Here's a better new thread than the other one.

The gang meets Trish and we get so see Narancia's stand Aerosmith Lil' Bomber.

So I read all of available Jojolion in one sitting. Man is it weird.

>The initial premise is officially solved since Vitamin C, now the plot is about a conspiracy of rock humans trying to find the new Rokakaka created by Gappy in the Higashikata's literal backyard.

>King Nothing, a Stand with absolute smell, can't figure out a funky-smelling branch in the property (Yes, I know he has to touch the object first, but nothing stops him from tracking any regular branch and finding the odd one out).

>Jobin seems to be antagonist at first, but nope, he's well-intentioned, he just lacks principles.

>We still don't know what the fuck Paisley Park really does, and get the hell out of there with that nonsensical doors explanation.

>One of the Stands is literally It Follows.

>Kaato appeared for a grand total of three chapters, then fucked off, having set up nothing of importance to the main plot.

>Joshuu got a cool arc against a Stand that buries people in money, and it's so old the entire world's law enforcement and business know about it.

>It has absolutely zero relation to the plot in any shape or form.

>Also what were the wall eyes about again ? Josefumi and Kira didn't fuse because of them but because of the Rokakaka.

I just don't get the sense Araki knows where the fuck he's going with any of this, beyond muh equivalent exchange which is, at least, a consistent theme.

File: 3d389a901e8c93f⋯.webm (9.09 MB, 1920x1080, 16:9, giorno and dio visit mcdo….webm)

I know Grateful Dead and the train is going to be a long arc, but realistically how many more weeks before White Album?

Araki's immortality came at the price of his ability to remember things.

The money stand arc was just about Joshuu starting to realize his stand powers. Part 4 also had plenty of arcs that were pretty much inconsequential. I hope Araki does actually have something more planned for Kaato.

>Good job running over her Giorno, we must kill all anime women.

I know this was originally made by some retarded Redditor on JewTube but this webm brings me great enjoyment everytime I watch it anyway.

Trish actually looked better in the Janitor disguise

I have to say I hate that the end of the episode had Narancia visibly shrinking. It was done much better in the manga where it first shows him wondering why his shoe seems a little bit too big and stuff. Takes a second for the reader to figure it out, rather than just having the truth of the ability shoved in their face immediately.

How come Giornio isn't an evil cunt? He's related to DIO, not the Joestar family.

He is gay and that is pretty evil. And technically he is related to Joestars, because Dio fucked girls with a rented dick.

I forgot he was using Jonathan's body.

Also, does this mean that by living in Jonathan's body, DIO is cucking himself now since he technically made Jonathan's son?

If a man fucks a single mother, but no one is around to raise the bastard, does he get cucked?

Giorno is technically moreso Jonathons son, since it's Dios head and brain controlling the body, but it was Jonathons dick and sperm that he impregnated with. His hair turning blonde was probably just some DIO spirit thing.

I'm going to guess between February or March is when White Album will appear.

If a man fucks a woman and leaves her the job of caring for his bastard, then he's the bull.

File: e45b785b26e8f4e⋯.jpg (320.47 KB, 1263x795, 421:265, Deepest lore.jpg)

I think the vampirism must have spliced Jonathan's DNA with Dio's DNA, CRISPR style. That's the only explanation I can think of for Giornio's hair turning blond when his stand abilities awoke.

What if you fuck your woman with another man's dick?

A fun thought experiment is to take non-major Stands, put them in another part of the series, and think how fucked would their opponent be.

>Cheap trick in literally any setting that doesn't feature a ghost alley

>Highway Star in Steel Ball Run

>Black Sabbath at night

>High Priestess in the prison part of Stone Ocean

Part 8 sets up one of the greatest mysteries and it dropped the ball super hard. The arcs with the Higashkata family up to Blue Hawaii were pretty great, but it's gone downhill from there. It's gonna take some genius work to recover this hot potato mess.

>Fun Fun Fun takes the place of Green Day in a helicopter

Silver Chariot in uhhh oh wait no this stand is shit in any setting imaginable.

Okay, so I was listening to Fighting Gold, and I realized something. It's got a similar tone and structure to End of The World.

I know next to nothing about music theory, so are there any /mu/tards in here, who've noticed similarities between these two, that can bolster my claims?

I say this, because every part, so far, has had an opening reflective of the tone and themes of the part in question. And go figure, the OP that FG sounds most similar to is the one where DIO shows up, both in the story and literally. And wouldn't you know it, the first episode/few chapters, deliberately have Giorno parallel DIO in a lot of ways. Both on obvious imagery, (back to the camera, emphasis on some weird ear based trait), and characteristically (ruthless, magnetic personality, having a dream, etc). So by extension, it stands to reason that the parallels to End Of The World are intentional, since it sounds almost like a heroic version of the song.

