Has an Idol caught your interest? Interested in Wotagei? Like catchy tunes?

Let's share and discuss idols past, present and future, 2D, 3D, or anything inbetween. By default, this includes any anime song, denpa, utaite, Vocaloid plus other synthesized voice music, Touhou/doujin circles, or even Enka and "boy bands". Talk about Idol fans and idol culture such as wotagei is encouraged, which is what lives are all about, anyway.

Feel free to just talk about idols in general, share stories, wage your holy wars on non-believers, or shit on AKB48whatever idols you don't like. Also, you can just post a song you like.

Tokyo Idol Festival 2018 happened recently, which is like Comiket for idol fans, so I feel like this is the perfect time to start up this thread. Did you see any unit worth watching? As for what I saw, iRis was great as always and I became a fan of NEO JAPONISM, CYNHN, and 26時のマスカレイド.

I know there's not a whole lot of us, but hopefully this thread will garner more interest in the subject while giving us a place to post our passions. I sincerely believe that there's at least one idol out there for everyone, so hopefully we can give someone an idol to love.

Remember to practice your wotagei.

I'm drunk right now due to r/a/dio, so here's this for now. He explains most of it, but this is the explaination and history of that thing people do in concerts where they go TIGER FIRE CYBER FIBER DIVER VIBER JAA JAA. It's called MIX.

I'm not really an expert on 3D idols but I love Momoko Kikuchi's music. There's an ethereal, nostalgic feeling to it.

Are there "periods" of idol music? I can't really put it into words but idol groups in the past seem to have a different energy and feel to modern-day groups.

Great taste. I hadn't known about before now, but I'm now a fan. She reminds me of a somehow softer Kudo Shizuka.

It looks like around the time Shizuka came around, Momoko made a band, RA MU, and then left singing shortly afterwards, so I guess Shizuka could be like her spiritual successor.

I'd say so, yes. How I like to see it is in three ages, and we're in the third.

First was the Golden Age, lasting from 70's through 80's and into early 90's. Then the economic bubble crashed Japan and the industry changed big time. Idols were no longer given the freedom to have fun with their image and all of Japan was really on edge. During this time the modern giant Morning Musume happened, and they were good, having their own variety show and a revolving door of members. Also during this time, Momoi Haruko started something new by doing independent live shows in Akihabara on street corners, creating the Akiba Idol. The industry would later use this phenomenon to create the modern giant AKB48.

Anyway, this was the dark age that had those few bright lights and it lasted until 2010, which became known as the beginning of the Idol Sengoku Jidai. AKB and MoMusu were already huge monsters at this point but that's when the first Tokyo Idol Festival happened, where younger units could perform, including the Underground scene, which is a whole other story. This is the start of the modern era where Underground idols, young idols, and giants all compete for the passion of their fans, who wear their happi and learn their wotagei to support the idols they love.

So, it's Golden Era -> Dark Era -> Sengoku Era. That's not to say Dark Era didn't have it's own great stuff. Denpa started there.

And with Kamen Joshi coming out of the Underground out of nowhere to steal first place in Oricon from the giants in 2012 like Oda Nobunaga, a new era might be on it's way.

MONSTER GIRLFRIEND debuted on 7/28 and released this MV for their first single just a week ago.

All members of the unit work at the KAIJU MUSUME 6 restaurant in Roppongi and has been DJs, models, or singers.

They are associated with 2.5D Productions, who also manages DAOKO.

The one with the short red hair is my favorite.

As far as I can tell, this is them performing the song before they decided to debut.

NEO JAPONISM just now released this MV for Carry ON. This is the first MV they've ever done.

>It's shit.

Fucking hell. This is what happens when your unit is underground with no budget.

This is NEO JAPONISM. They debuted sometime early this year and has consistently put on performances ever since. An Underground unit, they aim to have music that "you can enjoy even when you dance", whatever that means. They also plan their choreography to be easy to imitate.

And their lives are weird compared to other idols. I don't know how to explain it but they feel really unorthodox up there, sometimes screaming their lyrics (Blue girl does this mostly. She's my favorite because she always seems so passionate).

This is an unit you can watch evolve from their first live to their most recent, all on Youtube because someone was kind enough to record them all like this. Hopefully they don't start taking them down, but they already took down their Tokyo Idol Festival performance, which was on a rooftop overlooking a part of the city from what I remember.

