Given the sjw's prevalence, I can see how it could have that effect. Special snowflakes have a way of spreading their cancer through their infectious nonsense. I think of self-expression as an important mechanic in orientating the particulars of your desire, something which is demonstrating what you are intending, or not intending, depending upon your aesthetic.