Milagro Man could have destroyed all the greedy cunts that composed Part's 4 party.

Limp Bizkit in any setting that's not on some musty basement.

Bohemian Rhapsody in any setting that's not a world about to disappear.

Silver Chariot isn't shit, it's in fact pretty good. It's just that Araki saw its strengths, that is speed and precision, and decided Star Platinum should be better at both.

B-but Silver Chariot has a SWORD! That means it can POKE stuff. Can other stands POKE stuff? I didn't think so!!

Bohemian Rhapsody is absurdly powerful in the sense that it has infinite range, but it's way too easy to defeat. The second anyone figures out you can just come up with a new character specifically designed to defeat it, it's done. There is no setting where it would be invincible.

Also, I think Whitesnake in Stardust Crusaders or Diamond is Unbreakable would apply. This fucker only needs to graze you once to put you in a coma. In a part where fists and raw power are the primary way to deal with things, everybody would be fucked against Whitesnake. But then again, even in its own part it's broken as shit.

>This fucker only needs to graze you once to put you in a coma

I always wondered why that ability of Whitesnake was so underused in Stone Ocean. I think the trickier abilities it has only get used once or twice.

The thing about BR is that while it's not that hard to beat, it can do world-wide damage at an absurd rate. The fucker wrecked shit across the globe in Stone Ocean and the only reason this didn't have consequences was because the entire universe imploded right after

Was really expecting the "art piece" to be more censored. Or that scene just removed entirely, seeing how it's basically irrelevant to the plot (aside from further establishing that Rule #1 about Passione is: You Do Not Fuck with The Boss", and Rule #2 is: You DO NOT FUCK with The Boss). But I'm glad they kept it, because it's pretty goddamn awesome.

>Narancia's Li'l Bomber

Eh, I'm not even mad. It's kinda a cute name, actually; fitting for a cute boy(?).

So many anime original scenes but they're actually great. Sorbet and Gelato's faggotry was mentioned and their killer was shown to be Cioccolata. The assassin team is introduced early and given character and motives. Boss's punishment is much more impactful than the manga.

DP is seriously the best studio for Jojo.

How much will Part 5 last anime-wise? One 24 episodes seasons or 2 like Part 3?

This part is the most ridiculous thing when you are a pastaman and can tell nearly everyone is named after common food items. It really loses impact when the villains are named Cheese, Fish, Melon and Ice Cream.

Not being a mouthbreather works, too.

This show has a nigga named REO Speedwagon and you're complaining about the food names?

While I have you, Pastaman, can you tell me the best Italian equivalent to "what the fuck" ? I'm writing a novel set in Firenze and I really need that at the moment.

39 episodes straight, just like Part 4

Imagine if this series also had some weird powers named after bands or songs.

If I had Bohemian Rhapsody, I would create a character whose abilities are "Anon is invincible and omnipotent and wins at anything he tries. This ability can never be undone or reversed or superseded. No takebacks."

Band names at least sound cool. If some wacko is chasing you with his Metallica stand at least that sounds threatening, but then he reveals his name is a dish of creamy rice and the impact lasts as long as a tomato in a knife commercial.

You are doing it wrong, cazzo.

>Bohemian Rhapsody in any setting that's not a world about ti disappear

And if his user wasn't a drug addled idiot

Because mafiosos dressed like the most expensive strippers on planet earth is, by itself, serious business

That would be cool, imagine a Stand named for Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, bet it would make people into your personal puppet hitmen if the stand touches them, the stand it's self being something like a silver dollar. I bet someone could even rise to become President with a power like that.

>not capturing formaggios sick dab

You know what's the strangest thing about Stone Ocean?

>Regular Stand

This is my Stand, 「BEE GEES」, it has this neat magical effect of enabling to me to taste DIO's dick from anywhere in the world.

>Dragon's Dream, Sky High and Heavy Weather

This is my Stand, it actually invokes a strange natural phenomenon of the real world, except oh wait it's a bullshit debunked myth.

I mean, the rods at least have this cryptid mystique to it, but Feng Shui? Subliminals that turn your arm into snail eggs? The Stand isn't stated to make those real like GGGOH forces Zeno's dichotomy paradox to be real, either. In each case it just clearly utilizes the force of something that already exists outside of Stands.

Of course JoJo isn't supposed to be plausible, but it really strikes me as strange Araki wanted to forego magic for a really flimsy attempt at "realism" three times in the same Part.

