Have you taken the brown pill yet, mateys?

it's a tough pill to swallow! The brown pill was founded in 1999 by Sir Reginald Brownpill, who presents and narrates the attached video.

Forget red and blue pills, brown pills are the way of the future.

Video related. Please leave your questions, comments, and concerns below about this radical new paradigm of thinking!

Swallow the brown pill today! Red pills are for fedora fucking wearing faggots, blue pills are for the ignorant masses. Ignore the other le epin /pol/ maymays, this one is the readl deal.357548548458458

I can't believe I never heard of this album until this week. Probably because I don't listen to Americana, really, but this album is A+ please listen to it if you haven't

Sorry if I'm samefagging a lot, I get really excited about finding new music

I enjoyed this more than I expected to. I mostly listened to it for the cover art but it's very pleasant to listen to with interesting textures for a post-rock/ambient sorta album, would cuddle my waifu to this.

I'm pissed off because this album is actually good tbqh. A Triptych might be the most interesting thing I've heard all year, although I'm not sure if it counts as something that is "new" because it was originally released as a single two years ago. I'm mostly angry because I really don't want to shell out $50 for a CD but the more I listen to this, the more I'm tempted because while A Triptych is my favorite, the whole album is good in its own right.

I forgot how good this album is.

Been lazy posting here, sorry about that.

Anyways I found the album of the summer right as summer is ending. The entire album is extremely listenable and there are a few songs that would be definite radio hits if this band was popular. It's not extremely remarkable in any way but I keep on coming back to it.

Post song lyrics out of context

"Rainbow chains aint shit but long division"

"up the fucking ass"

My dude. Anyway on topic:

"I was in this prematurely air-conditioned supermarket and there were all these aisles. And there were these bathing caps that you could buy that had these kind of Fourth-of-July plumes on them that were red and yellow and blue. And I wasn't tempted to buy one, but I was reminded of the fact that I had been avoiding the beach."

To be fair it doesn't make a lot more sense in context

January sleeping standing up

Februrary literally discussed it

March is April’s manic baby’s name

May i had forgot what i was saying

June in the jacket with her hands on the back of it

The people on the left are not impressed

And the people on the right identity crisis

All of a sudden i can’t remember nothing

But she said the look on my face was insane

I’m fully with the sustain

Like the princess’s brain

Not to be confused in the shade

But ain't that one and the same

I’m fully with the sustain

Ding by ding can you dig my dong

It may come short but it might come long

Five million christians on a ride towards us

Oh, I slaughtered the bunch with one single hit (with my spear)

Five million women so alone in the night

Oh, I had them all satisfied profusely (every night by myself)

Mah nigga

Think of a genre of music you enjoy a lot, or better yet a sub-genre if you're patrician enough to like specific sub-genres. Got one? Good. You now have to show one, AND PRECISELY ONE, song that best encapsulates what you love about that particular genre/sub-genre Embed related. The genre/sub-genre in question is chillwave

the only genre I have a large focus on is pretty much hip hop but I'll choose the sub genre of witchhop can't embed cause its not on youtube

I could do a few but I'll do one that's really easy to start. Pardon my autism

Minimalism (or, as this composer prefers his work to be called, music with repetitive structures). It's charming, magical, and intellectually stimulating. It's one of those songs that you can put on in the background while doing other things to improve your performance, or you could easily focus on it for the duration and dissect the structure in your head (if you're a faggot like me who likes doing that). I first heard this half a lifetime ago and it still effects me just as much as it did then. I wish I could buy a score because I'd love to see the composition in front of me and follow along instead of trying to transcribe it in my head.

This Noenum track perfectly encapsulates why I love Black Metal. It's dark, has a rich atmosphere, every note is dripping with emotion, and it has a sense of mysticism and "the unknown."

Really, Noenum is a criminally underapreciated band as a whole. The fact that they have no social media or anything like that doesn't help. Hell, who's to say that they're even still together?

Thanks for posting that, I'm definitely checking their other stuff out.

Starting off with my favorite modern composer. Why is Berg so good?

