Hey /adv/, I'm pretty scared of men. I feel like it's because I was repeatedly molested as a child and because my father had forced me into his plans and morals until he kicked me out for being lesbian.

How would you suggest I go about being more comfortable around men?

I would suggest that you talk to strangers in public places so that you understand that not every man is going to be like you father.

This sounds like the best route. But how will you do this, OP? If you go to college or something of the sort I would suggest finding a group of people to hang out with. I had a hard time being social a while back, I used online communities related to games i playyed and such to meet people that i could talk to while i played said games with them. Starting off being comfortable around guys should mean you'll need to get a feeling for how they act, so talking to them online is probably the best way to do so, considering starting out by talking to people irl could have some risk to it.

Eh. Talk to men online, but don't disclose you are a girl. Observe them (us), learn what they like and why, what are their desires and fears. Then move that on to IRL, but make sure you don't get too close and give false hopes if you truly don't want to date them.

Men betrayed you while you were vulnerable. Not all men are so weak as to give in to their basest instincts, nor as controlling and harsh as your father. I really do hope you get over it and find a loving, caring boyfriend who will allow your feminine side to shine.