Reminds me that one thing I hate more than almost anything in any "supernatural" franchise is the attempt to explain magical or fantastical things using things that have basis in scientific fact, and are thus easily seen as bullshit. Like how FullMetal Alchemist explains the power of alchemy is coming from tectonic plates, which is nonsense because that's a known geologic process that is fully understood: there is no "unaccounted-for" energy that could somehow be siphoned off to power alchemy. This is a similar problem.

In the first episodes of Star Trek, the thing that was part of the powerplant of starships was lithium (albeit modified in some handwavey fashion). But very quickly the producers recognized that this was stupid, because lithium was a real element with real properties that were fully understood, and so pretending as if it could somehow catalyze antimatter to produce craptons of energy was absurd. Hence, they invented dilithium, which being completely fictional can have any properties they ascribe to it. If people don't have the scientific clout to understand what they're invoking (a counter-example would be in Evangelion where the mention of a Dirac Sea, in reference to an Angel that essentially acts as a portal to hammerspace, actually makes some level of sense), they should just avoid it entirely. Trying to be "realistic" and instead just making yourself look like a complete moron and breaking the suspension of disbelief in your creative work helps nobody. Like failing to check your math when you make a claim about distance or whatever.

>This is my Stand, it actually invokes a strange natural phenomenon of the real world

Would you consider Survivor to be similar to those stands? I remember the explanation for its power having something to do with stimulating the limbic system or something.

I did consider including it in those three, but decided against it because the influence of electricity on the nervous system is proven, it's just not that directed. So Survivor is a reasonable example of bending a perfectly scientific phenomenon (electricity fucking with a nervous system) in a magic way to create a specific result. Unlike the others, it doesn't base itself on batently bullshit pseudoscience.

>Star Platinum is only really special because Araki says it is.

Something that always bugged me about Star Platinum, after part 3, is that when JoJo stops time, he says Star Platinum Za Warudo(The World), when he should say Star Platinum Toki yo Tomare(Stop Time). Za Warudo, was the name of Dio's stand, so when he said Za Warudo, it was to call out his stand, and to stop time he said Toki yo Tomare(though it was more for dramatic effect, he could call his stand without calling it, and he could stop time without uttering a single word). So why does JoJo say Star Platinum Za Warudo to stop time?

Is this some kind of bait post? I'm not defending the Italian, but what the fuck is wrong with you?

What also bothered me was the need to explain things that would seem obvious. Like Joseph being able to feel Dio's "dark aura" because they share Joestar blood, even though you can generally feel the presence of evil magic, unless I'm missing something. This part's adaptation has seriously been 10/10 so far. I actually have nothing bad to say about it. Yeah, the censored Stand names are annoying but that's just a thing you have to put up with.

There are subs that correct the names, ie. VentoFisso/VentoGiusto and come out very close to the horriblesubs releases.

I'm just waiting for them to get to the fights that were my favorite in this part.

They're just the HS subs with the restored names, so any minor mistakes CR has made will remain. They're okay to watch on release day but not much else.

Restored names is still a step up from the likes or Aerial Forge Worker or Adhesive Digits

>Aerial Forge Worker or Adhesive Digits

Those are actually a step-up from CR's Lil' Bomber and Zipper Man

I'm not disagreeing with you on that.

How would you all go about the names?

Personally I'd go for dumb shit that sounds close to the original

>Zippy Fingers

>Six Pistols

>Error Smith

Didn't even explain when/how he got his Stand, either. I don't think he'd be let into the gang as a powerless 16-year-old. Also, if he went back to school, why is he still kinda stupid?

Oh, and what the fuck kind of "eye disease" causes death??

>Oh, and what the fuck kind of "eye disease" causes death??

Probably same one Narancia had.

I agree and yet seeing so many places i've visited is making the meatball in my chest throb.

It's "ma che cazzo?"

Parts or bust. Read the manga.

I think Davidpro stopped trying as the series went on, since they know it's fucking Jojo and everyone's going to watch it. Part 4 wasn't much better than 5 but I placed it higher just because it's elevated by the story. Similarly for 1, the story was understandably the weakest but it had more effort in the animation, probably because it had to be the first impression.

There can never be anything greater than Joseph in his prime, so obviously nothing will ever top that. For some reason I've always really liked p4; partly because I feel it's when Stand powers reached their peak without getting too ridiculous and specific, and seemed more based on personality rather than being randomly assigned. P3 was good at the end, but slow at first and the Stands were so basic; so far I've liked P5 a BIT more, but not much so we'll see. P1 just bored me to tears.

