ok guys, latino here.

I'm a 1MA and even if my skills are at diferent levels, I do care about improving, so they will get good eventually.

But there's something that bothers me.

I also care about the use of the language (writing).

I do care about writing stories and dialogs.

But I have a problem.

as I said, spanish is my native language and I would love to even use basic poethry in my game story mode.

Will I get into trouble if I only translate the easy bits into english like the GUI but kept the spanish heavy stuff like dialogs and such in my game and upload it to steam that way?

I feel translating the heavy stuff will undermine my purpose of trying to do complex stuff.

Also, I'm tired of hearing: I would care about spanish but there's no games on it.

depends, what genre is the game?

If it's action, no one will really care.

I don't think it's a matter of rpg vs other genres.

Even action game dialogs could have good quality writing.

Even simple phrases could be well written (I think).

Get ready to shell out some money for a translator than. Luckily Spanish and English are not too distant (e.g. English v. gloriousu nippon). There are a lot of experience people who have translated English media to Spanish and vice versa. The most challenging thing if finding someone who knows not how to just translate the words, but also the emotion and feeling.

The best thing you can do right now is to work on your game in your native tongue. And when you're ready to release, find one of these persons.

I suggest you let Paco decapitate you since your subhuman spic brain doesn't have any good ideas

Ok. So are you soliciting a translator or what? There might be a market for Vanessa in Spanish though. I suggest not translating anything at all if your aim is a game in Spanish. It's like being gay and only fuck pussy.

>Latino too here btw

"Vanessa" I meant games.

If the writing is important what's the point in translating gui stuff?

Also you should probably be asking steam instead of us.

Just go on reddit and find someone to translate your game. Someone will do it for free.

Well, sometimes you can get away with poor writing. Also, I think in most cases, poor translation is better than no translation at all. Just find someone to help you with translation and add a English/Spanish language switch to options.

What I did for my visual novel OP was translate it all myself (that's a lot of work specially for a visual novel, but can't be helped), then get people to edit it. If you can pay them then even better.

I know that a translated text by a no-native will never be as good as expected, but you can always at least get close to what you want, then get native people edit it. That way you don't have to pay for professional translators in case you don't have the budget to pay for one, but at the same time get good enough text. My editor in this case was a native canadian girl that was studying english in the university so it was pretty helpful and also a good experience for her to put in her CV as proofreader and editor.

Of course I paid her, but it was cheaper that any translator out there so it was worth.