For everyone wanting to do their cardio while learning their wotagei.

The song at the end is Romantic Ukare Mode by Miki Fujimoto. It's an important song for wotagei that is still done in earnest to this day.

>This live has a unique mood to it.

Right? They are super weird and it's hard to explain why. Their TIF performance was great and I'm sad to know it'll never be seen again.

Their tagline "NEO SOUND, NEO CULTURE" makes sense, as cryptic as it is. I just want to understand what this new sound and culture they're aiming for is. Their progress from unknown to where they are now is super amazing and fast. I'll be watching them intently.

>That moment she clasps hands with that wota being carried by his fellow Tigers at 3:40.

Stuff like this is what turned me on to them in the first place.

The latest NEO JAPONISM live was insane.

>That high energy right at the start

>That guy wearing a shirt saying "You are (Not) Alone" at 0:20

>The shirts with NEO JAPONISM written down the back.

>That guy to the right at 8:40 who doesn't know what the hell.

>That moment at 11:00 where the wota get ready and a guy goes flying through the empty circle right when the chant starts up

>Producer-san peeking out at 12:16

>Yuu-chan waving all cute on the left at 17:40

>The girls choking on stage shortly after, not knowing what to say, and Yuu-chan saves them.

>Producer-san even stands in the doorway wondering what's going on.

>The crowd doesn't give any fucks and are just happy to see their idols, still jumping around with energy despite the apparent heat.

>The sheer intensity of love for 夢際のパラレル when it starts up at 22:49

>The girls giving it their all during the song in return.

>The super slow and passionate MIX at 25:35

>Everything the Tigers do at 30:05

>How much the idols pump everyone up at the following chorus.

>It's hot so we get to see their cute outfits underneath the weird cape tops they are always wearing

>Everyone's outfit is a little different, something I hadn't ever really noticed before save for the colors. Yuu-chan's skirt is long compared to the others and each skirt has a different pattern, for example.

>How they start the song at 32:44.

>The wota circle at 35:20 complete with inflatable raft because why not

>The distribution of UO sticks at 36:40

>Of course, they play Janken with the crowd during ジャンピンポ!!!!! and the sheer excitement from the crowd all during the song.

>Man has sign front and center for the idols and wota carry a man on a chair at 39:30 (Seriously, these lives are getting crazy and NEO JAPONISM just started this year.)

>They almost drop chair man on his ass at 40:00 after everyone's done cheering for him

>Good men had their UO ready for 43:18

>Man being carried standing UPRIGHT at 43:26

>Yuu-chan's shouting and those three men at 46:40

>UO man going fucking wild when he gets carried after 47:26, his comrades supporting his back as he goes at it.

>Pink hair man loses it at 53:45 and 53:52

>Everyone has UO at 54:10

>Everything during ノスタルジアオレンジ

>The call for an encore you knew was coming at 1:00:08

>How autistic the call gets starting at 1:00:58

>The 3DPD being weirded out at 1:01:42 because she can't into manly passion

>Those two friends together at 1:05:28, exhausted but still going

>Everyone leaning on each other at 1:07:10 and 1:08:33, exhausted but still going

>Man bringing out his inner idol at 1:08:56, 3DPD doesn't fucking get it.

>Mirei(Pink) shows her shy side at 1:12:35

>The crowd goes wild when Yuu-chan gives her bluntly casual "Uh, domo" at 1:13:42 in that weird voice of hers, and she says "URUSAI URUSAI, hai hai, okay, okay" when they won't shut up.

Is this the power of the chika idol?

Good stuff. I didn't even mention how great the girls are up there. Each performs with their own personality. It's beautiful.

If you go back and watch their first lives back in February of this year, the progression into this intensity is amazing. Back then everyone was just stiffly watching the show doing little movements trying to feel out the idols and their show.

Yuu-chan's new hair style is weird Sasuga NEO JAPONISM, what the fuck, but she's still my favorite. She's always really passionate up there with her unique voice and poses.

This unit is always surprising the hell out of me. I can't wait until someone puts their album online for us.

I've recently been fascinated with Million Live. I used to think it wasn't worthy of my attention compared to the main series, but now that I've looked closer at it the girls are really cute and there's some fantastic music.