The whole point of the test is that you're either autistic enough to baby it until you make it the full 24 hours or mess up and relight it and get a stand. He got a stand by relighting the lighter

Im more curious as to how Narancia smuggled the lighter out of prison without a stand.

Giorno had to conjure up some flower bullshit with GE.

Narancia on the other hand didnt have magic powers, and probably is too much of a dumbfuck to have thought up a clever way to smuggle it past the guards.

My theory: Narancia didnt even make it out of the cell hallway before the lighter went out.

He probably accidentally blew it out like Giorno almost did, relit it, and Black Sabbath arrow'd him in the face in full sight of Polpo.

I'm guessing it's rare that someone is actually autistic enough to babysit the lighter, and the ones that are get put into boring gang positions, never learning about Stands. Polpo wants people to fuck up and get stabbed. That's the real initiation test, whether they survive or not.

At first I thought it was a trust thing and you're supposed to just be honest and tell him you couldn't do it because it's pretty much impossible.

But then only the liars would get stands

Aero Sync could work as well.

I like part 4 though. It's /comfy/ as fuck.

You meant Morally Ambiguous Endeavors Undertaken for Bargain Prices, right?

>FullMetal Alchemist explains the power of alchemy is coming from tectonic plates, which is nonsense because that's a known geologic process that is fully understood: there is no "unaccounted-for" energy that could somehow be siphoned off to power alchemy.

Why do you think the energy needs to be unaccounted for to be siphoned off? There is definitely potential energy stored in the stress between tectonic plates. So if their universe has a method to convert that energy into chemical reactions, then I don't see why they'd need to find some new and unexplained energy source to use for you to be satisfied. Wind power is a thing even though air flow is a fully explained natural phenomena without unexplained energy. We could use tectonic stress as energy too if we had a method to easily convert it to something more usable like they do. They probably just don't have as many earthquakes in their universe because they're constantly using the energy that would have been released in an earthquake instead for alchemy.

I never watched Star Trek, but knowing the properties of a Carbon atom doesn't mean we know the exact properties and uses of every compound that contains Carbon. Plastics were made by experimenting with carbon compounds, and mechanical implementations, like the engine, were made to use carbon based compounds, like gasoline, in new ways even after we already understood what it was. Most advances are probably going to be from discovering new ways to combine or use a fairly small list of elements we already "fully understand" rather than trying to discover some unstable 250+ proton element that magically does exactly what we need.

Doesn't have enough momentum for me, and all the protagonists are generic.

The main antagonist is the best part of the series and only comes after a series of really random encounters, because "stand users meet and yadda yadda"

Jojolion chapter is out and this doctor nigger continues to be the most disturbing fuck in the series

Thinking about that puts a funny image in my head. I like to now think he just tripped and dropped it. re-lit it and was then stabbed by the arrow.

Narancia just keeps letting the flame go out over and over right in front of Polpo, and Polpo just keeps giving him another chance. Until he just gets fed up, says "fuck it!" and has Negro Saturday stab the fuck out of Narancia with the arrow, assuming because he's a dumb shit that he'll just die because he's obviously not worthy. Imagine his surprise when Narancia actually gets a Stand.

Isn't it almost time for a new OP? What episode did DiU get a new one on?

We probably won't be getting a new OP, until everyone shows their abilities. Personally don't see it having two OPs, and I would put the second one, right after they officially betray the Diavola, but if they want to have three OPs, then I guess it would be right after this few episodes before the train, to showcase the rest of the assassination team.

>Mirror Man

>Purple Smoke

Could have been worse.

Miles better than fucking "Zipper Man"

Can we get some fansubs where they deliberately go full retard like

in the names?

So like,

They missed an opportunity to call him Zipper Head.

They really nailed Purple Haze in the anime. He's very disturbing looking, but also derpy and adorable.

Maybe there won't be 3 like DiU, but I guarantee we will get at least one more. One more OP that will be fucked with by King Crimson in the finale.

>Personally don't see it having two OPs

I kept rewriting that I ended up writing two instead of three.

Agreed it will most likely have two, just like Part 3, plus Part 5 is Part 3 but in Italy. The second OP will probably start right after they betray the Don, since this separates the story into two parts, first part they fuck around through Italy escorting the daughter to her father, while fighting the don's enemies and finally confront him and the second part where they fuck around through Italy escorting the daughter to kill her father, while fighting the don's allies and finally defeat him.

Yeah, now that I think about it, it would be weird to have a new OP before Trish gains her stand. Also, I think the more likely distortion to the second OP will actually be Silver Chariot Requiem, not King Crimson

How the hell would they animate that distortion? KC time skip makes the most sense since it quite literally works like editing a roll of film, but how would swapping souls around look in an opening?

