and it didn't taste like piss like beer.

Probably going to watch it for the first time tonight, getting this torrent https://nyaa.pantsu.cat/view/962304 and ffmpeg-ing the video and non-english song audio track together. How are the subs from the BD release?

Watched it with a friend today. Incredibly animated with an excellent soundtrack. The my favorite of the movie for me had to be the creative guitar bits. I'm a sucker for effective kill-switch implementation. The shots of the doors opening at the base really clicked with me as well. I love abstract bits of animation like this

Thanks for the blog dude.

No reason to be a faggot anon.

>The bd came out recently and are already available with english subs. How are you guys not talking about it?

Because a company made of cancer licensed it and sat on it for a year. In fact, this may be the longest gap between theatre and home video for a movie in about 20 years.

We have at least one generation alive that has lived to see all movies released in theatres eventually coming to home video, and a lot of that is from how miserable of an experience the movie theatre is.

Just finished this, it was pretty good; well animated, plot kept me hooked, chaacters were reasonably well-developed and believeable. Occasionally I cry a bit when watching anime, but that didn't happen here, though it was pretty impactful and with a satisfying resolution. Although now I do feel more empty inside than usual. I guess I can see how this made so much fucking money, people are suckers for love stories - and this was a pretty decent love story. Personally, I don't think it compares to, say, Ghibli, or other classic anime films. 7.5/10 bretty good.

>it didn't taste like a chemical fire

You should stop drinking fireball.

That's not sake

your doing gods work anon

>Is sake any good?

Personally, it is without a doubt my favorite drink. This coming from someone who is somewhat enamored with fine booze (Although I suppose being a weeb faggot probably adds some bias.).

The trick is getting the stuff that's actually made in Japan, which can be quite difficult in North America. As anons mentioned, there are many different types of sake and in my personal experience all you usually find over here is bottom of the barrel Gekkeikan made in USA shit or really high-end expensive stuff; Not good if you're looking to try it out/would like to get drunk off it, respectively.

Once I found a store that imported Hakutsuru sake in 720ml bottles for the same price as Gekkeikan, for a few months. Those were some damn good times, while they lasted.

They are good, didn't have any issues with them.

I downloaded this and the subs won't show up in Media Player Classic for me. I tried every different selectable sub option in the menu and nothing shows up. Usually when I DL an anime with encoded subs it works fine, but for some reason it's not displaying them properly when I have these options. What's up?

Don't you have the subs through DirectVobSub? If you have so just check the green arrow in your taskbar while the file is playing not in the MPC.

Delete MPC-HC and install mpv like you live in this decade.

The story and characters were ok. Definitely not good, but serviceable at the very least. The story telling felt rushed. I think the early body swapping parts went by too quickly to establish the growing care they had for each other. Because of this lack of attachment I had for the characters, it made the rest of the film feel un-involved. I didn't care all that much for MC-kun and MC-chan. The visuals were great. I'm not much of a sound person, but there was nothing wrong with the sounds or with the music. Didn't care for the main theme though.

To compare it to his previous works: Garden of Words looked better and 5cm/s had a better story.

Oh ya, I absolutely loved when they're writing each other's name on their palms and as the girl is writing hers, she just vanishes. That was a very well done moment.

5centimeters By Second is probably the most depressing movie I've ever seen and I don't want to feel like that again.

So how would I go about watching this in 4K?

Agree on most of these points. As the other anon said, I really miss Tenmon's soundtracks. Is there just something about this movie that I'm missing? I just don't understand at all why everyone raves about it.

File: 9296ff772ecd21b⋯.webm (4.78 MB, 680x453, 680:453, 5cms song.webm)

Just rewatched it. It was still great. To summarise my thoughts, I would say that it is 5cm/s but given a narrative structure and a happy ending. Kimi no Na Wa is a movie that has universal appeal, kinda like Disney or Ghibli, compared to Shinkai's other movies. This is not an insult against the movie. 5cm/s is a beautiful work of art that I love, but its easy to see how it goes over most audience's heads. It's short, not a lot happens and the middle is only loosely tied to the 'real' main story. Kimi no Na Wa is twice its length but doesn't feel it. The pacing is fast and we are introduced and propelled along both characters' stories until they stop swapping. It slows right down here to match the slump of the protagonist at his lowest point and then picks right back up again for the final dash to the ending. I was impressed at how I found myself invested in their struggle even on a 2nd viewing. The same story problem of Taki not knowing the name of Mitsuha's town or about the comet is still there from when I first saw the movie, but it is resolved very quickly so I don't mind it so much. Also, body swapping, time travelling, forgetful magic so you know it can be overlooked. I think the lighthearted tone of the first half of the movie which is abruptly ceased gives the weight to the second half. I really think this is his best movie. Its not the emotional suckerpunch that was 5cm/s but is definitely a more cohesive story and adventure. Its easy to see why it did so well.

I will say that the main song of 5cm/s felt like it would have fitted perfectly with this movie and I found myself yearning for it over the theme in this movie. Also, seeing it on the big screen will be a treasured memory because it very much improved the experience.

It was a good movie but definitely overrated by a lot of people.

Can someone explain this to me?

>Can someone explain this to me?

That the people of that bloodline have been doing body swapping shenanigans for a long time? And I guess that it was divine fate or somesuch that there body swapping was able to save the town and their power.