I enjoyed the old console games quite a bit, they were a good mix of raising sims and rhythm games. I don't play the new games as they're all phone games, but the rhythm part at least seems good still. What I enjoy is the range of personalities the cast has, and the way the music written for them suits their image and character.

Large variety of music + cute girls is it really. Most of the 765 games are a cozy light-hearted mix of mini-games and dialogue segments. It's also a smaller cast with well-written characters so it's really easy to get attached.

The original Cinderella and Million games were just spreadsheet simulators for browsers, but the phone versions are rhythm games and are really fun. The Million phone game is about a year old, and the Cinderella one is three years old and still getting a constant stream of new songs which get audio releases a few months later.

There's also Side-M if you're into that.

I see so many comments on Japanese Youtube videos shitting on AKB48. It's kind of amazing.

When I saw Team 8 live, they were the weakest idols in the set. We tried to fire people up with our chants and such, but the crowd was just lukewarm at best.

Watching this video by chance, at first it was just really boring, but then it seemed like it was softly caressing my brain into a semi-conscious state. It's almost like garbage sit-coms you watch to forget about anything. That's all I can get from them.

Also, watching it again it looks like the girls are going to either get to be center or fucking die based on playing janken. Are there any AKB48 fags who can tell me what the hell is going on and why is Janken so intense?

File: 938d193ad9cf7a2⋯.webm (15.85 MB, 854x480, 427:240, The Charmy Show.webm)

I'm laughing so hard right now. This is an actual song someone made about Charmy, which someone used to make this video for her. Everything, from the very first thing you see in this video is hilarious.

If you don't know anything of the old Morning Musume girls or Ishikawa Rika, consider this an introduction to her. She's one of my favorite idols. She's kind of like Cirno in that she's the self-proclaimed cutest and best member of MoMusu and it turns her into the best baka. Everything she does is tongue-in-cheek, and it all makes her a great performer.

The show is Hello Morning, and was a great Variety Show by and for the Morning Musume girls back in their golden era. So very few episodes are left subbed online. Most have gotten pulled due to copyright.

Idols are more than the music. More idols need to do stuff like this show so we can get invested and learn about them. It's almost the only way big groups can capture me.

I hadn't heard of her before, this is really charming.

File: e6a91f15f36e778⋯.mp4 (5.53 MB, 360x240, 3:2, Yossy copying Ayaya's Love….mp4)

She's not even the best MoMusu. That'd be Yoshizawa Hitomi, best friend of Charmy Ishikawa who joined the group at the same time as her.

They are still together in their own unit, Hangry and Angry, but I wish they would have stuck to doing more ABCHO instead.

In any case, they are seemingly always together and were the best two from MoMusu's golden age in my opinion.

Here's the song Yosshi is imitating, for comparison.

File: 2b2f55ec7f99a0d⋯.webm (15.49 MB, 852x480, 71:40, Joshi Kashimashi Monogata….webm)

Morning Musume was a strange idol unit when it showed up in the late 90s and into their 2000s golden age. Girls would leave, remain, and join the unit, creating a legacy and story behind everything that otaku could really sink their teeth into.

Sometime around 2000 their golden age started and were on top of the world. I was really charmed by them and will never forget the personalities I could watch develop through their Hello Morning Variety Show. My favorites were Yosshi and Rika like I said, but they were all good. The golden age was known to be full of unique personalities and each of them charmed me. This Morning Musume taught me what idols were all about.

This is Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari, which takes place right in the middle of the golden age. It's a song that briefly introduces each of the idols, though unfortunately it doesn't have Nakazawa Yuko, the eldest among them who started with the original girls and leader of the golden age.

The video was shot inside a real moving train. You could say the MoMusu girls love their station.

To this day I'm kicking myself for not attending the Morning Musume Los Angeles concert in 2009. I simply wasn't an idolfag yet, and knowing that I passed it up to do normalfag shit I don't even remember sucks.

Man, you had 5 whole years until the golden age closed for good. you wouldn't have been able to see Yosshi, Charmy, Kaori, the Mini Moni girls, or any of those but Takahashi Ai, a mainstay of the Golden Age, would have been in full Leader mode. Sayumi, Reina, and Eri would have been there, too, of course.

Sayumi was the last person to leave who closed out their Golden Years. Maybe I should call that period from 2007 when Yosshi left to 2014 when Sayumi left their Silver Age. But Sayumi was the one link they had back to their Golden Years. She was with the unit the longest and the unit made a definite change when she left. I always call her leaving the end of the MoMusu I cared about.

