I think the only Virtual youtuber I actually liked to watch was nekomasu, it was some dude talking about his life struggles while using a foxgirl model he made himself. One day, his newest videos weren't getting subbed anymore and so I stopped watching. Seems he branched out, changed the name of his channel to something else and now posts weird 3d videos. Kind of sad, it was comfy.

So Ai-chan Is now Venom Ai-chan. Would be interesting if the creator did a spin of it, with Ai-chan mentioning how she's been dealt a bad hand, and doing some kind of Kamen Joshi situation and protested somehow, though taunting Kadokawa would be suicidal.

Ai is one of the Vtubers who are completely owned by a company. Ai participated in events created by Lide (that means Kadokawa) this January, and none of the Vtubers are owned by Kadokawa. She isn't in the anime, because two companies couldn't find an agreement, and not because of some conspiracy.

Considering how anti collab Activ8 (company behind Ai) is, it isn't surprising. They also have another target demographic, Ai's intended audience is the mainstream and not otaku, that's why she participated in the NHK special but not in the late night anime.

Got around to watching the third episode today. This show has its moments, but for the most part it's... not good. If the characters could stop flailing around like octopi for a second it might be better. The trivia segment is slightly amusing with the static character in the background drinking, and random education. Hinata's segment of walking to school is like a condensed form of Chio's walk to school and makes sense for her character and isn't overdone. The virtual wars segment would be better without arm flailing but its somewhat amusing. The Fuji Aoi park bit is ok because the youtuber doesn't flail as much and the gorilla is something different.

The best part of this show so far has been thee "Everyone's Virtual-san" that introduces random small youtubers. I discovered Kaede Higuchi through it and like her a good deal. Too bad someone as mellow as her didn't make it into the show more often.

Funny thing is... my favorite VY is Kaguya Luna, who is loud and hyper. But it works for her and the small video format (plus she doesn't flail like an idiot). I was subscribed to Mirai when she first started because she used to do the ebola chan and eilene videos which were cute. I wish Ebola chan could be in this show.

 No.902272

I'm beginning to think that the only idea Anno contributed to this is letting them use the Eva school uniforms.

>>902219

The flailing around might be a consequence of the program they're using, it doesn't really do well with body movements.

Also just around to watching episode 3. I like it. The rap segment had me genuinely laughing out loud. My only really complaint is that there is a lack of variety in the sketches, so we are just seeing the same segments each week. Feels very phoned in, especially considering the huge range of characters they have to draw on.

As to the arm flailing, I think its intentional. Firstly, if they didn't move around a lot, they would look really lifeless and trigger an uncanny valley effect. Kind of like when you see a bad face rig set up, and they look like a statue with an eyebrow twitching. Secondly, and I think more critically, they are doing the arm flailing because its supposed to be cute. I feel like they are trying to channel 'look at these crazy virtual youtubers, look how energetic and happy they are'. Its like the next level up from doing weird cutesy voices.

In any case, clearly this show is Anno's modern masterpiece.

This show is clearly the Proof of Anno's lack of soul. His lack of ambition, his lack of action. Just living on the scraps of Kadokawas leftovers. He forgot how it feels to be the underdog that no one believes in and went from making projects he liked to projects that has the highest probability of raking in money. A filthy coward who will never amount to anything.

Anno is literally investing in this project. All the V-tuber anime/TV shows are by Lide.

>Studio Khara is one of the minor investors involved in the project

I doubt it's been done but I'd like if there was an interview with Anno on this project. It seems like this kind of show would be an antithesis to the stance he's had on anime and otaku in the past.
