Nodev here, looking to peddle my mediocre skills for free to get my name out there as a vocal artist.

I have shitty equipment, only mics on a cam, or headset. No experience in audio editing, either.

But here's a sample anyways.

I know it's a long as fuck shot, but you gotta start somewhere, right?

If you like this voice, or want me to try another, lemme know. I need practice.

Your voice is awesome, I can easily see that being put to use.
You just need a better mic of course.

This I am aware of.
I also need to get a new Graphics card, as it generates a fuckload of background noise with the fan blowing super high.

Thing is I'm a fucking poorfag right now.

Almost considered starting an indiegogo thing so I could get a somewhat decent mic and all the other shit I need, but I imagine "Give money for stuff plox" funds rarely go over well.

Good voice but too much vocal fry.

Yeah, I'm trying to get a new mic soon.

Like 3 of my family members have their own bands, so I was gonna ask them if they could lend me any old recording equipment.

Pretty neat voice you've got man, very very nice. There are definitely some characters I have in mind I could see you voicing (if I were ever able to get a game made, though there are people out there that do radioplays for their stuff instead). But yeah just need a better mic, and need to turn the volume up on your mic so I don't have to chuck up the volume to hear you.

If you're looking to get yourself a decent mic, check out Sweetwater's website or their Facebook page. Sweetwater is where I got my last mic for voice related things and their customer service was really helpful. If you find a mic that seems affordable and appealing for the sort of stuff you're interested in doing, check out some Amazon reviews for a mic you're considering.

Like I said your voice is definitely nice and I'd definitely use you so getting yourself a mic wouldn't be a bad investment if you ever got around to it. There are definitely indie developers out there that also could use a voice like yours either for narration or characters, more RPGs out there could at least use light amounts of voice acting for different things.

One thing I'd consider having you do for me though are voices for a voice mod for something like Baldur's Gate, since at least with the Enhanced Edition you can utilize custom voice sets for your character and a little variety in the voice sets would be nice.

9b0832 No.7984

Check out www.fiverr.com it's a good place to sell voice acting. Once you fix the mic up anyway, already been mentioned and you're aware. Could make some money and get your name out there

On that note, want to be a space pirate OP? starreaperstudios@gmail.com if so

wat

Vocal fry is a property of the voice, not its recording.

Give me a couple lines and I can do some reads on my shitty mic.

Hey there voice dude. Not sure if you still lurk this board but do you have an email for where someone could get in contact with you?

2e75f6 No.10811

Could try getting one of those Blue Yeti mics. It's cheap and has a mode where you can ignore sound coming from the opposite direction.

Can you say

"Game Over"

In a deep spoopy voice?

c63cda No.12058

Not OP, but I'll leave this here. About to re-record with my Yeti.

Professional who is always looking for work, I've done 3 commercials, 1 licensed cartoon, and recorded for a game in progress, as well as a few short films.

Demo is at bottom. Everything after commercial sample is for fun. Raw recordings were on Blue Snowball; demo that will be recorded tomorrow, along with some current recordings, are all on a Blue Yeti (significant difference).

If you don't have dough, it's fine, as we can work something out. However, please be serious about your game and have something to show (i.e. not in conceptual phase).

I say professional, just not famous yet. But for all those aspiring:

Follow Dee Bradley Baker's blog religiously. Go do some plays and live acting to find out if you can actually act, and then start whoring yourself out for free. I only list my professional stuff, but doing things for fun is always great way to build experience and rapport, and there's usually something you can get out of it.

Always remember, Steve Blum records Toonami for free ;) don't be a Jew.

Also, consider moving to:

>L.A.

>Texas, specifically Austin, Dallas, or Fort Worth
>Atlanta

A lot of it is online as well.

OP here

Thanks for the tips, mang.
I already live in (Or rather, near) Dallas.
What is there that I should be looking at?

Hey back again. You should look for radio spots, theatre, anything to do with acting.

Why would you do live acting when you want to do VA?

Because you will not only gain valuable experience and grow, and possibly money, it most importantly networking. Which leads to jobs :)

Don't let anyone tell you that it's impossible or that you shouldn't do it.

Peace nigger.