File: 7f79a255a23a653⋯.jpg (Spoiler Image, 3.4 MB, 1483x4500, 1483:4500, part5.jpg)

Seeing how Fugo is going to leave and Trish has a stand to awaken I can see another intro for when that happens. And maybe another one after King Crimson shows up. What >>889644 says it what I want.

The real fun part for me is going to be the 6 page beat down. If it's shorter than 2 minuets I'd be a little let down. I want it to be one of the best beat downs I've seen in anime.

I'll spoiler the image to not give it away to the anime only's

I bet it is common knowledge in Italy that you need to meet a fat man in prison to join the mafia.

There would still be a King Crimson distortion, but I think Silver Chariot Requiem would be a far more shocking one, could come with all new animation too, with sleep then panic spreading among the entire cast, like Dio near the end of Part 3

I will never be mad Araki chose to go with a six page beatdown for Giorno and not for Josuke, when the former is cold and calculating and the latter literally the most hot-blooded of the jojos..

Literally the only moment in the entire series where Giorno being Dio's son is relevant is when he screams WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

File: ee1e84e667914ee⋯.png (1.45 MB, 1280x720, 16:9, [HorribleSubs] JoJo's Biza….png)

People joke about Jotaro being autistic but I think Giorno is the one with actual autism.

How closely does it follow the manga?

Probably most accurate I ever seen with some additional scenes.

It's very accurate, and I'd say it's even better than the manga.

And it doesnt even make sense for him do it either.

The WRYYYYY screech is a vampire thing, not just a Dio thing.

Well, then it becomes a case exactly like why Jotaro in Pt4 uses "Star Platinum: The World" to stop time, despite that making no sense. The memes are just more valuable to Araki than following his own actual canon.

Giorno was kind of a case of increase the memes from the outset, really.

>He's Joestar plus DIO!

>He's so badass, nothing can faze him, and he's a mafioso!

>Except he's totally virtuous also

>And when you hit him, you get killed instead!

Then Araki woke up from his bender, realised he had fucked up, and put Buccellati in charge.

>came here to ask about a sub that is at least not fucking shit up on purpose and actually bothers to hear and then translate stuff correctly

>OP spamming HorribleSubs screenshots

Holy shit. I'm out /a/.

Always kinda wondered exactly how he would have inherited anything from DIO in the first place. Last I checked, sperm don't come from the brain.

But either way, you're right that Giorno was pretty damned OP right off the bat. Probably why he acts like such a retard so often, because holding the idiot ball is the only way to counter his absurdly powerful Stand in the plot.

Its magic.

>Giorno was pretty damned OP

At least he stopped using "I reflect 100% damage to my opponent gg no re".

>holding the idiot ball is the only way to counter his absurdly powerful Stand

It is kind of the rule. It doesnt matter how powerful your stand is if you dont know how to use it.

Also what is the "asspull hidden potential" stat of Gold Experience?

File: 890d7d7ab6a6754⋯.png (101.45 KB, 718x321, 718:321, ClipboardImage.png)

Compare him to Jolyne, who starts as a clueless girl out of her depth, but builds up determination until she sets herself on fire to win against an asshole flinging cryptids, and the villain, who previously dismissed her as just a loose end, is telling Donatello Versus she's too much for him. .

Plus, Gold Experience has pretty much limitless potential as he can create any lifeform. Having access to the entirety of plants and animals is fucking insane and it isn't used nearly as well as it could, mainly because you can't possibly cover it in a single part. Again, compare that to Stone Free, which is crystal clear about what it does and what its limits are, yet is extremely versatile with enough creativity.

>Also what is the "hidden potential" stat of Gold Experience?

It's A and you damn well knew it before even asking.

Anime has superior chromosomes, I can give you that. It's inferior in art and coloring, but I suppose it's a small sacrifice for anime-only fags.

It's much easier to do shading and other small details, when all you have to color/draw is a single panel as opposed to multiples panels frames per second and also have them in motion.

Laziest justification for fucking anything. There isn't even "magic" IN JoJo, so it's even more meaningless. If you'd said something like "a Stand did it", then at least that would be internally consistent, if no less bullshit.

>Gold Experience has pretty much limitless potential as he can create any lifeform

Wait, so does that mean he could re-create Perfect Kars?

Also, those stats are nonsense anyway. GE's durability rating of D means it's more fragile than an average human. One punch to the face even by someone with a scrub-tier Stand should straight-up kill Giorno by smashing his skull.

