Remember folks!

There is no IAN here, no CalBear and no other mods.

I have nothing against them, actually.

However, remember that you can say whatever you want here and you will never be punished.

Pic unrelated, because how could it be.

Figures tho' that it would become a place where people would soapbox re: mods.

So what's going on anyways?

(On further check, apparently this is more of a "https that isn't actually secure" thing. Changing to http worked on Iceweasel; might even work on another browser.)

I believe he posted that /pol/ maymay with the religion chart that has Catholicism as the One, Truly, Holy, and Apostolic Church, Orthodox is listed as absolute bro-tier, etc. Most have probably seen it before. Ian, being the hippy jew he is, banned him permanently for >muh bigotry and people got pissed and were demanding his unban, which Ian "the Cuck" reversed.

 No.415

>>414

That's incredible that Ian actually reversed anything. Why didn't he just post a huge bigoted rant about how everybody but him just doesn't understand the hidden meaning underneath, as proven by his extensive life experience and/or REAL SCIENCE that he never sources?

 No.420

Soverihn is kind of a whiny little bitch, but he didn't deserve to be banned for that whiny little bitchery.

And Catholicism sucks ass.

None, they're all hippy liberal gays. Ian is a No-Gunz Muhsoggyknees jew who bans anyone he disagrees with, even if what they're saying is protected within the rules.

 No.416

They're all shit. Ian hands out unwarned permabans for disagreeing with him - chat's basically "let's see who opposes me so I can ban them" at this point. Calbear locks perfectly good old threads for necromancy because god forbid we add new content to an old conversation.

Anyone who won't quit that mod team in disgust is complicit, can't wait to see that shithole go the way of livejournal and NeoGAF. A shame it still hosts a couple good TLs.

 No.417

>>413 wait what??

IMHO, Calbear is AH.com's Ded Krapiva, TDM is AH.com's GiMCD, BKW is AH.com's, I dunno, Glucharina, and Ian is AH.com's Edward Chernenko.

I definitely wouldn't call any of them "hippy", "liberal", or, except in the classic sense, "gay", but I don't particularly like either of them (except maybe TDM, whom I didn't have much contact with).

My favorite AH.com mod is Doctor What, incidentally.

I personally think that Gregorovich is a completely realistic South Slavic last name, but that character's currently presumed first name of Mykew doesn't seem to make any sense (I highly suspect that the guys it comes from made it up on the spot without consulting Rowling).
With a last name like that, the guy probably has a South Slavic first name as well - something like, I dunno, Dragomir.

Yeah. The exchange rates don't seem to make much sense either.

There are several different fan explanation for the exchange rate disparity; perhaps the most popular versions (in no particular order) are "it was last adjusted a century ago" (after all, a galleon is about the size of a quintuple sovereign), "it was set by the Ministry to mess with the goblins" (I don't really get that one), and "the galleons aren't actually made of gold" (surprisingly uncommon for its obviousness).
[And then some fics say that it's only 5 pounds/galleon when you're buying pounds - while in the other direction, the exchange rate is significantly higher. And others just ignore the canon evidence in favor of the known exchange rate figures and directly give a rate of 50 pounds/galleon or similar.]

In my still-planned SI fic, I intend to go with the "last adjusted a century ago" version, because it results in crazy stuff when interacting with Russian currency. (It also makes an awful lot of sense considering what we know of wizarding society.)

In the first book it says something like "Harry didn't need to know how many galleons were in a pound…"

"…to know that he was holding more money that he ever had - more even than Dudley ever had."
Essentially, Harry is heavily underestimating the actual value of the galleon, but he just got enough of them that even with such an underestimation it still comes up to "an awful lot of money".

 No.341

As far as I can tell, /ahist/s thoughts on a possible WW3 are probably something like this:

1. Russia isn't giving up either Crimea or Sevastopol
2. 2016 election is down to Biden vs. Hillary
3. 2018 election is Putin vs. a lot of old losers
4. China need not democracy (need not throwing banana)
5. North Korea is Best Korea
6. North Dakota is Best Dakota
8. Why the triangular heck is /ahist/s interface in Portuguese? Makes no sense at all
9. That woman on the pic looks like a memetic Odessite
10. Ruble's falling down, which is probably good for the Russian economy
11. We missed the chance for WW3 back in the 1980s
12. Did you notice there's no point 7?

 No.342

I assume the military tries to make me go back.

 No.343

Anyway

China and Taiwan+Japan get into a small border skirmish that injures 2 over Senkukau Islands. The situation never escalates there but it sets off a chain reaction as the People's Liberation Army Navy goes on high alert while on exercises near Shanghai. A Chinese sub sinks what they think is an attacking Japanese sub but is actually a North Korean sub that is attacking what they think is a Japanese sub. The North Koreans think the South Koreans sank it and declare war, attacking anything in the area. The Chinese subs figure out they're being attacked by the North Koreans and immediately sink their other sub in the area.

North Korea declares war on China, Japan and South Korea and immediately starts shelling Seoul and US/SK military installations. For the first 12 hours, several rockets hit civilian and military targets and fire is lobbed across the DMZ. Within 96 hours most of their artillery are destroyed and the Allies have control of the DMZ. There are several downed aircraft as Allies bomb the North Korean rocket sites.

