I didn't think she could become even more of a normalfaggot.

I don't know what this Wake up! manga is. It seems cute, though, Looks like Don't Become An Otaku, Shinozaki, but with less overt yuri elements and more of a harem approach

I might have given her it's the first episode, but not with this.

>K-kemono Friends is kemono

Well, that's the joke. Kii-chan knows about the H-stuff but she is unsure about Tomoko's level and she does not want to rush it. Can you pick a more kemono anime in recent years?

Overlord with the lizards was a lot more kemono

>Oh dear ...

Japanese rap/hip hop in anime is nothing new. I'm referring to the fact that it apparently is some kind of live-action series, possibly a casting show. Can't get more normalfag than that.

Nanachi is pretty much what a lot of modern Jap fursuit kemonomnoenoners look like, the huge lower body and bunny legs.

No. In any case Kii-chan has seen nothing to suggest Tomo is into scalies.

These have some good kemono in them but they are all sideshows. Kii was trying to gently convey her fake ? furry side so Tomoko would dare to open up to her. The main draw of the shows you mention is being isekaied so what is Tomo supposed to think other than that she likes isekai?

Compare a show that is more graphic and has some loli lewding in it to one which is visually non-suggestive but which is called loli friends, has a cast that is practically all loli and the whole point of the show is meeting new lolis and see what loli things they get up to. Which one is the true loli show? Which one is going to convey to another lolicon that you are of the same spirit and mind and not just a fan of an adventure show that happens to have some loli stuff in it?

That's what, episode 10? Kii was supposed to sit there with Tomo for three hours and then Tomo was gonna get the courage to open up because there's suddenly one kemono thing on the screen?

Your ideas are all bad and you should feel bad. To anyone looking beyond the mere surface Komono Friends was the connoisseur's choice. Kii-chan thought this through.

>These have some good kemono in them but they are all sideshows

In Zero? Certainly not. He is the male lead and I think half the first episode was only about him. Then again, she did walk in on Tomoko searching for female furry so maybe she didn't even consider that show.

Oh god, for some reason I got it in my mind that you were talking about Re:Zero and I didn't check the picture. I'll give you a comment but right now I'm going to bed before I do something even more retarded.

Right, didn't even think about that one. Guess that had a few kemonos too but you are right that they are all in the background. Except for that wolf guy maybe but he shows up late and he's barely a character either.

What is the difference between furry and kemono as far as the merc goes? He looks like one of those overly human furries that the west draws, with a clearly human body except for the fur on it. Also the female main character was very attractive and was wasted on that show.

>What is the difference between furry and kemono as far as the merc goes?

Not much, really. The artstyle is usually a bit different but that really depends on the artist. The main difference is that "kemono" doesn't have the same level of horrible fandom attached to it. At least the way we westerners use the word, I don't know how the japanese use the term.

I meant that she was looking at "female" furry/kemono pics. Kii-chan might rightfully assume she isn't interested in boys.

It's not called Wake Up, silly. It's called "Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dō Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui!" shortened to Watamote in discussions.

Thanks Captain O.

I must admit, i only watched the anime, but i went in expecting a comedy, boy oh boy was i wrong. This is the most depressing shit i have ever seen.

You have not seen much.

Meant the most depressing shit that is relatable to the avarage viewer.

So I got caught up for the first time in years. Who the hell thought giving Tomoko a harem was a good idea? Was there anyone who wanted this? Tomoko doesn't even act herself anymore, despite the fact that the entire arc revolves around everyone wetting their panties because Tomoko is "Just so herself!"

I also went back to read a few of the early chapters and even the panel layout is way better. The way the current pages look are so boring.

Opinions are like assholes

Full of shit.

I feel like Tanigawa is trying to show Tomoko age and mature by giving her lots of friends--what she should've done is give Tomoko a few close friends that make sense, like Nemo (because she sits next to her and they have similar interests).

>Is able to keep normal conversations with people.

>Has a lot of friends and is fairly sociable

>Grew out of games and realizes that they're a childish thing

>Acts like a proper older cousin.