>Giorno by smashing his skull.

But GE can heal hm.

>tfw she will never give you a motherly handhob to help you with studying

I can't believe the anime is actually making me enjoy part 5. What is so improved upon anyway? It's been years since I read part 5 so I can't remember the issues I had with it.

Pacing was improved and the amazing art direction really makes justice to the setting, Italy is a gorgeous country and the anime communicates it.

For the longest time the only translations of part 5 were D U W A N G-tier, which really soured my experience of it. I think it played a role in many anons' experience of part 5

Characters feel less shitty. I remember how annoyed I was by Mista and his "its not my fault I have to feed my stand". In manga it felt like he was trying to get his face punched. And same goes for most of characters, they dont feel like complete fucking assholes who deserve beating.

I wouldn't really call the early part 5 scans "Duwang Tier", they were just straight up shitty. Duwang was funny with how bad it was, and very memeable. Part 5 didn't have anything like "R U OK REATARD" or "I AM THE FUCKING STRONG"

GE can't do shit if he's already dead.

Everyone else in the team knows to GTFO whenever his Stand pops up, and it helps that it doesn't spread the ebola until it punches something and ruptures the capsules on its fists. But it seems distinctly like they don't actually use it very often because it's so scorched-Earth. They just hold it in reserve in case shit gets so bad that a "nuke it from orbit, just to be sure" approach to the enemies is the best idea.

Makes sense too, they're respectable mafia, not terrorists. The amount of collateral damage that could come from a bioweapon like that in the hands of someone with a super short fuse is not worth risking unless they're in a kill hundreds to save millions scenario.

The full Torture Dance song got released a few days ago, by the way.

I forgot how cool Purple Haze was. We're getting closer to Grateful Dead, what I think was one of the cooler fights in part 5.

The snake immunity to the virus was a complete bullshit explanation.

Finally. Been waiting for that.

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play.

Between "I reflect all attacks onto my opponent" and "My stand can biological shit" his ability to generate antidote is more sensible. But it would be cool if it was a fucking toad with immunity, as in "toads develop better immunity while snakes develop better poison with each generation".

>best part

I love forgetting what happened in part 5.

I read it so long ago, but it's coming back to me more clear as I watch. Even when I said part 5 is far from my fav it has some of the best stand fights to me.

At first I was thinking the "trick" was going to be that Giorno turned some nearby bricks or whatever into a living puppet clone of his own body, infected it with the virus, and had it get sucked into the mirror world instead of his real body.

But he actually infected his own body on the off chance that spawning a snake in the vicinity of a deadly virus would somehow make it immune to it, which he SHOULD have had no way of knowing would actually work. I find myself sure that the alternate method I thought up is so fucking perfect, that it must be a "tactic" Giorno uses later in the manga and I'm only half-remembering it.

>Purple Haze's poison capsules are detachable so they can still fly off and infect someone if they block the punch

combined with

>But they didn't fly off earlier when PH was punching at the air in a frenzy

is even more bullshit, in my opinion.

Also, also:

>A Stand can directly attack a person, but a person cannot directly attack a Stand

seems weird. I don't recall that "rule" being mentioned earlier on, and it really makes no sense. How can a Stand make physical contact with a person, yet they can't make physical contact back?? What if they just punch the Stand's fists as they're attacking? Fucking weird. This entire episode seems full of weird shit, as if Araki wrote himself into a multidimensional Lovecraftian-geometry corner with the mirror-world nonsense, and had to use even more ass-pulls than normal to resolve the issues.

>I don't recall that "rule" being mentioned earlier on

That was a rule since day one. Only a stand can attack another stand with a couple of exceptions, like when a stand is a ship or a car.

>attack another stand

No the rule was, only a stand can defeat another stand, so no more Hamon.

There are also some exceptions.

Man, I'm absolutely loving watching this adaptation. I read part 5, and I vaguely remember each upcoming enemy stand's abilities, but I don't remember the fine details and how some of the fights resolved. I love bullshit like brick snake, it's very Jojo.

Adaptation is better than I remember the source material. I guess that might because it was the duwang translations I read first. I know there is an updated translation but I never got around to rereading it again because of the first translation.

Rule 5 is weird. The 'defeated' means killing the Stand, right? Not like when Pesci dispelled Beach Boy after his glass was shot, right?

>"I made a snake out of virus so because it made of viruses it`s immune to itself!"

>Oh and I can make a serum on the fly by someway mixing said snake with myself because fuck you

Now I realize why part 5 isn`t liked all that much, it`s wonky stands fighting wonky stands.