Yosshi said once that this was her favorite song, if only because she had a blast making this video for it. She got to mess around singing and dancing with her best friend, and that pure fun really translates on film. Watching this video always cheers me right up.

Oh god. It's happening. They're all leaving.

I'm glad Tachibana Anna hasn't announced anything yet. I couldn't take it if she left, but the fucking leader is leaving along with several core Kamen Joshi girls.

I should have listened. When Mori left it was just the beginning.

The original core girls who made Kamen Joshi what it is will be leaving by the end of the year. Now the next generation will try to fill the shows those titans left, but I don't know if I can continue watching them after this. Not without Anna. She shone more than any dozens of girls on that stage, and the eternal leader is stepping down after her.

Let me break it down for you. First there was the core members building up from nothing on the streets of Akiba. This was the original Alice Juban. Then Steam Girls showed up as the "rival", then Armor Girls, and then all three of them combined forces to make Kamen Joshi. Alice Juban was like the "center" unit among them. To be at the top in the company meant to be in Alice Juban.

Around the time they made #1 on Oricon with Genkidane (The first time an underground idol ever made #1 in history) there was mass unrelated graduations, leaving Alice Juban with only 5 members left. This was the time I got into them. The girls were Sakura Nodoka (The leader of the unit since the very beginning and also the leader for the super unit, Kamen Joshi), Tachibana Anna (red mask, who shined the most and was the center since the beginning. Also, the center for the super unit, Kamen Joshi. She's my favorite), Kawamura Nanaka (Who does a lot of the rapping and recently actually became an MMA fighter), Sakura Yuki (The other rapper), and Mori Kanon. Out of these, only Sakura Nodoka, Tachibana Anna, and Mori Kanon were of the original girls who started it all from nothing. Getting into them at this time was perfect, because it was only 5 and they became the core 5 of all of Kamen Joshi. It felt very intimate and they all had to do the work of everyone who left as well. They performed every day and it was really touching.

At the start of this year, Mori Kanon announced graduation around the same time as a girl from Steam Girls was crushed under a billboard and lost the use of her legs. In July she graduated. Now, Sakura Nodoka (the leader) and Tachibana Anna (the center) are both graduating, leaving no original girls left.

They are real idols who started from nothing and I don't know how any of the new girls could possibly fill the masks they leave behind.

At least Nanaka and Sakura Yuki are staying so far.

And there's still the Steam Girls and Armor Girls girls if you're into them, but Alice Juban was always my favorite unit and Anna was always my favorite girl. This is a huge hit for me and a huge hit for Kamen Joshi.

I guess I should stop filling the Zombieland thread with idol stuff. I want to talk about idols. Is the anon just getting into Showa stuff lurking this thread? Did you look into Onyanko Club stuff yet?

I'm catching up on the stuff earlier in this thread. As for Onyanko Club, the lyrics on that song you linked in the Zombieland Saga thread caught me off guard, I was surprised that idols would sing it. Though looking into Onyanko Club a little more it seems like the guy behind AKB48 was involved in it, producing and writing some songs for them. I guess that makes sense.

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play.

You should see the AKB48 remake of that song. It's an existential nightmare. Onyanko Club got away with it because they have that innocent charm to them and they're all young enough, bringing out the charm of the song with a slightly ecchi tinge.

AKB doing it is a bunch of sluts pretending to be innocent, completely ruining the effect of the song. Watching this makes me feel dirty when the original was moe. Somehow Onyanko Club made such a song cute, which shows the power of those idols, who went on to become the stars of of the Showa idol boom after Onyanko Club disbanded. Goes to show that you don't need to last forever to have an impact (talking to you, MoMusu). The video I linked in that thread was their goodbye concert and final song before they disbanded, which is why they were all crying. It's a beautiful video, unlike embed related.

In any case, like I said before, Onyanko Club is probably the most influential idol unit in history and Sailor Fuku wo Nugasanaide is like their signature song. Every big unit has covered it, including Morning Musume.

They got me. I've been neglecting getting into BaBe for a long time, but these girls are up there with WINK. They kept releasing hit after hit and I love their energy. WINK would be like their spiritual sequel as far as idol duos go. I wish this was still a thing nowadays, but it's always large idol units in the current era.

