I spent the past year of my life learning to make music in FamiTracker.

I suppose next I should learn to create pixel art. If it takes me another year to learn that, so be it. What's a good pixel art editor to use for Linux? What are some resources to read and learn about pixel art?

For famitracker, there's a whole wiki and forum for you to post your songs and get them rated / criticized. Does some equivalent exist for pixel art?

Gimp.

I've heard http://pixeljoint.com mentioned a few times. A lot of know how but autistically purist in what you may use to generate pixel art, or so I heard. If you want to actually use what you make in a game you should take their advice, but with a grain of salt.

You could try asesprite you have to compile it otherwise for a prebuilt executable it will cost 10$

Grafx2 is brilliant.

Krita is also good.

MSPaint runs really well under Wine.

Also Gimp is fine, just change it to use a Photoshop-esq theme:

Before you must pixelshit, you must drawshit competently. Pixelshitting will come naturally once you're good enough at drawing normally.