Sorry what exactly isn't normal about her? The fact that she makes dirty jokes without blushing? I'd argue that's even more normalfag than not as someone who wasn't one would fret about coming off as strange. Tomoko meanwhile displays absolutely no remorse or apprehension at the thought. Anon when I started reading this I like many others could relate to her entirely, but she grew out of her awkward early teenage years, like some of us did as well. It's a coming of age story like many others and she's reached the point in the story where she's looking back on earlier parts of the story where she was awkward. But clearly you can't understand that and instead attack me like a retarded cuckchanner because you fail to understand story archetypes

File: 70b3fad4fa5b865⋯.jpg (56.73 KB, 437x472, 437:472, 5b629f8f79ddec3d73d88d5111….jpg)

>is not proactive about making friends, ends up in wide circle of acquaintances by happenstance

>is not proactive about keeping friendships, rarely if ever invites people out or starts conversations

>inconsiderate of the feelings and desires of others (though she is improving in this regard lately)

I understand that some people related to Tomoko because they had a similar experience in high school and thus the second half of the manga feels less like character development and more like a betrayal. I also understand that I may be biased toward the current Tomoko because it was more reflective of my personal experience. However, to declare her a normalfag because people aren't actively repulsed by her existence is a complete misread.

The other girls don't revolve around her because of her powerful charisma. She just happens to be in the right/wrong place at the right/wrong time. What has she done to make people like her? Basically nothing. What has she done to make that one girl hate her? Basically nothing. Her whole goal was to make friends by any means necessary by developing harebrained schemes and trying to copy others, but over time she found out by accident that the best way to do so was to just be herself. It's a simple message, yet it is lost on many of its readers.

File: 304f93576a1fa7e⋯.png (542.41 KB, 581x594, 581:594, 1459674613463.png)

Okay but where's the humor in that, projector-san?

1. As Tomoko is not a normalfag, she stands out like a sore thumb. She's a natural boke around these people. Her crass internal commentary, inappropriate actions, her hiding of her true self, you name it. A normalfag Tomoko would fit in perfectly with them, thus depriving the manga of all humor.

2. Just the idea of Tomoko being at the center of all these different groups of girls is amusing in itself. They've structured plots and gags around Tomoko being seen as this sort of mastermind that schemes to take friends away or turn them against each other, when she is actually being whipped around by this whirlwind of petty JK drama.

3. A series can aspire to be more than a gag manga. One should not be surprised when a story about adolescence actually tries to make a point about adolescence. While "be yourself" is a cliche, especially for imageboard users, it appears to be important to Tanigawa Nico. Obviously the story is to some extent autobiographical to them, so while they use it as fuel for comedy, it is also a personal statement targeted at insecure girls. (That it became popular among young western men is an accident.)

4. It's not perfectly written. Some chapters build toward establishing the complex social circle around her with zero short-term (and maybe long-term) payoff. There are countless characters, each with their own development and changing of alliances. This is indefensible, as it is neither funny nor enriching for the plot. While some of these sideplots are necessary to drive home the Tomoko-as-scub humor, most of it should be simplified or eliminated by flattening out the characters.

>Is able to keep normal conversations with people.

>Grew out of games and realizes that they're a childish thing

Chris-chan is a normalfag confirmed.

Her conversations are barely normal, she's constantly holding back from saying stupid shit and is failing.

Also, she is having "normal" conversations with people she knows. She's still ankward around strangers. So she still has ways to go.

And you talk as if growing up is a bad thing. Normalfaggotry is only bad if you consider their tastes is shit.

>most of it should be simplified or eliminated by flattening out the characters

Flat characters are the best!

>>Has a lot of friends and is fairly sociable

>new chapter out

This was a quality chapter. Way late but better late than never. It could easily just have been pandering fluff so getting this feels really nice. For the first time in years I feel like I have some grasp of what a certain character is feeling and wanting.

I hope Nico realizes one chapter now and then is all it takes. If these give us some grounding of where characters are, what they are thinking and where they are heading then all you need in between is a sentence now and then mentioning something the character did or said to make them not feel completely absent from the world when they aren't there. If we've been shown their basic circumstances then one or two sentences is enough for us to understand what they have been going through since we last saw them, even if it wasn't directly shown to us.

Its a "Wake Up" call for everyone in this imageboard though.

Oh boy! Oh boy! Do you know what day it is? I know what day it is!

