My canvases are the double or one third larger of what we see on the final.
I still have the .sai files but I already marged down several layers however I still remember my process:
On the first pic the head and the body were separated folders. Almost every element were just 3 layers, one base color, one shadow layers and one highlight layer.
In the second pic the hair, face, gear and body were separated layers but the base, shadows and highlight were on the same layer.

Try drawing at 5k x 5k pixels or something thereabouts. Also, The girl pictures you tried probably had ~layers for each type of shadow and used a lot of diffusion. It looks like something I'd need photoshop to imitate. I am not sure SAI has quite those capabilities. That's why yours is mushy and theirs is soft, you couldn't imitate it just using brush strokes. As for the second one, check your brush hardnesses/brush tip. You pretty much were copying the style just fine but your brushes seemed a bit too soft around the edges. Also, for shading, consider having a LOT of layers with small opacities that add up together. That adds fineness and kinda smooths everything out.

The idea of using many tranparent layers to paint isn't foreign to me, in traditional painting its called glazing but I didn't concider using it digitally until this conversation, now digital and traditional may not be that different if I can apply such techniques

So I decided to adapt a couple of paragraphs from AmataurCopycat's Wakfu story and later ink and color them digitally. I tried sketching digitally but it is super stiff, like missing an elbow or a wrist, seems I'm going to be one of those persons who sketches analogically and then scans and finish digital. Sadly my current scans are like white sheets on thick fog, I need to look on better ways to scan them for the next time.
Each page has individual issues but across all of them perspective and rendering are problems.
1.3 I'm quit sure Eva is out of perspective here giving her a strange projection.
1.5 Dextro and Sinestro have very lame desings but that isn't much of an issue for such an small project.
2.2 That foot is out of proportion
2.3 the arms are kind of out of proportion, I'm unsure.
2.5 Perspective is off
3.1-3 there is no issue here I'm just very happy with this sequence
3.4 anatomy is a little clunky and some lines are pretty messy
3.6 perpective is very off, I was looking for a dramatic and forgot to set a vanishing point
4.3 Eva's head is weird but i think that's the way the scanner picked it up
4.5 Next morning after I finished this page I released I didn't reference Eva's bow, later today I hope to fix that and re scan the page. I tried to do two point perspective, its good enough but the vanishing point is kind of fuzzy since it was intuitive.
I'm happy how this come out, I'm polishing a personal style and getting a hold on perspective hopefully the inks will do justice.

In all honesty I'd say you're at that point where you are talented enough to make great rough sketches that are quality and wise enough to know that you could always do better.
At this stage, I don't think over analyzing the sketch too much would actually help you. I think going to a finished product once you reach a happy level would, in the long run, be superior practice. I've seen a lot of artists that just need as much experience as possible getting hung up on some specific things too much, losing that opportunity.
Also: Increase contrast -> Decrease Brightness x Until Happy

Which drawing program do you use? Your inking is currently, uh… nightmarefuel-tier. Like she is a dried up mummy or something. If you use SAI use the stabilization features. If you use PS use the line tool. Maybe before you do free-hand inking you should just use the line and curve tools that these programs offer. Your sketches seem well enough that I doubt you'd have any problem getting a quality ink if you had the help of the stabilization or software.
No.16201
>>16193
I'm using sai, I'm aware of the nightmereish quality of my inks, that is my regular style and one of the reasons I'm so insecure about my art since I know it is ugly but I can't help it.
I'm aware of sai's stabilizers, I mostly use 8 and 15 but I forget to change them depending on the subject. I'm also aware of the curve and line tools, that is how I made the frames for the panels.
I should twerk my tools for a more plesant crosshatching.
No.16205
>>16201
My own inking isn't very good so I might not be able to offer the best advice, but you could try using a brush which varies size with pressure. Part of the problem with your inking is that there's no variation in line strength. Ideally the borders of an object should be much stronger than shading lines which only serve to show the 3D shape of the surface.
No.16206
>>16201
Do you use a drawing pad like a wacom or a mouse? If you use a tablet the pressure sensing might be nice. Try the S stabilizer settings. Use a thicker line. Small lines show up the jiggle and scribble way too much. I am pretty sure I could get WAY better lines than this using my old as fuck bamboo, a high stabilizer setting, and thicker lines, and I can't hand draw in the least. The technology SHOULD be able to help you a lot.

