I've thought before about what would be the best possible situation for someone to go on one of these talk shows. If someone who was a really notable celebrity went on I think it would actually work out well but for normal people the best case scenario would have to be:
1. A really attractive, clean cut person (preferably an attractive woman). A big part of the reason it's so easy to make fun of ABDLs who go on TV is that they're so ugly. Having an attractive person explaining ABDL to people would go a lot farther towards explaining that ABDL can be "normal."
2. Show up wearing normal clothes, professionally dressed without going overboard on it. Also, don't allow them to use any photos of you in diapers or baby clothes, don't agree to wear diapers or baby clothes for the camera. There's a couple reasons for this. First, the audience won't have a direct image of you as an ABDL so the normal persona will be much easier to accept. Second, if they pull photos from the internet to use on the show, hopefully they'll pull photos of attractive girls in diapers, even if it's from paysites. This is good because having hot women do something will make it easier for people to swallow.
3. Be sane. Most of these talk shows are trying to get shocking or weird stuff to happen on camera, and it's their job to make fun of you. Laughing along with them at how ridiculous it is, but not getting emotional at the insults, will leave people at home watching with a much better impression of everything. Be reasonable about it, admit that it's strange and weird, but that there's not anything inherently wrong with it. Even if you do wet or mess, deny that you do so, and emphasize that it's much more about the clothing than anything else.
The only other thing I can think of which I'm unsure about is whether or not it would be better to emphasize the sexuality of it or not. On the one hand, focusing on the mental regression aspects of it might be easier for people to stomach, but focusing on the sexual side of things might be easier for people to grasp if explained correctly. I mean after all, spanking, and schoolgirls are considered universally sexy nowadays.