Nobody ever figures out which side destroyed the Bridge of No Return, but both claim it. There are many thousands of casualties in South Korean cities that were shelled and billions of dollars worth of damage. There are comparable casualties in North Korean military locations.

Within 1 week the leadership party is in hiding, the US, South Korean and Japanese and Chinese governments have worked out their issues and are all working to destroy artillery and anti-air batteries to stop the onslaught and gain complete control of the air. For months, sporadic anti-aircraft and indirect fire have plagued Allied forces and South Korean border towns.

 No.344

13 days later, a nuclear armed rocket hits Yongsan Garrison as a submarine reaches shore in southern Japan and detonates its weapon on shore at Nagasaki, both acts orchestrated by the Kim regime who had such insane measures in place in case of the collapse of their government. A second missile is launched at China, but experiences failure immediately after becoming airborne and detonates just outside a North Korean town on their West shore. The US decides to nix their nuclear response in light of this but proceeds to increase the bombing campaign along with the other Allies as Chinese ground troops pour over the border.

ISIS declares this to be some kind of stupid apocalyptic bullshit sign and sets off a dirty bomb they'd been holding onto in Jerusalem. Dicks. In response Israel bombs an ISIS headquarters in western Iraq and another in Syria and bombs every known ISIS held town with conventional rockets. The world looks on in horror. At the same time, ISIS attacks across Iraq, Syria, Kurdistan, Lebanon, Chechnya, and Turkey are launched in what is come to be known as the ISIS Ted Offensive. Their clandestine nature and fanatical attacks make them difficult to suppress. Similar attacks by groups ranging from sympathetic to deeply involved are launched in Yemen, Egypt, Libya, Palestine, and Gaza, and even by Islamist militant groups in Nigeria. Islamic protests are launched, some affiliated in lesser-weaponized groups in Europe and Southeast Asia/Oceania. Demonstrations range in size from a few dozen members to several thousand depending on the country. In bottles and bricks are launched and in most several protesters are arrested and/or beaten.

Hardliners in Pakistan for some reason demand a nuclear response against Israel bombing Muslims and they devolve into a civil uprising and civil war within a week. Rogues gain control of the nuclear weapons, and while many are stolen, many are launched at their targets indiscriminately. 6 MRBM Shaheen-III missiles are launched at targets in Israel including Tel Aviv, Nazareth, and Elat. Only 3 of the missiles reached their targets, and 2 were shot by anti-missile defense. The 3rd 20 kt weapon slams into the northern coast of the Gulf of Aqaba, killing thousands in both Eilat in Israel and Aqaba in Jordan.

Another 9 Pakistani missiles were launched at targets in Jammu and Kashmir and into India, including 4 at New Delhi. Indian missile defense took down 6 of them. The 2 in Jammu and Kashmir and 1 near New Delhi successfully breach the missile defense. Srinagar and Jammu are destroyed, and a large portion of western New Delhi lies in ruin. Over 200,000 lives are lost in these insane attacks. Both Israel's and India's nuclear responses devastate Pakistan. Peshawar, Islamabad, and Abbottabad are each hit by a weapon from both countries, Islamabad being hit by a third from India on top of it. Millions die.

Fucking Russia takes this as an opportunity to make a series of false flag attacks on border towns in Ukraine and Georgia, and proceed to invade both. They immediately occupy Abkhazia and South Ossetia and capture strategic locations in Georgia. They are prepared to annex Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, Mykolayiv, and Odessa, and possibly Transnistria. Serendipitously, Kazhakstan's and Belarus's new governments take this time to federalize with Russia in the CIS union. Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are having votes in the coming months whether to join. Tensions in Eastern Europe skyrocket as the EU votes to sanction Russia.

 No.261

Hey there.

If you don't mind me asking, why did you try to get around the kick by making a sock? You've been kicked before and you'd just tried to quit, so it doesn't make much sense,

 No.262

Hi AYC, been wondering what happened.

I remember you being a good poster, shame you're no longer among us mortals.

 No.263

So what happened was, after my voluntary ban, I briefly considered creating a sockpuppet account so I could read the read-only part of the forums. I clicked the "register" button, thought better of it, and backed off, but apparently that was enough to make it seem like I registered a puppet. At that point I said "fuck it" and made an actual sockpuppet to see if I could get away with it. I didn't.

Not the smartest move.

 No.275

That's weird. Everyone assumed that you had created a sockpuppet to make the ban "permanent" so to speak, so you wouldn't be tempted to come back.

I hope your appeal works. I miss you.

 No.323

Welcome back to the actual forum!

It's Alice's Birthday, a Russian traditionally animated children's science fiction film, directed by Sergey Seryogin and produced by Master-film studio. The film is based on a novella of the same name by Kir Bulychov about Alisa (Alice) Selezneva, a teenage girl from the future. It is a spiritual successor to 1981 animated film The Mystery of the Third Planet, from which it draws a heavy influence.

 No.322

Technically, it's the original novella, because, to be honest, the film's characters look a bit too ugly.
But yeah, this basically.