I was thinking the same thing, but some people's computers choke to death at the right resolution. For a multi-panel comic page it should be something like 8k lines on a side on the low end.
Also, as for his crosshatching, he uses like 1/5th of the lines he needs to, doesn't make them go all the way to the line, and doesn't actually CROSS the hatching, so it would be normal hatching but that is hard to do.
Also if you're looking for some real time feedback and problem solving come to the #diaper channel on Rizon irc network. I don't check here that often.

I think that's exactly what is bothering me. Despite all the faces having expressions and the poses seeming dynamic and new, it just comes out like a bunch of vectors stuck together in a predesigned comic strip setup.
Your Marceline and Frankie Foster one seemed like there was something different about them, so those stood out to me as the most interesting.
This might be an odd suggestion, but perhaps try using a style you aren't actually very good at or try a rougher hand-drawn style and maybe trying to make the faces and what-not with a little bit of uniqueness. Perhaps stay away from that "everybody in a 3/4 pose mirrored across the center line".
tl;dr I think your art has body but no heart, like a really nice premium chicken sammich from McDonalds.

Yeah, the legs look kinda weird. But I really like how Timantha looks more little than the other girls.

The source material is chicken sandwich tier, he's keeping it grounded to the show.

That's literally what that animation style is

Agreed, I've felt my art often falls into that 3/4 "too on-model" trap. There are a few pictures I've made that break out of it, usually stuff I don't normally draw, the Gwen picture is still one of my favorites.
I don't have a tablet and my hand drawing skills are pretty crude. Everything I do is mostly mouse, pen-tool, and prayer. A lot of what I've learned from drawing is from watching other artists in streams. I'll certainly take what you said in mind.
Right now, I was working on an Emma and Kitty (from Total Drama Island) picture. I've hit a bit of a case of artist's block on what to do, I was planning it as a three panel age regression sequence, normal clothes, adult diapered, then turned into toddlers. Here is what I have so far, the thing in the center is supposed to have some sort of artifact or object that initiates the regression.

That's all true, but is it so much for a man to hope and dream for a better future for all diaperfag artists? Maybe I just have PTSD from so many fucking pony vector diaper edits popping up all the time or something.
>>16305
Yeah, I know the feeling of being skilled with the software tools but having no hand drawing skills to speak of. Kinda frustrates me since I generally dislike machine perfect stuff and really like sketchy styles. But you've made a market for yourself, so keep at it.
I have maybe one suggestion. Use a series of shorter lines to make a long line, making them not mesh up perfectly. I don't think SAI can do this, but in PS I would make the pen that traced the vector lines give a kinda crayony edge rough effect. It kinda emulates a hand drawn style and adds a bit of life.
OH, and I looked at your backgrounds. Some of them use colored outlines, the shading has bluring, or really no lines at all. I suggest that you make the art match the background. So maybe color your outlines or add black lines to the background. Or perhaps add a bit of bluring to your shading layer to match it. It might help to tie your art to the scene, making it seem more like a real whole.

So I was unable to make a study out of anything so I had to conform to look at some Basil Wolverton drawings and make the best out of them and I think I did.
This was an intense work but it was worth it, before picking up digital media I was skeptic because I never saw anyne do crosshatching this rich, but now I'm sure I would had never done something like this on paper. I'm worry it maybe too intense now.
Also 1.3 still sucks.

I've always wondered what would happen if Owen was diapered. We know what he does in the outhouse, so what he'd do in a diaper would probably be pretty severe.