Yeah, Illuso was a smug dipshit but don't I think he deserved all that. He wasn't the usual coward we saw in earlier parts like flesh bud Kakyoin or Enigma guy.

I even get the feeling that it was his first time in a 'real' fight. I think that Man In The Mirror eased his sacrifice, he seemed way too uncertain during it and like he lost it all after he left the mirror world, and only regained his sanity after Purple Haze got to him.

Translations and dont be a douchebag. You know what they meant.

Be thankful its not a starfinger. But the lesson here is dont fuck with a stands which can melt or disintegrate you. The bud was bullshit. The snake was bullshit. But you should enjoy it.

At least the bullshit is largely contained to Golden Experience for most of the part

Most of the hitmen are like that, it's to establish that Passione's Stand Squads aren't equivalent to Dio's band of random paid-off stand users, they're almost on the level of the protagonists themselves.

It also anticipates how bullshit powerful KC is supposed to be.

Prosciutto and Pesci are top tier villains, much better than "hurr durr ebil cause split personality" Diavolo

In fact most of the Passione members are "heroic" enough in that they're willing to harm or kill themselves (Prosciutto's only goal is to die near the enemy so that his Stand can fuck them) while Diavolo's a cowardly pisser.

At least Giorno may have a reason to be autistic, given he was frequently beat up and had abandonment issues. Though I wouldn't say he's autistic as much as just an asshole living among much more evil assholes.

You can tell what is actually happening. Part V onward most fights are unbearable (save for Part VII since it's mostly shootouts so you clearly see who's shooting what), but when it's animated you can see where attacks are going and what they actually do.

I have that problem in part 8 sometimes. I've even re-read fights to understand what the fuck is going on. Something I had never even thought about doing.

I had the same problem as well. I wonder how often the studio had to go to Araki and demand that he basically draw additional panels so they could figure out what the fuck they were animating.

Part 8 has fights? It's literally just effect<effect.

Well he's sure as hell got the tism now that he's been vaccinated

Stone Ocean fights are pretty easy to follow for the most part. Enemy abilities are powerful but very simple in nature, the creativity lies in Jolyne having to figure out how to translate string into a solution. The only complicated ones are C-Moon and Jailhouse Rock. Maybe Underworld for the initial sequence.

I don't know if they had to do it that often, the major frames in each fight are clear enough to where they should be able to figure out how to animate it.

>Passione's Stand Squads aren't equivalent to Dio's band of random paid-off stand users

On the same way that Bucciarati's team, a group of gangsters who have been using their stands for quite some time, isn't equivalent to the Stardust Crusaders, a ragtag group of users who were still developing their stands

Even Doppio was good while still being a cowardly dick, comparatively speaking

I'm guessing they're just interpreting shit to get to key panels. Like with the torture dance.

New episode 13.5 is out, I wonder if its just old footage.

You think nips would actually do something like that?

It was just old footage. Next episode will probably be Grateful Dead at least.

You know, if Giorno had just let Black Sabbath stab GE with the arrow right away, we could have skipped like 90% of this part...

Dd they get a massive amount of new viewers in the last 8 or so episodes, and decided to make a recap one to get everyone up to speed? I don't remember any of the other parts having something like this.

Next episode had to get delayed for one reason or another, so they just whipped up the recap as filler. Probably not gonna be on the bluray or whatever.

Other parts usually had a break in the middle of the season/2 seasons. And they probably just wanted to celebrate cristmass without working.

Is the recap episode at all worth watching? Anything new?

I wonder how many more chapters part 8 will have. It seems like it's still a long ways to go for all the plot points to conclude.

It's because they needed extra time to finish he new OP/ED since Prince songs are always a pain to license

Stand arrow =/= Requiem arrow

Not to mention Giorno got stabbed with the stand arrow multiple times anyway.

>Implying they were ever meant to have different effects other than whatever the fuck Araki needed at the time

The design is irrelevant. All of them were made out of the same material so should all do the same thing.

Then this begs the question: how come Giorno didn't suddenly develop new abilities like Kira did when he was stabbed by the arrow?

Kira gets the arrow pulled into his arm though. Giorno only gets a few nicks on his hands and throat, and while you could argue that Jolyne gets a cut on her hand, keep in mind that was her stand awakening rather than a new stand ability. Or you can just accept that Araki can't keep it consistent and move on.

But come to think of it, doesn't he stop using damage reflection completely by the time he's done fighting Black Sabbath?