Let's discuss the most important aspect of this chapter: How pink and how pretty do you think it is?

>Tomoko complimenting Nemo's pussy

This manga is getting gayer and gayer.

I'm honestly fine with anything as long as it keeps surprising me in ways to be awkward.

>Nemo used to have black hair

I keep forgetting that it's one of those settings where the characters actually have black hair. Does that mean that most of her class dye their hair?

As pink and pretty as sakura.

>Does that mean that most of her class dye their hair?

It would seem to imply this. Page 8 has Ucchi with brown hair and what seems to be Yoshida with black hair and possibly Mako with long black hair.

To be fair it's ambiguous. We all know what she meant.

Also for some reason small furry Ucchi. http://www.ganganonline.com/viewer/player/viewer.html?tw=2&cid=SQEX_DQX00000XXXY0010_72

>Post period 2018.11.01 to 2018.12.05

So I guess Niko is finally cancelling Watamote taking a rest on December 5th and coming back next year, right?

Is it just me or does W3 keep getting worse? Like it's not translating as much as just typing whatever the hell you want.

Yeah, I noticed the translation quality has declined, specially over the last four episodes, seems like WWW is rushing them.

>Nemo got it's own cool special episode

>Heard somewhere that a writer influenced the characters poll in favour of Nemo

Although I don't dislike Nemo, I'm totally assblasted Asuka or Yuri didn't win the poll. I hope we can get a backstory of the latter or the former soon enough before they graduate.

Another awful translation by W3. Why do they always they feel the need to randomly change the tone? Like why was it important to change Tomoki from being partly lost in thought and just saying what was on his mind into him being defensive about his sister? It kind of changes the fucking implication.

I love how subtle the Nicos are and how they rather have things be overlooked than spell them out. I can interpret that page about four different ways and if we get a clue to what is the right one it can in passing like 15 chapters down the line.

[King of the Hill theme plays]

Which one's got a mental disorder?

Aren't they all special in their own special way?

Tomo and Yuri are definitely special. I can't really say any one of them behave in a way that doesn't give me some concern but Mako does make it into the normal personality trait category. Of the bunch Asuka is either the most sane or the most twisted. Everything she does leaves a lingering sense of apprehension and not being allowed to see what she is thinking just makes it worse. That woman is dangerous.

I'm not a regular reader of this but the few times I've read it I will say the characters always struck me as terrible people, they're definitely dysfunctional. It makes you wonder how Tomoko never became more popular before hand.

I love how all of this is lost through her shoujo heroine filter. In this case she can't even see Moko's creepy face so I'm sure in her world senpai appears and talks like she is about to steal her heart away. Judging by her body language it's working.

IKE! Ina-chuu ping pong club > Ping pong animation

God taste.

Is this the grand blue of ping-pong?

Remember when she was trying to develop pheromones to attract guys in the beginning of the series? The pheromones actually do exist and they've been gaining in strength as she ages, except instead of attracting men they attract women.

I discovered this manga a month ago and I found out I love it. I also calculated the pacing of her final year, and assuming it keeps up, we still have 18 months.

adding to this post, because I'm a retard without one stream of thoughts; I really liked to stuff with Kotomi and Yuu, those were my favorite chapters in reading.

>I discovered this manga a month ago

How the hell is that even possible?

Nanachi is japanese bugs bunny.

>the *chans

You mean Image boards.

Good. That's the way we like it

I wish this manga never caught the gay. It would have been better for it to die than become this shitty mess.

Why was it a week late?

Reminds me of that interview with the authors.

<Not having friends of the same sex is true of Watamote's main character, Kuroki Tomoko, as well, isn't?

>原作 1巻に智子の中学時代の女友達(ゆうちゃん)が登場しますが、本当はこのコも出す予定はなかったんです。でも、編集さんから「友達がまったくいない女のコなんて、かわいそうにもほどがある!」と言われて……。

<Writer: We introduced Tomoko's friend from middle school (Yuu-chan) in volume 1, but originally not even she was going to be in the series at first. But then our editor said "A girl who doesn't have any friends at all is just too sad!", so...