Are virtual idols to be considered legit? It's like you are cheering on a fake character, with a fake appearance and maybe even a fake voice. Like some cardboard cutout.

Sure, why wouldn't they be? There are people in the industry who started out as an utaite, and it's where doujin circles look for new talent. Many actual idols even sometimes cover vocaloid songs.

If you ever want to fall in love with Rumi Shishido, here's a one way ticket.

If you don't remember, this is the girl who was booted out of the industry by Sony when she ended her contract with them. This is during the period of time when she was known as the "Phantom Idol", and it's fittingly low budget and intimate with fans. She became the first ever independant Denpa Idol with the album featured mostly in this video, 「Set Me Free」. This album also helped her break small back into the industry with the lead role in Gokinjo Monogatari (which just happens to be a good anime, by the way). She would later be Onpu in DoReMi and Pururin in Welcome to the NHK.

During 「1990 All the Young Nerds」, she is singing seriously to the crowd who supported her during her darkest times and breaks into treats.

Also, reminder that she wouldn't appear on Television for a decade after she was kicked out. Her otaku stuck with her and she gained a real appreciation for them I feel carries over in her performances. She's one of the most genuine idols out there, fitting with how Sony kicked her out of business because she didn't like them trying to control her image. She was always seen as the weird idol back then and was known as "The first Techno Idol" because of the strange atmosphere of her songs. Her image is unique and pretty denpa, but she's just being herself.

Here's the translated lyrics from the Denpa thread, and a page from a techno magazine, I think. YMO is mentioned.

Every time I post something in this thread, I think, "Yeah, this'll be my last post here. I'll finally let this thread where I talk to myself fall off the board."

But then I always feel very passionate about sharing more even though I'm sure nobody cares enough to read.

The first half of Tachibana Anna's graduation message was really touching. On Twitter, she mentioned she's still working on the second half but can't bring herself to finish it right now due to how she feels. Here's the tweet.

And I'll translate a bit of her graduation message for, oh, I don't know, some curious lurker. I also just don't want to wait around for Yestiger to get around to it and I really like what she wrote.

>最後の”follow me!!!”

<The last "follow me!!!"

<The opening Sound Effect I first did at the Saitama Super Arena's One man live!

(TL note it was amazing if you haven't seen their Saitama Super Arena performance.)

<When I first heard the completion of the opening Sound Effect,

<Goosebumps, I will never forget it.

<Absolutely everyone got goosebumps from the opening!

<Because of this, I remembered the enormous energy I had!

<When we raise our weapons and run.

<Do it, do it!!!

<Just follow me!!!

<You can be invincible!

>follow meのこのPVはわたしにとって

<The "follow me" PV is a lifetime treasure for me.

<And so first song up for my last Kamen Joshi performance is "Wohhhh!!!!☆".

<Because it's the first song by Kamen Joshi☺️!

<It's such a good song that I cried!!!

<But I got steadily more upbeat with the up-tempo songs from here on,

<It'd be too much if I wrote everything about every song one by one,

<So, moving on!!!w

<Everyone, so, my favorite songs flowed on and the last of the 8 Kamen Joshi songs was chosen to be ペルソニア〜仮面大陸〜 (Personia ~MaskLand~)

(TN note: Great song but you can't find it online. I have a hard copy of the single but can't upload it anywhere right now.)

<My impression the first time hearing it..

<The intro's soft sound...

<I always loved it. Somewhere the beginning's painful start shoots straight into a dream.

<How many times did this song encourage me when I got lost to my dreams?

<I'll Ganbaru until my dreams come true!

<To be encouraged by the song I normally perform is a really happy thing!!!

<I wonder if I can reach Personia☺️.

(TN note: The name of the MaskLand in the song. The song is about looking forward to the future that our dreams build as far as I can tell. In the beginning of the song, Anna points to the sky talking about running forward into a far off unknown country, and the rest of the girls crowd behind her looking up. It's a very striking image and still gives me goosebumps. I'll post a few performances for the rare lurker who finds himself here reading my autism.)

<I'll always love this song.

<And just like the lyrics of the song, I'll also go forward.

<Push strongly forward on your chosen path without regret!

<This song was my last single.

<On this song's very important Kamen Joshi stage, we closed the curtain.

As a side note, this is the first time I've ever seen Anna visibly distraught on stage. Usually she's always beaming with high energy but in all the pictures from this live, it looks like she's smiling through tears. Every single one.