Regarding the arrow and Giorno, there are two answers, one and this is the most realistic one is that Araki simply forgot about Black Sabbath, but this is boring, so let me give you my interpretation. The arrow, or rather the material that it's made off, has a form of conscience, and it can choose upon whom to bestow the power of the stand. It can also decide to grant other abilities, but only if it deems the user worthy, when Kira got stabbed, he was deemed worthy and granted him Bites the Dust, when GioGio got stabbed by Black Sabbath he wasn't deemed worthy of receiving a new gift, but when he stabbed himself in the fight against Diavola he was deemed worthy.

I guess another explanation is that the arrow manifested by Black Sabbath was part of the stand, and not a true arrow(it can only awaken stands, not grant more abilities). Considering the fact that it's design had the pattern of the stand, all it did was stab people with the arrow, I find it hard to believe that it didn't come with an arrow, it would be funny to imagine the fat guy awakening his stand, discovering that it can't do anything unless he gives it an arrow.

>Araki has the arrow do whatever is required for the plot

>The arrow has a mind of its own and can decide to do whatever is required for the plot

Sorry, dude. I'm just not convinced.

That said, Black Sabbath DOES have a power on its own, which is being basically unbeatable whenever in the shadows. It has absurd strength because it's a remote Stand, so if Polpo gave it a command of "kill whoever saw the lighter being relit" instead of "stab with the arrow whoever saw the lighter being relit" it would presumably be deadly.

Also, we don't know if that was even its primary ability. Like Killer Queen, it could have done something completely different when close to Polpo, and the remote-aspect been just a secondary ability. Possibly this secondary ability was developed just to create more Stand users, per (one would assume:) Diavolo's orders after he gave Polpo the arrow.

>Then this begs the question: how come Giorno didn't suddenly develop new abilities like Kira did when he was stabbed by the arrow?

I heard the explanation most mental gymnast Jojo fans go by is that Requiem Stands are activated when someone's will is so strong in that particular moment that the Arrow brings forth their Stand's true potential, AKA their Stand becomes sentient and can do things that defy even their user's wishes (i.e. Killer Queen BtD protects Kira's secret from everyone, INCLUDING HIMSELF when he tries to harm Hayato, Silver Chariot Requiem understands that the Arrow must be protected and doesn't care that his user will suffer because of it, GER has its own voice and thoughts and Giorno becomes just a vessel for it)

No, most fans believe that. Only the beetle arrow (the others have a hollow head) can create requiem stands.

>The arrow has a mind of its own and can decide to do whatever is required for the plot

Did you remember when Kira's dad went looking for possible stand users? Well, the arrow did most of the job.

We're on Highway Star right now, well we just finished up, calculate how much more we have left based on the arcs left.

Please someone correct me but I read the part 5 manga a few years ago, and I remembered Fugos backstory being that the professor insulted his aunt and that is why he beat the shit out of him. He wasn't even angry it was just the only logical thing to do thought Fugo.

Now the anime says he was molested by a professor which I dont remember at all. Am i misremembering the whole thing? does Fugo even have an aunt?

Maybe he was molested and his aunt got beaten.

I've heard that Fugo only got a backstory in PHF (shitty fanfic) and DP decided to put an original one.

Purple haze feedback? I have never read it.

The molestation thing was added in for the anime

>it really strikes me as strange Araki wanted to forego magic for a really flimsy attempt at "realism" three times in the same Part

I mean to be fair, pseudo-science has been in this series since the Ripple was introduced and the Stone Mask was explained as unlocking mysterious powers through acupunture in the brain. But then again, I don't think Araki ever really intended for these to be scientifically plausible, he just wanted to give an explanation as to how they worked within context.

Let's just agree to not talk about the middle part of Stone Ocean, which even people who like Stone Ocean agree is the worst part of it.

Maybe he realized that and reseted everything, part7 has the most bat shit insane abstract stands but it somehow feels more grounded than Vento Aureo and Stone Ocean. Jojolion probably has the coolest stand concepts in the whole series, they are either not directly destructive and requires creativity to be effective or very straight forward in what they do, I think that`s the formula for good fights, partially what made part3 so good.

What? Vento Aureo's stands weren't insane like Stone Ocean, concepts like suit stands and area of effect abilities aren't that far fetched. The only ones I can think of are Baby Face and Gold Experience's bullshit.

They eat body heat

I wish there was a spinoff based around Speedwagon Foundation employees dealing with shit.

Like some dickhead who got a stand two days ago and decided to go on rampage with it, thinking he's god on earth because he got some minor shitty power.

Or maybe somebody finds a Stone Mask buried somewhere and we get to see some vampire shit again.

That would be rad. I'd be fine with either Araki or someone he trusts creating the spinoff. Or maybe just have it be Part 9.