Hey, looking good. Once you figure out how to get smooth lines you'll be in a good position for some black and white pieces. The #1 cure to wavy lines is making them thicker. I just kinda traced yours in 2 minutes and I think it already looks a bit better.

I don't like thick lines, I rather turn up the resolution.
No.16345

Thin lines are acceptable, but unless they are perfectly lain out they just look shite. Every little wave and imperfection stands out like a 2nd grade art class still life. Thin lines done poor look really horrible and amateur, but those same lines with thickness added become much more passable.
If you want to try this out, find a really simple cartoony pic with thickish lines and trace it with a thin line using a mouse without your line going out of the original lines. Then remove the original pic and you'll see. Redo it using thick lines and it will look much better.
No.16358

I see what you mean now, when I'm zoomed in the lines may look thick enough but now the lines used on Destro and Sinestro look more appealing and defining plus the thin ones used on Eva add to the depth.
Sadly I don't know how to do lettering digitally, I will look up that later.
I'm also sad I only made a panel, I don't want these comics to eat my time from other projects.

Yup, you got it. Also, don't be afraid to use multiple line thicknesses for certain artistic situations.
As for eating time, just power through it and release it. It will get you some fan base and give you the practice you need. Just gotta promise that you learn from any mistakes and don't let any compliments get you big headed!

Done.
No new issues with the art beside the ones I've already mentioned.
I was a little confused on the last panel on how to make it look wet without color and I think I didn't do it right.
Off to read tutorials.

Now with the ink wash. the paper texure is just something 'm experimenting with, totally reversible.
The first two panels had awful proportians because of the sketchy drawing but the Eva on the third panel is rather mellow, It came out better than I expected but still looks kind of messy.
Dunno what else to say.

i try drawing 'the right way' but i get so fucking bored.
draw 250 boxes, draw boxes in perspective, draw random shapes, draw trees and cars and shit.
i don't wanna draw any of that crap, especially the boxes, i get so bored and give up. is it a bad idea to just draw what i want shittily and then using that to see what i should improve on?

I think there is some famous quote out there, but I can't remember it so I'll just improvise: Doing what you are expected to, well, is work. Doing what you want to, poorly, is practice.
>>16423
Dump the paper texture. Use a brush setting that is way more transparent(fuzzy) around the edges for the lighter colors and medium grays, but keep the blacks sharp like you're doing. In inkwash the darks are sharp, the midtones are soft, and the whiter tones are very very soft with ill-defined edges.

If people isn't going to give me much critsism I may as well stop posting and I don't want to go to #diaper.
I'm happy that I made 3 panels even if they have obvious mistakes.
On 4 I don't have may issues excepting that maybe Eva looks wonky.
5 is terrible, Dextro looks flat
I like the effect with Dextro on 6 but Eva has a really wonky anatomy and some details don't work as expected.
All of this could have been solved with better defined pencil drawings.

Made this for practicing since I've been out of the loop for a while. Tootie's mom regressed. Messy diapers aren't really my expertise, theres only a few ways I even like them in pictures, but I sort of like how it looked in these pictures.
Also, has anyone played the game Stardew Valley? It's like a Harvest Moon for the PC. Its from the same people who made Starbound, which I know for a fact has moddable diaper clothing in it. If I knew how, I'd do it.

This pic seems pretty lively. Well done, even if stink-lines are autism-tier. Although I AM sick of making my diaper messes look like somebody puked up brown sludge into a plastic bag. So in the grand scheme of things, stink lines make more sense that a brown colored diaper seat.

Thanks! I know what you mean about stink lines, they can sometimes take from the art. I honestly think they look cute though. I don't really like to discolor the diaper brown like some mess artists do either. It crosses a little too far into the scat territory.

Do you guys know where I should start if I want to learn to draw better anatomy? Any books, resources, or video series?
Overall, I think I can draw decent portraiture, so heads and faces aren't much of a problem. But bodies always leave me bewildered, and frankly I never learned to draw proportions properly with geometric aids, etc.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
