Now this sounds completely far-fetched but I was doing this for a fictional story about a utopian town separated from the rest of society basically and a scientist created something called Dryp-pods. It would basically be clothing made up of nanomachines that would disassemble and eliminate any bodily waste in sort of wardrobe pods that you lay down in. Once you enter the pods there would be a series of laser scanners that would break down the nano machines and they would go about the task of "cleaning you up." The machines would bundle underneath to a tube that would head to an underground processing plant that would convert waste into fuel and the used nano machines would be smelted into the next batch.

Enter the pods, get a full wardrobe change, it gets rid of all waste, even down to sweat and dead skin cells, the nano machines then assemble the appropriate clothing onto you and you are finished

I'm going to be boring and say disposable diapers that break down far faster when disposed of than current ones. Something like within a few years instead of over a lifetime.

For something less overdone, disposable diapers that can be pulled down like pull-ups or underwear. This would be useful for people that want to experience the comfort of diapers, but don't want to go in them. I haven't worn adult diapers, but I would imagine the tabs wearing down after a day or two of taking the diaper off and on whenever you go in the toilet.

On that note, prints that respond to messing as well, like a flower pattern wilting.

So I had the nano machines idea but I wanted to add in a couple more ideas about future diapers and whatnot.

The autochanger is the name of the units that use the nanobots and they basically replace bathrooms with rotary pod units

Also this one is completely out there but something called the sog watch, it's basically a digital readout of the saturation from both ends of your diaper that read like a digital color readout for the front and back using sensors that are in the nanobots in the front and back of the diapers or other clothing

I would say blue for the front and green for the back

If it becomes too full of the substance a flashing purple light will go off until you notice.

- an optional sensory neural interface that lets the wearer feel pressure/temperature and humidity through her diaper as if it were part of her body

All of that combined with an autonomy of a week.

Naturally it'd be something you would find on a blue alien babe or something.

Personally diapers are just about the only thing I wouldn't heavily modify if I had access to sufficiently advanced technology (going by Arthur C. Clarke's definition).

I'd change my own body (reduce my physical age to somewhere in the 6-12 range, introduce a whole bunch of nanotech to allow remote control over everything from kidney function to sexual arousal) and create an AI with sufficient intelligence, benevolence and speed of thought to consensually roleplay with me, playing the part of numerous other characters (given physical form with genetically engineered "zombie" human bodies and copious nanotech and other "magic") simultaneously in extremely kinky scenarios with the only "safeword" being a real-time brain monitor tracking my emotional state.

Diapers are pretty much perfect though. I might make slightly bigger pampers/huggies to fit an older body, make them considerably thicker and hence harder to conceal, or include comprehensive wetness/messiness sensors, but nothing as drastic as most of the suggestions in this thread.

I'd actually classify pull-ups (and training pants in general) as a type of diaper. They are still intended to do pretty much everything a diaper does - just with the added ability to be pulled down quickly.

On the topic of more off-the-wall diaper designs:

A diaper (or pull-up) which automatically sterilizes anything which enters it, then gradually teleports it back inside your body. You wet the diaper, then half an hour later the diaper is mostly dry and you're desperate to pee again. The more fluids you drink, the more pee is in the cycle and hence the more frequently you need to wet yourself. With a sufficiently soggy diaper you could be almost constantly wetting with no ability to stop.

In fact, this idea seems quite suited to training pants, since it would give you a second chance to make it to the potty.

One that I tend to include in fantasies is a diaper with adhesive strips along the leg bands and waist. It would work much like a bandaid with peel-able wax paper strips.This world create a very secure leak-proof seal so you could fill your diaper as much as you want without worrying!

This is stupidly obvious, but there should be diapers covered with different materials (with a layer of plastic underneath in case it's not a waterproof material).

Such as latex, leather, spandex, satin, etc…

What I would love is an ABDL pull up that's pretty much as thick as a diaper, so that you can use the toilet if you want to without having to sacrifice padding.
