I need help fellow Nodevs.

Current status: Fucked.

Story Status : Completed.

We're working on two games and have zero experience on actually programming. I'm more of an art person but I got rangled into doing it and I don't mind but yeah.

Project A: A 3D game, and I know fuck all about modeling. I'm teaching myself. Python is installed (have to learn that) , Blender (reading the readmes and manuals atm) , Make Human as well.

The story is done.

The script and what and where everything is located as well.

The map design is done ( on paper) and a mockup was made in axis game maker. ( Insert frowny face here)

Project B; A 2D, story driven platformer, I've done sprites in the past for Mugen (extremely rusty on doing so) and I still have most of the software laying around.

We decided to make this first because we want to get a name and product out there so we can get at least some funding.

Being broke doesn't help and we don't have the cash for licensing fees to use any of the Instant Makers like Daz 3D + Decimator to lower poly counts.

Nor do we have the cash for Unity Pro (fuck you Axis Game Maker for requiring pro).

At the most, we can collectively spare is 40 dollery-dos... A month and we want to make something presentable within the year.

Any suggestions for any free softwares and tutorials that will help ?

first off who gives a shit about unity pro, use Unreal 4, it is a free. It's better than keeping your thumb up your ass.

second, less "reading about stuff" and reading manuals, more doing. Doesn't matter if you read about 3d modelling for 10 years, it takes raw experience and practice to get good. Same with coding.

Personally from where you stand though I wouldn't even bother with coding, I'd just use UE4 and use blueprints. If coding is that important than you need to focus on it primarily, it's not just something you can do a little bit off on the side, which you can kiiiiiinnddd off get away with on modelling and other stuff.

Also stick to one project not 2.

No, do not use Unreal Engine 4.

Eventually, Tencent Holdings receives dividends from your game sales.

Tim Sweeney still owns the company, you know. Otherwise, Epic would've turned into Riot. We all know how bad Tencent is, but if we stopped using things that have a bleak background, we'd be left with very little, wouldn't we? Electronical components with materials mined in awful conditions, using refining methods that pollute to no end, yet we use them constantly, every day.

I still hope someone else buys those stocks from Tencent.

The main problem with Unreal 4 on our end is that we only have one system capable of running it. Since it needs Windows 7 and higher. The work rig ( aka the machine with all our stuff on it) has Windows Vista Professional.

The Windows 7 machine is a laptop that overheats if you sneeze on it.

This is all I could find, I wish I found that infographic that I read a while ago, but this is enough. They basically bought Riot, and have copied a lot of shit. A lot.

You don't need cash. There is no reason you can't complete your project using free* software.

Speaking of your projects, you won't get anything good finished in a year, no chance forget it.

Especially as you have no experience.
