Welcome to AGDG, have you ever made a game?

C++ Dev here.

I will trade my C++ devering for a cool / interesting / what I deem worthwhile project. All I ask for in return in credits in the game somewhere (obviously) and also a legally binding agreement to sharing profits (if there's ever any profit made); basically I just want to make sure that if we stumble onto Minecraft 2 that I get a cut.

Also I can code in Javascript and possibly other languages if you don't mind a programmer who's not used to the language of choice (like a carpenter who's used to working with Oak being asked to work with Pine).

Oh and like, I have never completed a game before, so that doesn't bode well.

I've never completed because I always bite off more than I can chew. Perhaps a smaller idea with a team, or just a designer/art guy would make it happen.

I'm experienced in C++ & OpenGL.

Anon, forcing yourself to work with a partner/team may add extra motivation for a short period of time but it will quickly burn out. You should really try to make a short, shitty platformer or something by yourself before making a stranger's project dependent on your programming abilities.

>no portfolio or anything

Fuck off Goldstein, go look for work somewhere else.

You should really get on that. Why would anyone hire you to help with their game if you can't prove that you will be any help?

Rather, share your secrets to C++. I'm trying to learn it but so far the "C++ for dummies" book isn't cutting it for me (Lackluster explanations beyond the fundamentals).

Like, I can code a Hello World program with Dev-C++ but can't do a fizzbuzz.

Should mention this is my first time ever learning a programming language.

If you can't write fizzbuzz in C++ then you probably can't write it in any other imperative language. You have to learn how to express your thoughts on paper first.

Yo, OP, if you're still around; I have a smallish project I'm working on where my coder just bailed on me. You have somewhere I can contact you like Steam or some shit?

Not him but I didn't know this game but I hope he can do more than that. But yeah after looking it up I couldn't help but create it..

Took me around 2 minutes.

>C++ for dummies

there's your problem. I tried shit books like that years ago and gave up because they fucking suck. Read some good books - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/388242/the-definitive-c-book-guide-and-list

but more importantly make sure you do something practical with every single thing you read, or you won't really learn it. Take a course or some shit.

>what I deem worthwhile

Where's your portfolio? I wouldn't want somebody who has never finished a working project on my team.
