I typically don't read ongoing manga for a few reasons
>there's no telling how long it will take for the newest translation to come out, while with anime you're guaranteed a new episode on a weekly basis and Visual Novels are typically not released until they're done with a few exceptions
>the translation scene for manga in general is pretty cancerous with stuff like reddit-tier unfunny jokes in the TL notes, big obnoxious watermarks everywhere as if you have the right to complain about people distributing your NON-COPYRIGHTED TRANSLATION THAT YOU HAVE DISTRIBUTED ILLEGALLY, and actually telling people they aren't allowed to do their own translation on a manga (even if their translation is worse/lazy or has completely died) because they were there first
>your favorite manga could get cancelled unexpectedly while you've been waiting months for a new volume to come out
My ranking for weaboo stuff, not including vidya, goes Visual Novels>Anime>Manga>Light Novels. That said, I've been following Spirit Circle and Denki-gai no Honya-san, despite my pension for ongoing manga. Typically if I want to read manga its for something that is already done and doesn't have an irredeemably shit anime adaptation, although I obviously made an exception for Denki-gai because I started reading it before the anime came out.