I finished watching that movie around 1AM, and I immediately went outside and walked for several hours as I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep while in such a sad state of mind. Prepare yourself now.

I was thinking of 5cm/sec the whole time I watched Your Name expecting to be left with the same crushing feeling.

but how did this past body swapping affect this at all? they don't even remember it, so it didn't have any tangible effects

Well the continued passing down of the body swapping ability through the bloodline and the preservation of the traditions (making the sake with their spit) were necessary to save the town. The past body swapping itself wasn't directly linked to the the present actions, but the survival of those traditions did play an integral part. The line in question is about mystical magic nonsense and Mitsuha musing about fate. I think you are overthinking it.

Havent watched it yet, so I downloaded it, using the torrent: [Mites] Kimi no Na wa - Your Name [BD] [1080p, 60fps, H265, AAC].mkv (Version 2)

Even downloading the updated version in AniDex, that says that the sound problems were fixed, have the sound cut out in parts in the beginning. Is that normal, like its part of the movie, or its just that the torrent have still the audio fucked?

>The JAV parody is longer than the film itself

What a time to be alive.

it cuts out in the sense there is hard cuts, but not randomly mid sentence for no reason

Could you explain better?

That doesn't sound normal at all anon.

Welp. I'd gone for the "Version 2" download as well, and I was about 5 minutes away from watching it. Looks like I'll be waiting for the 25gb one to download....thanks for the heads up, Anons. I have high expectations for this.

There was way too much "IT'S MAGIC I AIN'T GOTTA EXPLAIN SHIT" for my taste. Garden of Words was prettier. Summer Wars was more fun. The concept has been done to death and this smells like a stealthy isekai cash grab.

breddy gud/10

Was the original meteor their god? Was the second meteor another god? Are they gonna have hot rock-god sex and bring about the third impact?

It's probably just a retard sobbing at romance films because they know all of their relationships have been superficial.

Is fireball bad?

I was tempted to buy some, thinking whiskey warming you with a cinnamon taste sounded great.

It's a shame whiskey and other alcohol is so expensive, nothing worse than buying a bottle of something new, not liking it and being 20 quid down with a drink you dislike. I should probably just stick with absinthe.

/a/ - alcoholics.

I personally preferred 5cm per second, it was more realistic. I don't mind body swapping but the "we need to save everyone from a meteorite" kinda bothered me and came off as action rather than a focus on romance.

How is the other film? I can't remember the name, garden something.

Like this guy said >>716806

Also there is that part where it contained anti-freeze so that had to recall it.

Fireball is too sweet/sugary and you're paying extra for the name. Basically meme whiskey.

I once got some off-brand imitation stuff that tasted much better and was quite a bit cheaper, but I've sadly forgotten the name.

It's a shame this came out after 5cm per second.

Imagine if you had everyone flocking to it after all this success, then the ending happens after they expect this one all over.

File: 4a4e6f10bcd476c⋯.jpg (125.45 KB, 1000x1416, 125:177, garden of words.jpg)

>I was tempted to buy some, thinking whiskey warming you with a cinnamon taste sounded great.

It isn't, trust me. It tastes like someone dropped a ton of cheap cinnamon gum in your drink. Spend your money on more absinthe or try another brand of whiskey.

>How is the other film? I can't remember the name, garden something

It was okay. The story is pretty similar to his other stuff. I would also recommend watching the BD release if you can. If you are into feet you'll get an extra kick out of it.

I couldn't take it seriously because of all the NTR. How do you go from a 13 year old crossing the country to see a girl and the girl waiting for five hours after he was supposed to arrive to Takaki turning into a betamax that won't even try to contact Akari, and worse, ruins future relationships with his pining for a girl he refuses to get some kind of closure from.

Penderyn whiskey it is.

Anyone buy any Japanese whiskey? How was it?

I'm not into feet, I knew it had fetish material but hoped it had more to it and it wasn't too obnoxious. What other films had good scenery porn? So far I think 5cm > KnNW and I'm hoping for something better than 5cm. Honestly I'm not generally a fan of romance, they are always cliche and unrealistic.

>Anyone buy any Japanese whiskey? How was it?

It tastes slightly different from regular whiskey, I wouldn't recommend buying it unless you are prepared to spend a bit more though

>they are always cliche and unrealistic.

I'd like romances a hell of a lot less if they weren't unrealistic.

I liked it very much.

The movie used some deep mythological elements and archetypes like

>the hero goes into the underworld to save the princess(they literally call the shrine thing underworld)

>One has to leave part of oneself in the underworld in order to return from it (spit sake/memories...)

>They confront the dragon(meteor) by commiting necessary crimes(explosions) and don't only save themselves but also the townfolk

The whole thing is littered with symbolism like pic related where they gaze into infinity

also whats better, short hair or long hair mitsuha?

I hate Jordan Peterson so much.

Fuck this shit, I'm glad Japanese know about Jung and mangle his stuff instead of following Peterson.

Yeah, I hate romance movies, they just leave me feeling sad and longing for what I once had but probably never will again.

Watching romance movies without currently being in a romantic relationship or without the possibility of being in one in the near future is like tearing open a wound and jamming a needle repeatedly into it.

It isn't a pleasant experience.