>作画 原作の彼は、「友達がいるなんて“救い”があってダメだ」と(笑)。

<Artist: Originally, he (writer) said "We can't have any kind of 'salvation' like having friends." (laughs)

>原作 よくマンガで「モテない」と言いながら、なんだかんだいって、同性にも異性にも「モテてる」キャラクターっているじゃないですか。嫌いなんですよ、そういうの。

<Writer: There are a lot of manga where they claim the characters are "not popular", but at the end of the day they're popular with both the same sex and the opposite sex, aren't they? I hate that stuff.

I know several people disagree with me, but this is how I've been feeling about this manga for a few months now. It is comfy. I like the characters. The transition from having no friends to the point we are now felt natural after the school trip.

The fact that she still feels different than everyone is evident, and despite that she is still managing to have a good time with these people.

I won't back down from this opinion even if the writer, years from now, would say that he was phoning it in at this point in the story.

You're not alone.

It is called character development. If this was just a story of her being miserable all the time then it would be boring.

You can't make a story whose whole gimmick is an unpopular socially autistic girl and then give her a large yuri harem. It completely destroys the entire theme of the manga. Tomoko isn't unpopular anymore, she isn't autistic anymore, she is a normalfag now.

She's not popular with guys.

Having a few girls who tolerate her (and a crazy or two that stalk her) doesn' really solve any of her issues.

Kotoyama (Dagashikashi) drew Mokkochi

>It would have been better for it to die than become this shitty mess.

See you next chapter.

>Originally, he (writer) said "We can't have any kind of 'salvation' like having friends.

That was over seven years ago. Having a salvation would definitely have ruined the merciless tone of where the story started off but like in any story once you have established where a character is you have the choice of either letting everything stay the same forever like shitty fucking cape comics or moving them in some direction like something that resembles a story with a fucking living human being.

Moko had one full school year of coming from a fairly mundane middle school life the first pages of the manga makes this obvious to just being the most miserable fucking failure of a person she could possibly be, successively failing at absolutely everything she had set out to do for a whole year.

At that point they they absolutely did have the choice of giving her a second year of the same thing. Personally I would have loved to see her deteriorate even more, meaning giving up even trying to talk to her brother, completely turn in on herself and seriously consider whether it's worth even trying anymore or if she should just end it, but that was never going to happen in this manga. They had already stated that Moko starting to be bullied for being so awkward was out of the question so one has to wonder just how much more room there was for Moko to become more miserable, given they seemed to have a limit for what they were willing to put her through. Without any continuing deterioration from her failures it would essentially become stagnation with just the newest gag of the week without it ever having any further effect on her as a character, so it's quite possible they just saw the end of the road for where they could willingly to take Moko on her journey of degeneration.

In any case what they chose to do was to let her spend the whole second year SLOWLY AS FUCK beginning to interact with people again but at this point with all the mental baggage of the first year. They start by throwing in Komi-something (after just about two years of publication) precisely because at this point Moko suddenly starting to interact with anyone in her class would be completely unrealistic. Once they have softened up Moko with Komi and Yuu for like half the school year, milking that development for gags in the process, they do the Kyoto arc where she is forced to interact with three other leftover misfits. Rehabilitated just enough to engage with them but with all the mental damage she has taken in the previous year and no previous personal history for her to fall back on it's some of the funniest and shit of the whole series. Thanks to circumstances and Ogino melding the weirdos just ignoring each other after the trip simply isn't possible and so we enter the long process of Moko's retardation just rubbing off on everyone and everything that interacts with her, making everything awkward and in doing so making the others repeatedly lose control on their own dysfunctional aspects until everyone just seem to give up any pretenses of acting normal when being around her. At the end of the second year she is somewhat back to where she left off from middle school in terms of companionship, meaning no deep friendship but some classmates she talks to and has hanged out with on occasion. We're now six years into serialization. It took pretty much four whole years to do this.

Then we start year three. She's had two full school years since the manga started to learn not be completely retarded and now actually has a few people she can talk to and whom she has (mostly) stopped putting up her bullshit act around, so when the Mouse Land arc happens she actually manages to (awkwardly) bond with some of those people and from there on these relationships slowly deepen over the following year of serialization almost like they were actual fucking schoolgirls.

Holy shit, how could this travesty of forced development have happened? Stop the fucking presses.

These threads wouldn't be the same without the:

>I love it!

<I hate it!

The writer is a girl.