Hey there OP. Any chance you could give us a way to contact you? I tried searching for that twitter username you mentioned in one of the clips but I'm not sure if I'm finding the right guy. Maybe a direct link to your twitter or some sort of throwaway email I could contact?

This is some good advice. I might think about paying you for something to voice sometime too.

Voice Acting Alliance has a pretty interesting community and occasionally some good job opportunities can come of things posted there. Though networking and finding potential job listings through other venues will benefit you probably more in the long run if it's something you're serious about. Places like Voice Acting Alliance mainly serve as a solid starting point and a neat place for discussion among the aspiring, amateurs, or semi-pros.

Machinima used to be one way to get involved with some voice acting ventures (and still is I suppose), though that sort of stuff doesn't seem anywhere near as prominent as it used to be. Some people move on from stuff or discontinue voicing for certain types of things, or discontinue with VA altogether. Just depends on what your interests are and where you want to take your talents

If there's one thing I myself could recommend, having a solid diet and staying hydrated with the water you need will help improve your performance and allow you to think more clearly when critiquing your own performance. If you feel like crap when recording or are constantly loaded on something like caffeine it'll effect your ability and just make you feel less motivated sometimes to get up and do it. Green apples I think help too to clear the flem and such in your throat, plus they taste pretty good too.

Sure. I'm at @04Leonhardt

Best place to reach me would actually be on FunnyJunk since I spend most of my time there.

I'll post when I buy a proper microphone. Am already in professional training. Got anything you can already hint at (assuming you have a project running)?

Invite people from /v/ and /tg/ into VA threads on the board, I imagine you'd get a good amount of people.

Here is the first clip of my voice that I have posted.
I will be posting more of myself reading copypastas.

Any suggestions? I got my mic setup all nice.

>I'll post when I buy a proper microphone

Same. I love playing with my voice, and I can do several voices well. However, I do not own a real mic, but rather, a cheap $30 headset. I will be willing to work for free, too, once I get a real mic.

>Am already in professional training

I wish I could say the same. ;_;

I reccomend at least a Yeti Blue.
An XLR mic with a 50 bux preamp unit is the best, but a Yeti Blue is a quality mic.

I saw one youtuber bashing them, but he didn't seem to have any idea what he was talking about. :p

B-bump. It's been a week. Like I said, I don't have much money, and I really want to donate my voice, but my mic isn't good quality.

I saved up for 3 weeks and was able to get a Yeti at Fry's for like 140 bucks.

You gotta save up m8

Also new recordings incoming

9865b5 No.14933

The yeti is fine unless you need a shockmount. In that case, get an XLR with a preamp.
The yeti is great for beginners, but you won't see pro youtubers using them.

Also, it's competely retarded to sage a post when you're asking a question. I didn't see it for a week because you saged.

e5288d No.22874

Blue snowball or Samson Go Mic

Go any cheaper and you are probably going to get shit audio.

Personally, I would say save up for a nice mic and do my research to find out the best thing for me. Some people use a shotgun mic for their voice work, and as long as you aren't in an room that will echo it should be fine.

A cardioid mic, in particular a large diaphragm condenser mic, is prime for doing voice work and will work better in small rooms than a shotgun mic.But of coarse when you get into higher quality mics you are going to have to get a preamp, XLR to USB converter, mount, pop filter (which can be made easy enough), and all of this add up fast. If you just want something cheep and you want it now, get one of the two USB mics I mentioned above.

8b9a83 No.24041

>>12058

>Yeti

Don't fucking tell me you've gotten work with that thing.

I'm not questioning your ability, but no matter how capable you might be, that's no excuse to show up to work in boxer shorts. Invest in an XLR microphone, an Audio Technica AT2020 is the best you can get for 100~ if you're a poorfag.

d6813b No.25086

Aspiring voice actor here. I am willing to do it 4free, but I want my name (or nickname) listed as a voice actor in your credits, if you have credits. If not, a sidenote on wherever you put release notes is fine.

Pretty much I'm offering myself for nothing. I did not put any recordings of myself up because I can do a lot of different voices, but I tweak them slightly.

If you're interested, give me a sentence to read and say what your preferred kind of voice would be, and we can see if you like my recordings.

Thanks friends.
