I know google is hard n' stuff and coming up with phrases to search may put too much strain on your softboiled egg-like cranium, but at least try to search the catalog before starting a thread, m'kay? M'kay.

Okay, since we got that out of the way, here's a breakdown of how tu makez an star sheeb. A 3D, virchuel, deejeetel zdar'shee consists of two components - a hard vinyl model and overlapping multilayer synthetic wool textures. First you build the model from parts you bought at the local hardware store (use nontoxic glue so you don't kill yourself when you end up eating half of it), then crotchet a nice, snug texture for it, so miniature Jean-Luc Picard doesn't freeze in the vacuum of spehs'.

For this advanced pipeline you will need as fallows:

-A generalist 3D graphics program (Blender/Maya/3ds Max).

That's it, really. You can also use sculpting softwares and some texture painting ones to purdy it up in the texture department (you can convert - "bake" - small details like scratches on the model into a texture). 3D Coat/Zbrush, Photoshit/Substance Painter, stuff like that.

You need to learn the basics of the program you intend to use, then do some extra tutorials on box modeling (alternatively hard surface sculpting to turn your lukewarm turd sculpt into a steel-like hard spehs' benis). After this you should pretty much have an idea what do do.

Don't buy anything (untill you're ready to monetize), you can get everything for free one way or another. Look up cgpeers.

my mistake.

i forgot to mention that i wasn't looking for the hard way. i was looking for a dead easy program that makes passable ships in almost zero time.

for example, if you look for charater creator on google you can find 2 or 3 good programs that makes 2d and 3d model without having to boder with 3d modelling.

if you look for mountains generator you can find world machine for free.

that's not the case for star ships.

i was hoping for some obscure program,something like a random star ship generator, since i already have programs for skybox, planets and characters. Ships are the only thing missing

I had no previous knowledge of any such program, so I googled it. Apparently "procedural spaceship generator" is a thing.

However you most likely won't be able to do anything with the ships if you don't know how to manipulate a 3D model.

in part because i have shitty taste regarding what is good looking and what is bad looking. and in part just because i don't like it very much.

space settings usually solve problems, since half of the stuff is just a sphere, but sometimes you need something more complex. this is the case.

What do you want this for anyway? It's not like crapping out several dozens vague metal turds is a significant effort. Unless you want your game to have 100s of them per civilization I see no point.

If you're afraid of the design aspect you can ask some drawfag to do those black concept contours for you.

I don't know how if and how I will use them. I was looking for handy softwares before starting the project. Now I know that 100 ships for race are not possible and I will never look in the practical implementation of such system. I'll maybe use sprites instead. I don't know yet.

There are plenty of other solutions.

Take a low poly spaceship and stick as many tiny, useless parts on it as you can.

Blender if you wanna make them from scratch

Also if you want hundreds of different types of them, there's technically no reason you can't just make procedural parts (like 5 engines, 5 hulls, 5 cockpits, 5 wings.. there's a shitload right there and it's not THAT huge an investment if you keep it low poly. The learning to model is the real investment here, but you can get a modeller fag)

Then just UE4 or something and combine the parts randomly or based on a seed. Super easy once you have the models
