Don't show everything or else the player has nothing new to discover. It's hard to say with no idea what the game is like though. Don't make it too long, ideally 1-2 minutes.

OBS is good for recording in general, and I think lightworks is a decent free video editor?

Making a trailer is not complicated, especially if it is for a simple game, would just need some creativity and pirate sony vegas