Why did she graduate?

She's 26 and had been a chika idol performing nearly every day for over 7 years. Maybe she just felt like it was time to leave. there's no real reason stated, the same with all the other Alice Juban veterans who chose to leave around this time. Anna is the one that hurts the most, though. I don't know how I can see Kamen Joshi or Alice Juban without her and I know a lot of people feel the same way. Even the leader of the unit is leaving.

Here's a Personia live. I have one more coming up that's just the girls dancing with some cool visuals. It's not a PV or anything, it's another live, but it might have been a debut or something because the crowd doesn't do any wotagei.

I prefer it when there is wotagei, though, because I like to know what the fans do and how they add to the performance. For example, here during the chorus when the lyrics say 走り続け "Keep running (toward that unknown country)" the Wota do that intense

Anyway, here's the first video.

My PC fucked up somehow, so here's the Youtube link.

I think this was at a new just opened venue in Akiba that features the cool backdrop, so KJ was invited on with their new single, which is probably why there's no wotagei or anything either.

This single was their first one since the legendary Genkidane and it also reached #1 I believe.

Also, note how 4:00 in this video, the crowd parts and makes way for people who support each girl when they have their solo. When the girl is finished, they move back and let the others go forward. It's this kind of respect for fellow wota that warms my heart.

tokyosportsmovie was saying on Twitter he had to stop working on it for a while due to crying while putting this one together.

Underground Idols (or Chika Idols (Yes, I think Chika from Love Live is named after this)) don't get promoted or show up on TV or anything so the way they reach out to fans is only through live performances. This is why Underground Idols are rising so much right now, because they are always out there polishing their skills constantly while mainstream idols go through their spartan shit.

This phenomenon is called Live Idol, which is a type of Chika Idol.

Japan Forward made a good article. It's the english version of Sanken Shinbun, one of the most popular newspapers in Japan.

Hey, I'm embarrassed (My heart is)

Hey, I'm so happy (pounding)

Because you said

(Yes) You bring me home

(Yes) You're a bigger coward than me (Ah)

(Stop) Until the time comes

(Stop) We circle detours over and over

(Stop) You won't even kiss me

I don't care if I get scolded

I decided that I would stick by you

But if it's too sudden (I'm scared)

Ah, I'm crying (This is)

Yes, because I'm happy (thrill, isn't it?)

My feelings...

(I love you, I love you forever)

Hey, I'm embarrassed (My heart)

Hey, I'm nodding (is pounding)

Because you said

"Let's drink morning coffee together"

(Non) "I'll protect you" and

(Non) "I depend on you"

(Non) Do you really mean it for real? (Ah)

(Love) As long as you have courage

(Love) It's okay if you take me away

(Love) Towards our future

We spoke of many dreams

So lovely you are

But for some reason (I'm scared)

Ah, without nodding (This is)

Yes, you've troubled (reality, isn't it)

my feelings...

(I love you, I love you forever)

Hey, I'm embarrassed (My heart)

Hey, I'm so happy (is pounding)

Got into a new Idol unit. Niji no Conquistadoll.

They have too many members, but they sound great. Short twintails the best, but there's a lot of talent all around. Usually I wish production companies would create sister units instead of clogging up a single unit with so many members all in different skill levels (just in case some girls call it quits, no doubt), but these girls sound great together and they managed to make most of them seem unique enough among each other. Honestly, I'll really only be watching a few of these girls while enjoying the music.

Okay. Shit. I started studying them before I knew it. So far I've counted 4 Summer songs and all of them are good. This one in particular gets me way too pumped, which is the second song in the Tokyo Idol Festival live I posted.

I'll follow this post with interesting facts I've found about the unit.

For now, these were my reactions as I was listening to their songs:

>I'll just listen to this song until I get a sense of it if it's not as good as the others.

>It's not as good as the others.

>Why can't I stop this song?

>This unit is hypnotizing.

>All these summer songs, each of them having their own swimsuit music videos.

>2015 (This video) summer song pumps me up way too much.

>Let's look at the later ones.

>Wow, this girl (Later found out to be Nemoto Nagi, born 1999) grew into having huge boobs. They purposely use a lot of her shots in the videos now. The camera seems to love her.

>There's even a tanned southern girl. I don't think I've ever seen an idol like that.

And then I went into the studying.

