Devices, Operating Systems and Intended Uses
So my fellow Gentoos, what operating systems do you run on all your devices? Be sure to include everything that can count as a computing device (desktop, laptop, smartphones, tablets, etc.) and leave out single-purpose devices like gaming consoles and microwaves. If your system is custom made (read: not prebuilt) then be sure to include your actual specs. With that said, here is what I have:
>prebuilt Dell desktop (yes, I know) with an Intel Core i5-4460 3.2 GHz CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 1TB HDD that runs off of a 64bit version of Windows 10 with all the botnet, including telemetry and Windows Defender, removed or permanently turned off.
Will be used for gaming, audio/video editing and watching videos of all kinds, offline of otherwise.
>Toshiba Satellite C50 running off of a 64bit version of Mint with Cinnamon desktop.
Still learning the ropes on this one and how many things I use this for instead of my windows machine is for the future to decide. Either way, it runs way better than it did previously with W7.
>Samsung Galaxy S4
Used for checking my emails, listening to music/podcasts, looking things up online and looking at pictures of my waifu when I'm feeling down, all when I'm away from home of course. Also used for flip phone related things like making calls, texting, taking pictures, etc.
>Nook HD, 8GB version
Used for reading manga, looking at stuff online when I'm too lazy to leave the bed, and reading doujins on exhentai
None of those other than the Galaxy were my first choice. Sometimes you just have to make the best of what you haveā¦
