Most of the interaction would be through text descriptions and choosing stuff using dialog trees and rpg menues.

Are gamers now too casual for this?

Will there be people interested and form a niche fanbase like DF?

That's kind of dumb question because it contains the answer (DF). Since you're not going to have any visuals you'll have to make up with interesting mechanics or good writing though.

Well, I mean, A Dark Room got away without having any graphics for the first like half hour, and later graphics are minimal at best. A Dark Room seems to be getting praise from people, so there's that.

find an artist to work with you. A game need to be playable to be played.

you'll eventually have hardcore player, but first, set up a playable game, no matter casual or not.