Niji no Conquistador (Nijicon or 2zicon) is an unit which aims to have an image of "every day is a cultural festival". They put an emphasis on creative pursuits and each girl is involved in one, namely voice acting, cosplay, and illustration. This is in no small part, no doubt, due to the unit actually being created by pixiv as part of the Tsukudol! Project. Afterwards the unit was handed off to Dear Stage.

As part of a focus on creative work, they teamed up with mangaka to illustrate their Tshirts and such, and the full music video for this song is 60 MINUTES LONG. This is the abridged version.

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play.

Nemoto Nagi is the young girl who grew into the aforementioned titty monster. She is known as "The otter who can sing and draw" because she looks like an otter. Not so much in these earlier videos, but in the more recent ones you can definitely see it, plus she hasn't reached titty monster status yet here. I just like this song.

By the way, I think I've counted 6 or 7 Summer songs so far and this group was only formed in 2014.

Nemoto Nagi also later joined Denpagumi inc which is a denpa idol unit also under Dear Stage who's gimmick is each idol representing a certain otaku interest they have. Nemoto's is Vocaloid.

She's also a gravure idol which isn't surprising with how well she does in front of a camera in the later videos when she grows into titty monster.

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play.

Somewhat relevant to the season, they made a zombie song almost two years ago, headed by the BABYMETAL writer, if you're into them.

>When they bully the zombie by eating meat in front of him.

Also, I don't know how the hell they did it, but this unit was overwhelming to me at first with how many girls there are, but now I can identify most of them.

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play.

This is my favorite song by them, and even though I've seen 7 or 8 variations of Swimsuit summer music videos, this one reigns supreme as the lewdest.

I haven't taken the dive into nip sites to study these girls yet, but I think I'm at the limit of knowledge from English sites. You'd be surprised at how much is left blank and unknown about each girl if you don't know nip, which only makes the idea that they're as soulless and commercial as Korean pop stars more pronounced in the West.

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play.

For an idea of how titty monster titty monster became, here's the most recent Summer song.

You'll recognize her immediately, I think.

There's an earlier one that showcases her growth spurt even more, but I actually like this song, so I'm posting this one.

For all you Southern Hemisphere anons, this unit should be perfect for you, but it's fucking weird that I got into them in December here in the North.

I was reading Anna's blog and it seems like she was surprised they were continuing with the red mask as well. The original Center of Alice Juban wore a Pink mask.

They consulted her on who should wear the mask beforehand and she just said "Someone who isn't like me" so the new Kamen Joshi would be different.

In any case, I think I'm done with Kamen Joshi. The way they just hand off her red mask like that is way too much of a corporate idol move.

I don't like Idol Culture. Not only the music is shit, but there too much worship and crazy people following them. Fuck, one Idol had to shave her hair and cry in front of a camera to apologize to her fans because she had the audacity of having a boyfriend.

This son perfectly matches what I'M like when I'm drunk on the street at 11pm. However, I am a 35 year old white male.

I KNEW I KNEW THIS SONG FROM SOMEWHERE. Puffy AmiYumi covered the original version of this for Hit Parade

I don't like idol culture either, but you're just a faggot if 3D being PD is why you don't like it.

From nothing to one of the best in Japan in 3 movies 1 short anime and 1 regular length anime. A fine series to watch over Christmas while being guided by the only wota here. The best part of all of it is that all the characters are based on real idols so your favorite idol here is someone you can find elsewhere. My favorite is Minami. Shes a good girl, perpetually hungry, adorable, and protective. Her 3D counterpart who goes by the same name voiced Hana (Hanayamata), Non (Pripara), Mary (Kakegurui), and Lily (ZLS) along with many small supporting roles. She is getting more main character VA work too since she people have realized she can do more than a cute little girl voice.

The second best part of the series especially the 1 cour anime is the emotional shitshow it throws at you. The writer or Yamakan himself, minces no words with how idol life is. Everything can be perfect one moment then suddenly shit hits the fan. The characters get to enjoy this and resolve their issues with little dramatic fanfare. Overall the series is a bit of commentary on the idol industry with numerous references and ties to existing idols and idol culture (recurring wotas and etc.). The goal of this is to drive home the message that idols have to enjoy their work to truly be idols.

