My game development is going well and now I'm putting my sight on the last stage that will be promotion of it. But I'm autistic as fuck so I don't really know how I'll handle this.

>Should I buy/register the domain name for my game website? If so how do I do it or where do I go?

>I have some experience in web design, but any recommendations about templates or something that is better for games websites?

>What about normie places like facebook or twitter? I don't even step in those places but should I got on it, and what kind of approach should I have?

>I'm not even selling my game for money since it's my first project, but I guess I should at least put a pay what you want button or something like that for all the effort it took me, but how do you even do that?

>Any specific recommendation about how to sell your game or get close to your target?

>What about Steam publishing, how hard is to get into greenlight?

For a website i suggest use itch.io, it have a "pay what you want" and you get a custom page and domain.

For shilling i don't have any good tips tho'

I didn't know that website, pretty nice. I'll probably use it.

Damn son, thank you but I'll check it out but little by little, there's too many links there.

>not an instant classic

I still don't understand how The Art of War is a "problematic" book

It's not about his opinion of walking sims, but he's telling that is the power of marketing that sells them not their absence of inherent quality.

>>21426

Art of War is problematic? It sells like water in my country.

>Should I buy/register the domain name for my game website? If so how do I do it or where do I go?

You could, but a wordpress is enough. Make sure to put images and videos of the game. And make them as good as possible.

>I have some experience in web design, but any recommendations about templates or something that is better for games websites?

Find one with easy to read information. Is not about the template, it is about the game.

>What about normie places like facebook or twitter? I don't even step in those places but should I got on it, and what kind of approach should I have?

I don't think everygame need a page on facebook and twitter, but it helps a little bit depending on the game.

>I'm not even selling my game for money since it's my first project, but I guess I should at least put a pay what you want button or something like that for all the effort it took me, but how do you even do that?

Are you talking how to implement that on your site? Or game design? Donate buttons are pretty easy to make via PayPal.

>Any specific recommendation about how to sell your game or get close to your target?

Steam, forums (Game development tool you use) and Steam forums(your game forum) are a good start.

>What about Steam publishing, how hard is to get into greenlight?

Nowadays is pretty easy. There are communities that will help you if you help them to greenlight them. Also, a lot of good people look into greenlight. And various youtubers make series about greenlight games. Even if your game is bad, people will hit the yes button.

It's "upsetting" because it "promotes violence".

Oh god, I have to get chummy with the faggots from Kotaku and Polygon?

Not if you don't want to. Getting friendly with game journalist sites helps, but you don't have to if you don't want to, or you can focus on the sites you approve of. To me, the most important group you can connect with are reviewers and Lets Players (cancerous as they are). If you can get someone like Yahtzee or the Game Grumps to play your game, you're looking at good money coming your way.

Note that I don't necessarily support either of those options, I'm just giving you examples of sources of exposure you should aim for.
