do you guys know how lag-in-frames and auto-alt-ref work for vpx encoding?
Apparently its supposed to be useful for animation, but I'm honestly confused as to how it affects the filesize or quality.
I thought auto-alt-ref allows the encoder to look at multiple reference frames, while lag-in-frames sets the number of reference frames to look at.
If you have film with looping backgrounds and animations, this would decrease the filesize right?
Apparently, the vp9 encoding guide says it actually increases the quality of the footage:

So yeah. Actually I should probably go to /webm/ for this.

For me, I don't know much about webms. I tend to pick them up if I see pretty good ones along my way.

One of the first webms with sound I ever saved. Back during the GG exodus.

I hate how the bitrate gets bigger and bigger as ffmpeg encodes shit.
It always makes you worry it'll be too big.
Also, if anyone wants a video encode, post it.

/b/ alternatives never work

In the sense that they never replace the original or surpass - or even rival - it in numbers? True.
In the sense that they might not die and instead become a kind of haven for a bunch of anons who don't want to swim in an ocean of cancer all the time? Some do.

we gotta try, right?

If we get a stable userbase I think it'll be good.
I don't mind being the /am/ of /b/.

Most seems to have fucked off back to the cancer breeding grounds because muh PPH.
I'm getting more and more annoyed by the captcha more than anything else. I'm pretty much only going to 8chan for /vr/ and this board now and this bloody nuisance is startin' to get on me nerves.
>I don't mind being the /am/ of /b/.
I remember going to the tea party there but not much beyond that. They split from /a/ because of a disagreement over rules or somesuch and didn't get as much anons as they hoped. Am I missing something?

might try re-encoding this.