It feels good to cross this off the backlog as one of the few recent idol anime I haven't watched. The first two Aikatsu anime remain. WUG with its industry commentary filled a gap in tying together the big names like LL, AKB, and iMaS. A must watch for idolfags.

Recently I was asked by an anon, "Why idols, though? The amount of passion is disproportionate." I told him what my tired brain could think of at the time, but let me answer him in full here.

I explained how idols were there for the same thing the wota are, but I'm not sure I could explain it right. It might just be a humble Japanese thing, but remember how Love Live taught us how difficult being an idol is, and how hard idols work. Now understand that they are doing all of that hard work for a bunch of stinky otaku to have a fun night. There's a reason Jewel Kiss did that Triple Encore.

Now you're going to see the fruits of all their hard work and you're just going to sit there? No, the least you can do is learn some calls. Wota want to support their idols and idols want to support the wota. It's a synergistic relationship and all the wotagei and calls are there to fire up the idol's performances so they can shine even brighter, fueled by the pure love of the fans. Lives are a result of both sides supporting each other.

Hope any of that made sense.

Idol lives are so hype. It's like moe, where instead of a burning desire to give headpats, it's a burning desire to support and have fun, on both sides.

Glad you liked it. It does a good job with explaining what idols are all about and why the nip Youtube comments for idol videos will always have someone shitting on AKB.

I hope you're excited for

It's a huge venue only top idols get. Kamen Joshi only got it once after their breakthrough songs.

That final scene with the crowd chanting "Wake Up, Girls!" and the picture of them holding the trophy always gets the goosebumps going. I just wish Yamakan got more budget for this project, but this is Wake Up, Girls!. It's an interesting anime that happened and I'm glad for it. Like you said, it really ties together all idol franchises with bits of the puzzle you can't find anywhere else. I hope anons can learn more about idolfaggotry through it like you have.

Nobody's going to understand idols or wota culture if they aren't experiencing it. A lone autist trying to show /a/ what it is through words and words alone isn't going to do anything for something as experiential as this. You need to see and feel it.

Nemu's voice is my favorite, I love that she gave it to vocaloid so people can make more music with her gift. I will still dream for her to change her mind and persue solo or that I can hear more of her voice somehow.

Eitaso is a really good singer, really love her performance for ユメ射す明日へ

My favorite voice is probably Risachii, but they all have such personality and Eitaso in particular can really deliver soul-shattering moments, I think because of her high energy genki personality. Thank you for that video, it's beautiful. Both of them, actually. I had just recently gotten into denpagumi, so I missed most of Nemu's time in, unfortunately. She seems really fun.

Nice pick, that bridge is a perfect example of Risachi's strength. She can make this heavy vocal sound that is so captivating in a wonderful way. I also really like her part in the bridge for ちゅるりちゅるりら

There is an awesome video of Eitaso somewhere doing imitations of all the dempagumi members on a talk show

Someone suggested dempagumi to me a long time ago and I really liked it but for some reason I didn't pick them up and lost a lot of opportunity to see them. I've been spending the last few years trying to catch up.

The group feels different than it did a couple years ago. Still I feel they are on another planet, nothing is as good. I'm really glad they're still working so hard.

I love idol variety shows. Lets me understand more about each member. Not a whole lot of it is subbed, but I can get by understanding most of the full episodes. They speak in really easy to understand Japanese, and if you can read basic moonrunes, even better. Certain parts of the raw episodes are subbed anyway.

This is a corner where Eitaso shows Pinky some doujins. Pinky is really cute.

I'm into a lot of Chika Idols, it's hard sometimes.

Not sure where they are playing, but their Christmas One Man Live is probably the best they've ever done, maybe right around the same level of >>863567

Their performance quality and popularity rose super fast. I've been watching them since they started and they didn't used to be anywhere at this level. It's only been about a year since they started, but they've been putting on shows at least twice a month. You can still see all their old performances on Youtube, I think. This is the Christmas Live.

Now-retired Anna-chan from Kamen Joshi/Alice Juban wishing us a belated Happy New Year. She made this video a while back and never got around to posting it until now. Everyone's asking her,

>What are you up to these days?

>How have you been?

>I miss you!

And so on. I'm loyal to her forever. I hope she gets out of this slump soon and goes on to become that actress she wanted to be. I'll be cheering for you, Anna-chan.

I also feel that they were generally more attractive, and that goes for Western actresses. I have no idea why, but they just are or were.