Watching this live was absolutely mindblowing. I was transfixed, I couldn't leave my seat for anything during the ~5 hour duration. Probably the best night of my life. I hope I can see it again before I die although chances that it'll be performed again, let alone toured to a city within a distance I'd be willing to travel, are pretty slim. A shame, but at least I got to see it even once.

Schubert is also very charming. I enjoy listening to his Lieder when I want something lighter to listen to.

Minimalism is so beautiful, incredibly complex and incredibly simple at the same time. The pianist did a fantastic job with this piece as well; I appreciate that he paid attention to John Adams' notations and didn't make it more than it was.

Is there any band who's newer albums are different from their previous and everyone usually hates on it but you don't see anything wrong with this shift in style?

Boris's newer albums are still great even if most people think its too Pop/Anime opening sounding. They aren't as great as some of the older albums but are still solid enjoyable albums i listen to just as much.

File: 1440004390601.jpg (52.66 KB, 450x450, 1:1, transgender dysphoria blue….jpg)

Yeah, that really annoys me in general. Bands who just do the same thing over and over again are boring as hell. I liked Attention Please and Heavy Rocks, there's nothing wrong with them and they had some really good songs, even if they're not like Feedbacker or Flood.

The example that comes to mind is Against Me! Admittedly New Wave and White Crosses are mediocre with the exception of a few tracks on each album, but they're not BAD (and honestly Black Crosses is one of my favorite releases by them). People who diss this album while liking old Against Me! I don't understand though. With the exception of one or two tracks, it sounds like Searching for a Former Clarity, which in my opinion was the height of what they were doing musically (even though in retrospect some of the lyrics were hokey) and this has some of their best lyrics since their Crime EP. I used to be a much bigger fan of the band than I am now but people who are big fans who say that LJG is a sell-out and only transitioned for the publicity stunt pissed me off; it's pretty clear that this is the most real she's been in a while.

Cool, looking forward to it. Posting mine just because, limited myself to one album per artist so a few of my favorite artists/composers wouldn't over-saturate the chart. I can never settle on this, I always end up changing things every few months. Still fun though!

I didn't know how to make it look fancy

Talk about upcoming releases that you're looking forward to.

I've got three albums preordered right now.

First is Abyss by Chelsea Wolfe, out this Friday. I'm really looking forward to this one. All of the songs I've heard off of it are great, really moody and dark. Some of it almost gives off a doom vibe. Video related.

Next is Ghost's Meliora, out August 21. Everything I've heard so far off this one sounds a lot heavier than their last release, Infestissumam, which makes me kind of excited. Based on what I've heard from interviews, it will actually have some heavy prog rock elements, which sounds fucking great.

And finally I've preordered The Expanding Flower Planet, the full length debut of Deradoorian. This one is kind of a mystery to me. I've never heard anything Angel Deradoorian has done before this, but the songs I've heard off this one sound really neat and psychedelic. They piqued my interest enough to make me preorder the record, so hopefully it pays off.

Also, here's one of the songs off the Deradoorian album. Neat stuff very colorful. Can't wait to hear the rest.

Guys, I figured out why music is the ultimate hobby.

Basically, it's all to do with the breadth of already existing material, and the ease of creating and spreading new stuff. It wouldn't matter tomorrow if all of the mainstream artists suddenly turned into SJW tools, because who even listens to the radio anymore? Even pop kiddies go back in time to whatever decade takes their fancy and circlejerk about being born in the wrong generation. Meanwhile the neckbeards like us, /mu/, just continue jerking about our Death Grips and such, who are too outside the public attention to be affected.

Let's say the SJW boogieman manages to affect every currently active artist, such that all the new material being produced by them is now SJ propaganda. Who cares? We still have an enormous back catalog to browse, there already exists more music than anyone could ever listen to in a lifetime. PLUS more new artists start making music every day. Hell, even I could grab a guitar and strum out a few chords and make the next ITAOTS. Especially in today's world of smartphones with HD cameras and decent recording tools, there's no way they can affect all of music like they have all of TV and vidya.

Take pride /mu/tants, our hobby is safe.

Yeah, I remember people were talking about "metal-gate" for like two days. Musicians don't tolerate censorship. Hell, there are fucking black metal bands, playing secretly, in Saudi Arabia.
